  1. ^ This. If you do NOT have oiled pods, then I'd be contesting the defect to prove a point. 100% one intake modification is legal on a GTR as long as they are non-oil PODs.
  2. worst case is you fail, and then you just go back and get it fixed within 7 days for a EPA retest. exhaust shop will cost ya $30 if you wanted to "pre check"
  3. You might need to put a baffle in before the CAT (metal sheet, 4-5 holes drilled into it). Only way is to get tested and find out. Some are fine, some are not. Many factors vary as sometimes old stock exhauts are a bit stuffed etc. I'd certainly put a stock sized CAT on there as well if you have it.
  4. +1 Start from the basic and work on it from there. You might have your questions answered as to "why" with a simple run up. The only issue with alignments, try find somewhere decent. Often a lot of machines are not "true" as they are never checked/serviced properly. I've had varying readings from 2 places on the same day as an example (which is correct? hard to say). So a motorsport oriented place is where i would start and not somewhere like a bob jane
  5. Exactly. They can't measure it as i said. So there is no promise you'll pass. Hence it should be EPA not VicRoads
  6. Exactly, call VicRoads - some things cannot be answered as @ the end of the day it depends on what the VicRoads inspector says on the day.
  7. +1 Worst timing for ad breaks. Also the UK coverage of the last 3-4 laps was shit. The TV director couldnt make up which battle to follow, and as a result we missed the better parts of both
  8. Was interstate over the weekend with Snowy & Scotsman
  9. Of course he wont mention EPA. Either way, VicRoads cannot check exhaust noise. Only whats on the defect notice. Was hoping you'd chime in, I'm not quite upto date with it anymore in that area
  10. Caged doesnt need padding far as i am aware. And it always "used" to be you needed to VASS ENGINEER the car as a 2-seater, and rego if you are going half cage and taking seats out, belts, couplings etc. The same applied if you have a fixed back from seat (and no cage). As people cant get out in event of accident etc. Wether the rule about the cage/re-rego has changed or not i do not know. Brown Davis are on top of the laws so it wouldnt surprise me, and that VicRoads stafff simply have no idea. Just go and ask Brown Davis for where the ruling is etc, they shouild be able to tell you where if they knew about it. As for the pics - common place these days, expect a full EPA once they send the pics off. You usually get a "date" to present it by when the letter comes. Usually a few weeks. You can always write and ask for extension due to work/personal reasons to get more time however you won't be able to drive it after the "date" they give you.
  11. VicRoads have never checked exhaust noise, they dont have the equipment. Expect EPA letter IMO.
  12. Just use the stock airbox, best for the application anyway especially with track.
  13. Breaks ruined some of the best parts of the fken race
  14. There has been issues with the actual receiving of the goods for a number of people depending on the turbo/config you want. Unfortunate as its holding up results more than what FullR have done etc.
  15. ye would have had that at least @ the start of final lap +1 good race im spent bed
  16. Saw a 9180 on a full race manifold today - looks the business, as does the rest of the car that had undergone some major work and really awesome to understand the concepts behind it all. Will be very interesting to see the results on 30psi Hopefully they get posted up
  17. Thanks for the walk around tour today Mark & the guys @ Mercury, much appreciated especially on a Sunday. Some serious work going on there, and quite interesting to see how a few things have been approached. Weight stuff was really surprising indeed. Look forward to footage of 4WD power slide burnouts Didn't happen - tomorrow it'll be out Mark said today
  18. And that's with -5 turbos too, so not small ones.
  19. I've run 25psi on stock GTR piping, no issues. If you take the intake pipes off you'll see they are actually lined so they don't suck shut
  20. Considering I've had Samco water hoses fail on 3 occasions, i highly doubt these would be any better Factory is always best if you can get it/have it.
  21. Well take the AFR gauge out, it won't give you useful information and anything it does tell you will be wrong. Sounds like its not tune related, more so mechanical. Put a stock ECU in, if nothing changes then its 100% not tune related. Do you have spark? Fuel pressure? guessing you purchased a 2nd hand GTR pump? If so id start there, probably failed/failing. Kinda made your own bed if you installed a used pump
  22. What 'AFR' gauge are you talking about? If its one that uses the factory O2 sensor then ignore it as it'll never read correctly and you wasted your cash on it. As for start-up it could be anything. Starter motor might be loose, cam cover perhaps? Knock sensor just on start-up can be many things unrelated to the tune. And of course if you up the boost, you'll need to change the tune.
  23. lol no worries, its fine taste wise though - of that you can hold me too
  24. If you want to come and grab a bit to try, you are more than welcome mate. I kid you not when i say the strawberry one from BN is almost like a milkshake (with milk). Or with water it mixes perfectly after a quick 4-5 sec shake, like flavoured water almost.
