Already got the first pic but not the one from the rear. That one is xlent Thanks

SO that O'Brien is the same guy that later ran the VLs etc in Evalast colours?

Roy thats right. Bill O'Brien of Everlast Battery Service and later Everlast Automotive Service (entrant)

Born 30.9.42

First race at Bathurst 1977 then

Bathurst:

1979 Falcon GT with Ray Winter

1980 Falcon with Bob Morris

1981 Falcon with Gary Cooke

1982 Falcon with Gary Cooke

1983 Falcon with Brian Sampson

1984 Falcon with Gary Cooke

1985 Mustang with Laurie Nelson

1986 Nissan Skyline with Murray Carter

1987 Commodore VL with Brian Sampson

1988 Commodore VL with Sampson

1989 Commodore VL with Sampson

1990 Commodore VL with Sampson

I'm not sure what his Bathurst history was after 1990. He didn't seem to race in the ATCC for those Bathurst years as far as I can see though I might be wrong. Gricey would have called him a once a year Bathurst road warrior ( or something less flattering) but O'Brien always performed very credibly

By the way what has happened to the Baigent/Bowkett DR30 from Bathurst 1986

  • 1 year later...

those pics a are not actually of the car when they raced in ATCC though. they are new pics taken in an historic race meet in the last year or so. at eastern creek. :D

  • 4 weeks later...

Dont forget this weekend. To the best of my knowledge only 1 x R31 will be there, but there will be the Grp A Jag XJS, Tweedie in his Sierra and Vic's own Gavin Strongman making the first track return of the R32 GTR to the track!. There is the JPS M3 in there and John Bowes old Turbo Volvo 240...along with Commodores, Mustangs and the Group C crowd of Toranas :)

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
