Another Rb25 Top Feed Injector Thread
AngryRB replied to mynameisdaniel's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
What are your opinions on the ID/Xspurt 2000's, will they idle and behave as good as the 1000's? cause they would make fitment a lot easier and neater. -
Is there a relationship between the amount of squish area and the comp ratio? I read somewhere that if going from say 9.5 upto 10.5, the squish area/size would determine if it knocks. so larger squish would create hotspots and knock compared to smaller squish with a higher comp? Also heard that a higher comp ratio reduces combustion temperatures because the increased pressure clears out the cylinders more efficiently.

I know that engines run cooler, my point was more that if lubrication was being lost from the alcohol's cleaning effect then there would be increased heat build up around the top comp ring as friction increases with boost/comp. What piston to wall clearance would you suggest if dedicated E85? I was thinking a 4thou could allow washing down the skirts on cold start?
-
Has anyone had failures from using E85, from what ive read, E85 being an alcohol cleans and washes the cylinders so with a lot of compression/boost and increasing piston clearances from forged pistons or worn stock pistons I wonder if there could be an increased heat and friction build up to cause a piston failure. Could this be possible on an RB30 piston that doesn't have the oil squirter to help cool the pistons or does the amount of oil outweigh the ethanol content in the cylinders.

low boost being like 20psi, lol.. that will teach you HTA people.. was actually thinking bout wether to have the box checked when it comes off, wonder if you can strengthen/replace a few gears without massive cost.. -

Plazmaman sell's a billet rail with suitable spacers etc.. maybe just go the plenum too lol -
If you were located in brissy, id be trying to talk to the guys with the R32 HTR skyline that's going to the Jamboree, saw it do a 7.5 Quarter at 198 last week.

You must be talking about a D-jetro or something cause mine never needed anything, its just plug in and tune it.

Iruvyouskyrines Rb25Det Neo R32
AngryRB replied to iruvyouskyrine's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Looks good mate, some ear plugs will be needed i reckon, will be interesting to see how well it flows, hope those black silicon hoses don't blow out under boost though. Looks very clean and well done though. -

Yeah, I think ill learn how to drive it with a 3076 and see where its limits are for a year, then it might change direction toward HTA3582, its never a closed book with these builds lol.. that's why ill build the motor strong for future increases. but will love the 3076 spool ups on the street , I don't think it will be that slow, probably do a 12sec quarter still. I hope. Have you been down the quarter yet matt? -
Looks Like Garrett Slipped Another Gtx30 Variant In .

Hard to tell from the pictures but id check that theres no reductions in pipe size at the flanges, and no reducer in the muffler. -

Yeah i maybe should of gone for a 3582 but ill try this out first and see how it goes, should give some great midrange and sound awesome thru the streets. -
Anybody Tried A Garrett 3576 On A Rb25
AngryRB replied to Michael's R33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The 3576 is what the late model falcons use, FG xr6 turbo, you'd be better off with a 3076 rather than having that big hotside creating extra lag for nothing. Between those two the 3582 is a better balance and payoff, but will be late onto full boost, think 4500ish to 7000 power band as a good indicator, and it will be a rush -

In my case I had a leaking plenum gasket so had to take it off about 5 times, if you didn't have that issue and only had to do this once then its worth it to have some top quality injectors. The vacuum hose underneath between cyl 2 and 3 needs welded up and moved ( brass fitting in pic) and have to shave some material off from under the throttle body, then you have fit the plenum on but its tight still. The rail I had was a cheap one and I had to shorten the spacers to get the right length but not too hard. Got everything I needed from injectorsonline.com.au , but maybe scotty can do it cheaper for you. -
There is a lot of forged piston designs and shapes , is there a shape of piston that is best suited to an RB engine, eg flat top compared to the stock design, and also with a neo or non-neo head? Would a flat top piston be less likely to get detonation due to being more uniform with no valve cut outs and more efficient due to being flat? Some pistons have the top ring landing closer to the top, is this preferred, and what about the silicon contents of the latest pistons on the market. Apparently some BMW's have forged pistons and they are designed to be quiet and smooth due to the increased silicon content which is quoted to be 14 percent compared to old days of 7percent, and compared to stock pistons having 12.5 %. Just like with turbo's, HTA's are getting a name for the design and effectiveness, what about pistons and the head design of the RB, which piston is the HTA version for the RB.
