  1. The problem with just changing the resistance... You still have a 15yo AFM that's most than likely going to fail at some point given just about all of them do. But new ones and you'll never have to worry about it for another 10-15yrs. AFM issues can often being a major pain in the ass.

  9. Plenty of places make their own. Racepace for example. I believe some of the Syd/Qld workshops do the same I'm sure. Not sure which though so someone up that way will need to confirm.
  10. Depends on what you want and stuff mate. Nothing wrong with running -9s on a built motor. It'll make a solid 330rwkw, be responsive as all buggery and be an absolute street weapon. So if thats all you want then you'll not need to change turbos! I've got 370rwkw now with -5s... I'd rather the response of -9s and 330-340rwkw. Admittedly I'm running less boost on the -5s than i could but response is king for a street car and makes it so much nicer to drive. I don't dislike my -5 setup. However nothing really happens until 150km/h where the -9s were much more exciting between 60-150km/h
  11. +1 If you are even doing one track day/yr, oil cooler is paramount however. How much extra oil depends on all the other factors like cooler size, mounting, lines etc. Only way is to do.

  14. Cam gears yes most certainly the best value mod you can do on a RB26 IMO. The other stuff, not really no. Lots of money for no real gains at all.

  16. What results you are looking at? Last 3 pages of the 16 page dyno thread, results: 308rwkw -7/21psi 290rwkw -7/18psi 300rwkw -9/18psi Results are for stock motors. Some running stock fuel systems also as 280-300rwkw is the limit for all of that. Bit more fuel/boost on some of those and more can be made. But as i said earlier - it's $1500+ for 20rwkw then... I made 280rwkw on 17psi on a built motor. And plenty of others have made 330rwkw on 20-22psi on built motors as well just for reference. 280rwkw is not the limit.
  17. So is it currently using the recirc or not? If you block off the ATMO side, you'll need to ensure the recirc side is all connected. Then no problem. You could probably order the plate off a turbosmart distributor/stockist. If not just have one made/cut up. Wouldn't be expensive.
  18. Sounds like it's failed mate! It's not totally uncommon, happens from time to time. Either replace it, i think they are about $30, or just get a GTR one for $70-$80

AUD - ~2000 USD - ~2150 $1000/turbo is pretty fken cheap for -7s, you'll save like $700NZD There isn't much difference between 7s and 9s anyway ---> 9s make a little more top end, 7s have a little better response. It's not as noticeable as say going from -9/-7 to -5s though to put some perspective around it. So it's minor and you'd really struggle to notice the extra 20rwkw (on 300rwkw) anyway in a lot of cases. If you had 100rwkw then 20rwkw might be a little more important

  24. Shouldn't matter depending on material. It'll just get hotter than usual and might warp a bit and be mindful early on and check etc. You are right though, it will pass the heat through. But if it's only a small section then it's better than nothing would be the view i'd take. I ran my GTS-R manifold without a shield... Wasn't a good idea. Stuff was VERY hot lol, even went brown in some places.
