Oh and its not 1 lap. You'll get several shots at it. It's just that each "time" will be based upon an out lap, a timed lap, then a cool down lap. So umlike a normal sprint day which is 3 or 4 times laps in one session this will be just one (which seems stupid IMO as everyone will get less laps consequently but no one said autosalon were the best organisers in the world)

Definitely an important minor detail missed (by me)! It didn't mention anything about cost on the application form but I have learnt that nothings free!

If thats the case this event is going to cost them a fortune to bring cars from around australia to wakefield park which is definitely not convenient for anyone other than people living in canberra.

I wonder how they are going to cover their costs??? MASSIVE SPONSORSHIP?

Last year they ran their Street Car of the Year thingy which included a session at Wakefield.

A mate of mine from here in Vic went in his Supra. They gave him $1,000 for travelling expenses. He never had to pay for anything for the weekend.

This seems to be a similar thing. So if they want to accept me I'm there.

Well, if its free and you are going..then ill see about seeing if they will let me enter. If there is a track in Aus where i may be able to get close to you, within 1 second its goign to be Wakefield. My car should be good for similar lap times to the Supra. I have doen that many laps around Wakefield, that will eb the onlything helping me as you guys will be having to learn the track with very little track time....:D

...but odds are they wont be interested in letting a GTST enter?!?!?

LOL - I have to be accepted first as well.

Hell - they might not want another GTR there since we can be pretty sure the Autostyle one will be there. And they also might not want one that could BEAT that one. That would look bad for one of their major advertisers.

Actually - speaking of Autostyle - they have that Mines GTR copy there dont they? Since this is supposed to be in the vein of the Tskuba battle thingy I wonder if Autostyle will bring that (if they still have it)

Its been over 2 years since i went there, (since moving to melb basically)

With std turbo and ECU, but with exhaust, FMIC and 150rwkws with Falken 451s with a Whitelien suspension kit i was doing 1:13.4 from memory. (It was in the 1:13s somewhere)

These days, i have semi slicks, and 230-240rwkws, and better suspension and brakes..so would hope that i can get into the 1:09s or better?!?!?!

Do it Roy.....! You would definitely make the competitive pile. If you need an application form I can try and get the magazine with the form photocopied and scan it... I think the application forms have to be in by the 31st from memory.

I just want to see a presence from SAU.

Dom tells me his own personal R34 is quicker around a circuit than the "Mines" car they have in stock....its a weapon built on a budget that makes me ill.

If you can lap Wakie quicker than Domenic Russo ill eat my rear seat!

Didnt his car do high 1:08s or even 1:09s? Seriously, get ready to eat that seat as given enough laps to get to know the track Snowman will beat it. The ICE Supra would have beaten it last year if not for the dramas it had after the drive to Syd :)

GTRs still suck...and when is the actual day, as im in and out of country working OS at the moment? Ill put in an entry, but they will tell me to go away as my car isnt anyhting to look at, and there are quicker cars out there that look good to boot...but if the date works for me then ill try :)

...ok proviso...there are plenty of quick cars getting around...and rumour is the Autostyle cars can go quicker then in the Auto Salon shootout thingie last year :domokun:

He's done high 1.05s low 1.06's in his lowly 180sx

Brisby you need to stop drinking before you get on these forums. And leave the talking it up to your own deeds - not mine. LOL

BUT - if I do get a shot (which is unlikely since I'm not an Autosalon regular) - given a decent amount of notice I'll try and get the engine sorted beforehand. Then we'll see.

Shame its not at Winton or a track I know. Again "if" I get in I might have to arrange a trip to Wakefield for a day to check it out beforehand.

Don't get me wrong Snowman...i wish you all the best mate...But...to say your going to come up here and hand out a driving lesson is a little big headed. There are guys up here who can drive too...who don't always sit on chat forums.

Haha - I wasn't planning on giving guys like Dom a lesson.

