  1. I've done plenty of launches - only broke a gearbox so far, pretty sure that wasn't because of launching, it was 3rd gear. If you want half launch i find you can get off the line quick even if your only on about 5000rpm, but you've gotta slip the clutch a little, but you'll need a strongish clutch for that, std one will just slip i think. But yeah you can launch at 7-8k as well, but i find just steping off the clutch doesn't work as well as easing it out.
  2. Each situation is different, do the figures before deciding how to finance your ride. As for "No capital improvemnts, ie, mags, suspension" - this would come under 'maintence' if your suspension 'broke' and you replaced it - thats maintenence - if your wheels got 'damaged' and you needed to replace them, maintenence Works for me Most companys done like the car being older than 5/7 years old at the end of the lease, but I managed to find one that would do it - with a 30% deposit.
  3. My friend asked me to post this: Thanks to all you guys for offering to help with the "casual positions" but I'm afraid it was a case of first in best dressed. Also, I don't know about the rest of you guys but Rhett definately was the right man for the job - and what a great job he did too.
  4. I agree with all your points except this one - how can you 'upgrade' from a jap built car to an aussie built car? :uhh: No matter which way you look at it, its a downgrade
  5. I think this says it all
  6. The airbag steering wheel just comes off - no big deal, if you want to swap it to a aftermarket one (non-airbag one) shouldn't be a problem (except for your local road laws).... With a HKS 2530 turbo, it will make aorund 220-230rwkw, running out of puff up top end.
  7. How does an LED display which setting you are on, or is it a cluster of LEDs? Will this kill your centre diff/clutch quicker/more? Is there any formula to the settings? Ie putting it on 3 ... multiplies the original signal by 3 or something?
  8. ahahahah Troy nice try
  9. This is a bit of a weird request, but anyway here goes. My friend is finishing up her phycology degree and needs someone to interview for one of her assignments. She's having trouble finding someone that fits the profile - I figured with lots of young guys here there may be someone that fits and is willing to spare an hour or two to meet with her. What do you get out of it? nothing But she is a very nice girl - and hot Anyways here is what she sent me: The research project is for a Social Psychology subject. The background for the project is that more and more people are being hired as casual workers rather than permanent workers. This high percentage are people aged between 18 and 26. The project examines what it's like to be a casual worker. You will be asked about topics such as how you feel about being a casual, about the work you do and preferences regarding work arrangements. She is looking for someone who is aged between 18 and 26 and is working casual hours in their field of study. Someone who has actually completed their degree or close to completion. Any industry but must be working irregular casual hours. If anyone is interested in helping out this lovley young lady - then PM me or reply in here and i'll get you in contact with her. Thanks
  10. As said already, short motor is usually just the block with pistons and all that in it, and long motor means it comes with a head etc... You should speak to whoever will be putting the engine together for you - they should be able to help you out - I'm assuming you're going to put a RB26 head on an RB30 bottom end.
  11. standard the monaros are pretty slow, a mate in his gtst running around 160-180rwkw used to kill them... its got a lot to do with the driver, if your driving a manual you'll need a good launch, if his is auto, he could drag you while eating a big mac. The skylines still a superior peice of technology.
  12. Yeah as already said, a few things are extra on the GTR , TT, 4wd etc... but general maintence like oil changes/fuel etc... are going to be similar cost...
  13. Most people mount them in front of the wheel arch - usually on the Passenger side. Smaller oil coolers are mounted in front of the radiator, larger ones are mounted in front of the wheel arch (same place factory gtst intercoolers are mounted). make sure you drill out some holes/gap from the inner wheel plastic guard.
  14. i thought prank had the plates 'sau'
  15. Couldn't agree more - and i have the Cannon IXUS V3 - its a great little camera. Its all about the lense these days. As said above 5MP is plenty, but of course you can turn the MP down in the camera settings so don't be put off if the camera you want is 7MP
  16. You have too much money!
  17. As long as you look after it and don't bounce of the rev limiter all the time, let it warm up should be fine.. i regularly let mine stretch is legs to 8,000rpm
  18. I went through the same choice when i was looking, everyone i asked said without thinking twice 'GTR'... As mentioned R34 will be newer, and looks different - up to you if you prefer the R34 GTT look or the R33 GTR look. But if you want performance then you can't go past a GTR. Keep in mind the GTR may cost a little more to maintain/mod. Go see some nice examples of both in person, drive them and see which one you like better - thats how i made my choice.
  19. HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH what a pissa... I recon 30 isn't much either - i think it would depend on fitness, eventually you'd get tired of running/punching/kicking/throwing them, that would be when you'd loose.. lets say i could average 1 every 5 seconds.. thats 12 per minute.. how many minutes could you throw/smash little kids for? 5minutes of a good workout would mean 5 x 12 = 60.... stamina is the key
  20. No reason to change BOVs on a GTR - even leewah with 600rwkw still runs standard BOVs.
  21. How are yous going Rigga, how many ks and whats the wear like on them?
  22. because most people hear a bang and take thier foot of the accelerator - first thing most people would do... so theres a chance of some bits of exaust wheel falling back into the engine? I've been told if i ever hear a bang to keep my foot on the gas for another 5seconds to hopefully push all that shit away from inside the engine. I think it would be hard to do - keep your foot down after you hear a bang
  23. the boost one turbo would make would go back out the other stuffed turbo
  24. 97 - is it series 2 or series 3 spec? 47k is on the high end for a stock GTR, but if you really want a stock one and its in good cond then go for it. Make sure you budget big $ for maintenence and the other 'maintenence' (mods).... I've spent over 10k on my GTR in the first year .. thats with no power mods, still running the same power as when i bought it (close to standard).
  25. in the states mechanics charge like brain surgeons, so would explain the long servicing times.
