  1. You got 4 years out of a set of rotors with 440kw? Holy shit... What type of pads? They couldn't have been very agressive? My DBA4000's lasted about 5,000kms with DS3000 pads and that was just street driving and the old owner doing i think 2 track days. But yes agree - brake lines probably an issue. Most people already have them anyway. I will reuse the ones i have.
  2. Thread closed. Believe it or not, but since SAU started more than 7 years ago, this topic has been discussed before. Please use the search function in future. It may be found here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=search&search_in=forums While we understand that it can be frustrating to have your thread closed - Please consider that other members may feel it to be disrespectful and selfish of you to post a simple question, without using the search feature to review the wealth of information provided by said members over the years. If you still feel that this action is unjust, then please PM me and we can discuss it further.
  3. +1 to above. 14psi on a RB20 is not too bad, but on the circuit it might be a tiny bit too much.
  4. How are they nasty exactly? Because of the colour? If they have been proven on club level circuit cars to be perfectly fine then they are fine for anyone else at that level too. Perhaps at the pinnacle/upper end there might be some difference that warrants a price tag 3x the amount. When you consider what the equivalent Alcon setup costs - you could buy TWO sets of these (say one dies in 3yrs) and still be infront. Some stuff outta china/taiwan is certainly rubbish and i'd say away too - however the brakes seem to be fine and are in use on a good number of cars doing some very fast times.
  5. Roy saw this issue when he changed to Plazman/6boost manifold combo. (check his RB02 build thread for more detailed info) Which part was to blame - hard to say of course - either way upgrading was a costly exercise for less...
  6. Oh look if you can play around in CAD then ye - of course. but its a time/effort thing as you are no doubt well aware
  7. 3" is the "norm". As long as you get a system with two mufflers, kakimoto as an example - it'll be right on legal which is 89-90dB Simply on a cost basis this would be cheaper 2nd hand than making a new 2.5" system. Not sure if that is a concern or not. 3" /w 2x Muffler is pretty quiet and rarely any drone at all. Once my car doco/video is done (it has sound) i'll post it up and you can hear it as there is incar sound and that is a 3.5" straight exhaust around the 91-92dB marker with 2 mufflers. If you wanted quieter again you could always get the rear muffler swapped out say, and a 2.75" or 2.5" one put on as exhaust gas would have cooled a bit. Sound is definitely a personal preference as i said in the thread just below this. Depends on you as a person
  8. You'll go past the main tourist type sights if you go to Apollo Bay, hence suggestion Pt Campbell. Although it's not a "far" trek backwards if you are in Apollo Bay for 2-3 days. Plenty of cheap accomm this time of year although there is the Apollo Bay music festival - you'll have to check when thats on as i think its around this time of year. You'll wanna avoid that. Bairnsdale is a smaller country style town. I'd recommend stopping in Lakes Entrance as the better choice there. Its much bigger.
  9. Full EPA? Don't risk it. I've seen them open the ECU cover, unplug AFM's, use the consult port etc. All of which will give you away mate. They also know the colour of stock injectors. It's your call either way as it is totally luck of the draw.
  10. The SAU search works excellent if you give it a crack There are a heap of options compared to the old search.
  11. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/348529-switch-to-normal-view/ Dont use google to search SAU, it alters your settings.
  12. Pt Campbell is small but has a lot of tourist stuff around like the 12 Apostles, Loch Arch gorge and similar. You could easily spend a full day along there, although rug up. It'll be getting to filthy weather time about now down that area and it can get very cold. If not 1hr further from Pt Campbell (from SA) is Apollo Bay - a bit bigger with some other cool stuff to checkout like the "tree walk" thing, Apollo Bay pier, Mariners lookout etc. Also some ok places to eat (Chris's light house restaurant in Skenes Creek is apparently very good). You goin to Queenscliff and getting the Ferry across?
  13. If its only 600NZD currently, you'd be hard pressed to beat locally with time/effort it given how poor their dollar is at the moment
  14. That config will bring you to around 87-90dB in most cases in 3". Gotta be straight through for best performance and also as big as possible. So basically the smaller you go from the "biggest possible", the louder things will get. Either way a hotdog + cannon is doing you no favours. You might find just a single rear muffler might fix your issue. Everyone is different when it comes to "how loud" something is so i just refer it back to "legal" which is 89dB in Vic in terms of a point of reference.
  15. For Sponsors/Businesses etc - just waiting on ONE final costing to come in. The local council have taken nearly 4 weeks for a simple figure, but without it i cannot finalise everything else as it's a major cost
  16. You need an adaptor plate made up to have the ITB/plenum go on i believe. Not the simplest job, but certainly possible. Blitz used to make an adaptor... I believe they stopped doing it The adaptor was overpriced too lol, but then it was a one-of-a-kind make
  17. 2x muffler get rid of cannon get rid of hotdog
  18. Or 950 - what im selling mine at. They are brand new, come with gaskets/heat wrap etc
  19. VicRoads wouldn't know thier arse from their heads. You can call up 5mins apart, and get a totally different story. I've done it before. Get them to put it in writing from a VicRoads engineer - THEN its valid.
  20. As with all other P-Plater "i wanna put a N/A into a turbo" - The car is still illegal. Please take the time to use the search function. This has been covered enough.
  21. Great. Mid range is very strong but they do run outta puff a bit around 7000-7500 as torque falls away. Still though they are on around 3500rpm which gives you a massive band to work with and doesn't leave you pushing 8000rpm all the time which isn't a bad thing either.
  22. Well if you are changing turbos, won't really add much cost at all! Still have them here!
  23. No reason why they couldn't be engineered given they use factory mount points. Long as you use ADR approved lines etc.
  24. +1 to this. Exactly what I'd have said. Although only point - cam gears. To save coin just get the stock ones modded to be adjustable. Half the price of jap brand name gear. Plus you can't see em with the timing cover on anyway
