Why does an engine with the same stroke, same piston weight rev higher> I don't get it?

Is it simply that the total wieght on the crank is lower?

less recipricating mass from 8 cyl compared to 10cyl , less weight also with shorter crank

Thats whats got me upset, i havent ever been to f1 and really wanted to hear the v10s at 17,000rpm 300km/h plus for the first time.. but now ill never get to hear it unless they bring them back

Its just silly, they used v10s and that power level for ages, yeah some problems, but obviously over time there will be some with safety weather they are using a 1000hp v10 or a corolla engine.

And driver safety? I never heard any of the drivers complain they were getting hurt by the v10s power, if anything, the drivers are always wanting more power. They are athletes that train specifically for the forces of racing high g high horsepower cars.

Im still a fan, but a watered down fan from the v10-v8 transition thats for sure

After seeing the full warm up and rev video along with renault getting the v10 to 'rev' the we are champions song after winning last year.. i will never have anything but pure love for that engine and the V8s will have to do a hell of alot to impress me now.

20,000rpm so what, rather 18,000rpm with 2 extra cylinders

my advice is dont piss about. get down to melb GP this year. there will still be some V10s there. plus next year they may all be in something different again and you will have missed the V8 boat. it's an awesome thing to see/hear. cant wait.

Now Max Mosely is talkin bout changing engine regs again(maybe for 2008)something along the lines of engine size and number of cylinders less restricted BUT cars only get a restricted amount of fuel each race-cool so now not only will the passing and racing be shit we now have to watch a fuel conservation race where drivers are cruising round on 70% revs in a big procession just to get home. Got to hand it to old Max he knows how to make an already boring race series even worse

v8 is suck.... i want v10 power back :/

and I want David Coulthardt (grrrrrrr) to win.......... but you can't always get what you want,

Can't wait for the race- this is always the best one of the year. Shame it's not in Mebourne.

Good to see Ferrari back up the front, hopefully it will be a nice competitive season for the top teams. And hopefully Webber wins the championship  Lets pray that Webber is not that same as last year, good qualifying and not so good racing.

It makes me laugh that every year Ferrari pull the same shit scam and they think nobody notices... We'll see how quick they come into the pits to load up with more juice this year!!

Any one else notice the amount of Michelin runners in the top ten compared to Bridgestone??

Hmmm...131.431sec lap at Bahrain-thats not that much slower than tha V10's last year-typical F1 bullshit-they change the rules again at the cost of 10's of millions of dollars-make the cars have less power, but free up the tyre rules and they are just as quick as last years times-why bother. :D

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
