  1. Ye our rules in Vic still seem to be the worst lol. I WISH our RB25 test was 3500rpm. Our RB26 test is @ 5100rpm *sigh*
  2. RB20 & big builds are not really useful. RB25's cost vs gain simply demolish the RB20 in every way. More torque, more power, with less boost = less stress/better reliability. Have a bit of a search, maybe using "built RB20" or similar. You'll find barely any users end up going through with it as most come to their senses Dyno results thread will also back that up when you hardly see any big builds compared to 25/26/30 threads where there are plenty of builds and barely any "build" is under 300rwkw. Most are 350rwkw+ Going over tried and proven 250-260rwkw/stocker RB20... Whether you save a few bucks on machining or not, is just far too expensive and you get the returns you would with a 25/26/30.
  3. What dB @ what RPM? I always talk in Vic laws - 90dB @ 4700rpm for a RB25 (from around 40cm away)
  4. Used Traction myself a number of times, never had a problem. But that said - almost ALL places machines are out regardless of it being KMart or anywhere else. Its just a question of how much it's out
  5. You can get a 3" exhaust legal with two large as possible mufflers and a CAT. So there is no issue there if it is built right. Some off-shelf jap exhausts that are quiet - are not a "true" 3" either. They have restrictors inside them to get them quiet. Some brands have made under 90dB either way, but you can certainly do it without the restriction.
  6. threads merged, ensure you read the rules before starting threads.
  7. Everyone wants to do something different until the realise the cost vs the gain just simply isn't there with an RB20 For the cost of a $500, you could put another wrecker motor in - and then just get a TD06 kit (there are 2 for sale ATM in the FS Area). You then make 260rwkw like everyone else and then drive it hard as you want. If the motor breaks, you just buy another one and repeat. Simple, cheap, effective. I mean for starers you are talking about building a motor thats going to cost upwards of 5-7k... But you want to put a 1970's $800 T04 turbo onto it? This makes no sense and is backwards thinking. No motor will survive on the limiter forever unless you spend 5 figures. Even then, who knows. A $200 part like your Walbro pump could fail and then take it out entirely
  8. Sometimes people just have to see for themselves... Someone post Gav's graph just for a laugh...
  9. 4 years is a long time Customs are well aware of people like nengun, and what goes on. Have been for many years as i have a friend of a friend that works there So don't think you'll always get away with it. Always assume customs will pickup on your bits cash wise, so you don't get surprised if it does happen.
  10. Been posted up a few times overthe years, good read either way.
  11. Thread closed. Believe it or not, but since SAU started more than 7 years ago, this topic has been discussed before. Please use the search function in future. It may be found here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=search&search_in=forums While we understand that it can be frustrating to have your thread closed - Please consider that other members may feel it to be disrespectful and selfish of you to post a simple question, without using the search feature to review the wealth of information provided by said members over the years. If you still feel that this action is unjust, then please PM me and we can discuss it further.
  12. Just a tip - you guys are going to have problems with the Tassie maps for the most part. Especially the "tiger" split. Creating it wont be a problem - however applying them to the actual car will be a different story as they will have to be a layered sticker, which also adds cost. Some great idea's coming out though.
  13. I hit the limiter all the time with my N1 pump! But ye, it'll be that piece of loom by the sound of it. I had it happen with a stray hose on my RB25 years ago, no idea how the hose even got loose/into where it did. Mysteries
  14. Why don't you buy one thats 12 months old? No stress for you that way, still under full warranty - and you don't take the hefty depreciation hit.
  15. More RPM! hehe. A little wheelspin in a GTR gets the fronts get in on the act unless you are forcing it via a controller? From the outside it certainly wasn't turning the tyres much at all, it should move the fist 5m quickly as if it was about to go cut-cat style but then bog a bit. That was when it was dry though i mean. When it was wet on both says there was lots of spin - but then everyone had the same issue
  16. well 500 hp or 800hp there is quite a difference between the two. RWD you should be fine. GTR - expect to break a box(s) above 360-380rwkw. Not everyone does, but it most certainly can happen.
  17. O2 sensor has nothing to do with the car starting. I've not run O2 sensors in 6 years.
  18. R33 / R34 = same. Cannot be used without modification to the ECU, and pointless doing an AFM swap without a turbo upgrade. You might as well sell it, bad purchase.
  19. T04Z is not the turbo for under 400rwkw. On PULP I've seen them make 440rwkw so its certainly NOT the turbo you want. GT-SS (-9s) are 330-340rwkw, T04Z is 450rwkw So you can see there are two ends of the scale. If you want a single, GT35, or from recent reports - GT3788 For twins, -9s Put it this way - 2 simple questions. 1. Do you WANT to rebuild soon? 2. Do you HAVE 7-12k sitting there to do it? IF you answered NO to any of those... Settle for a nice safe power level around 300-330rwkw. A street GTR with 300-330rwkw is reliable, and most of all it's super responsive. Take one through the hills with that response and you'll always be pleased. If in 2 years you decide you want to get a bit more serious then just sell the turbos you have. You'll get far more enjoyment out of a setup that is suitable for the use, rather than bolting on big turbos now because you "might" or "maybe" will chase more. In the grand scheme of things swapping turbos out, when rebuilding - it's going to cost you 10% of the overall budget, which IMO makes it a non-issue. Suitable package now, and suitable package later = happy times all the time.
  20. Was a good weekend out - good to meet a few peoples from about the place too! Lucky we towed my car, bloody front diff letting go on what was probably the 2nd last run on the weekend Oh well, Nismo diff on the way to fix that for next time, will be back with more power too hopefully
  21. Why would you get a GT35 and only run 18psi?
  22. Good news - not rotator cuff. Bad news - its everything else around it pec/trap/bi/top rib I suspect I'm gonna be in some ripe pain tomorrow after a good 30mins of being belted by the physio. But all good, nothing that cannot be fixed. Gotta lay off the gym in terms of shoulder. So looks like a week of just legs is coming up - not going to stop attendance or i'll lose the motivations. Going a bit to hard was the major cause, along with sitting in a desk/seat for 8-12hrs a day = bad mix.
  23. What kinda fag wears gloves to a gym, let alone FULL gloves. For a thread that had no homo to start, I'm worried where this will end up!
  24. This was Jan, but i can tell you now half of us had no visor!