It's a long standing joke between a few of us regular Vic drivers (Me, Scotsman and a few others) and some of the NSW boys (like Duncan) that the NSW GTR drivers can't drive because it seems the fastest lap time are all (or were) set by GTST drivers as far as these forums are concerned.

There are some amuzing threads hidden away on these forums about which is faster on the track between a GTR and a GTST. This is what I was going on about.

I don't claim to be anywhere near the fastest or best driver out there. I mean look at our current SAU circuit times leader board. I am on top of say the Sandown times with a 1.22.

But I know of 5 GTR's here in Vic which are running sub 1.20's including one in the 1.14's and one in the 1.15's (on semi comps). I'm way off those guys.

But also looking at the SAU times for wakefield I see on top is gaint (Russel) whom I know from competiting against at the Dutton and since we both got damn similar times at Winton (0.1s different) I reckon I could try and give his top time of 1.07 a shot.

I don't know how that time would go in this competition.

I mean you don't know who will actually be in it. I was invited to attend the circuit battle for Serious Performance 8 dvd at Calder early last year. The only cars of note there were the Ice Supra (which set the 2nd fastest time in Autosalons Street Car of the Year Competiton last year at Wakefield behind Dom) and the Chasers R34 GTR. I ended up winning that competiton easily even though back then I had much crappier suspension than I do now and the stock brakes. As perviously mentioned my car is hardly the fastest track car around but it was the fastest there on that day in a comp similar to this one.

I have entered , should be good fun.

i hope you'll be there snowy, and any other guys off here for a gtr assault!!

free entry and prize money sounds good to me!!

there are some very nice cars hidden around the place that should be out racing.

some of our cars are just perfect for this sought of thing i hope it goes smoothly and takes off.

cheers Russ

    • Hi all, Long time since I've posted here. Looking for some advice on what I can remove to further identify the cause of my issues.  I can move the passenger seat forward and back but the knob used to adjust the seat angle is pretty much free spinning, there's very little resistance.  Removing the side cover I can see that the chain is intact but the shaft for the adjustment spins without the gear attached to it moving.  What's my next step for disassembly here? Is this a common fault? Just being a little cautious as I didn't want to start removing bolts for a spring to fly out or something equally as stupid.  Cheers
    • Those above shitboxes, mediocre and above usually have a turbo strapped to them, hence the slightly higher octane is required.
    • Hi all,   long time listener, first time caller   i was wondering if anyone can help me identify a transistor on the climate control unit board that decided to fry itself   I've circled it in the attached photo   any help would be appreciated
    • I mean, I got two VASS engineers to refuse to cert my own coilovers stating those very laws. Appendix B makes it pretty clear what it considers 'Variable Suspension' to be. In my lived experience they can't certify something that isn't actually in the list as something that requires certification. In the VASS engineering checklist they have to complete (LS3/NCOP11) and sign on there is nothing there. All the references inside NCOP11 state that if it's variable by the driver that height needs to maintain 100mm while the car is in motion. It states the car is lowered lowering blocks and other types of things are acceptable. Dialling out a shock is about as 'user adjustable' as changing any other suspension component lol. I wanted to have it signed off to dissuade HWP and RWC testers to state the suspension is legal to avoid having this discussion with them. The real problem is that Police and RWC/Pink/Blue slip people will say it needs engineering, and the engineers will state it doesn't need engineering. It is hugely irritating when aforementioned people get all "i know the rules mate feck off" when they don't, and the actual engineers are pleasant as all hell and do know the rules. Cars failing RWC for things that aren't listed in the RWC requirements is another thing here entirely!
    • I don't. I mean, mine's not a GTR, but it is a 32 with a lot of GTR stuff on it. But regardless, I typically buy from local suppliers. Getting stuff from Japan is seldom worth the pain. Buying from RHDJapan usually ends up in the final total of your basket being about double what you thought it would be, after all the bullshit fees and such are added on.
