BMI have commented that the Mines R34 is faster than a JGTC vehicle - something I'm sure the Z-Tune is not.

But then imagine Mines tuned Z-Tune.... :P

Hang on...even if you put it on slicks its not goign to be faster then a JGTC car :P

Just because BMI etc say it doesnt make it so. The dvds i have make for great viewing, but they are not exactly great for accurate tech data etc. I seriosuly doubt that their "Battles" are egit as you see some cars running semis and others runnign std rubber. Then there is the whole NSX keepign up with the truly exotic cars and huge discrepancies in times between one dvd to the next...

So in line with those inconsistancies, didnt that drift fella do a 53 or 52 seconds lap ih his JGTC NSX (from memory it was last seasons NSX and that team had its ass handed to it all season but the Toyota and Nissans so want even the quickest of the JGTC cars) ..yet was several seconds quicker then the Mines car.

So statements liek its quicer then a JGTC car, or quicker then an F1 Jordan are to make a poitn that the car is quick, not a statement of fact :D

BMI have been known for rigging races for JDM cars to win. On one of the latest DVD's Z-tune come from 4th to win on the last corner.

Don't get me wrong, I think BMI is a good watch, I just take the battle reults with a grain of salt.

seeing how the Z-tune holds BM, Top Rank Production car at tsubkia (sp), but saying that its more the driver than anything..

na v's turbo battle. the na fd which had 400hp was lapping times very similar to the mines r34 gtr because the drifto king himself was driving the fd

some odd arguments about times in here.

any video is bulls1t unless they have real drivers with real reasons to win. not just paid to make entertainment.

and as for a drifter being quick around a track :talktohand: he never won a jgtc did he?

If you are serious about times you can only look at those proper timed workshop laps they do, or a proper race

LOL, I always thought the results from these battles were a bit dodgy, guess I'm not the only person who thinks so. I still enjoy the battle royale most, HKS vs MINES vs MCR, come on GTR tuners, more MORE MORE!!!!!!

drift king is not that bad, i rember he is some sort of track record holder, he is just beening not consistence enough to win JGTC

never ever trust the result of BM, can't u see the 60+ yrs old man always win...?

Roy,

i belived it was the NSX-R that keeped up with the ture exotic cars..

NSXR, sorry, R or not, it is lucky to have anywhere near the power of the GT3, it weighs more then the GT3...yet the NSX beats it, plus every other Euro exotic. There is one particular DVD i have where you can see on the pics on the grid its on semis....none of the Euros are on Semis. That combined with the nutter that usually drives the NSX just parks it up th einside then hogs the line...its a piss take. Great viewing but no indication of the real pace of the car.

As for the Tsuchiya or whatever his name is..i understand he did win the Jap GrpA series...and if he is the same guy that drove for Toyota at Le Mans then he came in the places in the GT-One Toyota...though i dont know how common a surname it is...so he can obviously drive....

But that doesnt ake away from the fact that their batles are for the viewers entertainment. It seems the Tsukuba (spelling?) shootouts are a much more credible measure of the pace of the tuned cars, well thats my 2cents anyway

The comment about the Mines car being faster than the JGTC cars was ONLY in reference to acceleration and made by 2 JGTC GT500 Drivers.

I'm happy to accept this statement based on the fact that the Mines car produces 600ps & 60kg-m (as taken from GTR Magazine) and the GT500 cars are regulated to 500hp. Also factoring in the extreme engine response of the Mines GTR makes it 1 VERY VERY quick car (without the need for mega hp)

Could be right, but i would be surprised though.

The Japs dont run under the FIA regs for GT cars so i dont really know the restrictor sizes, weights etc of the car. But i would be surprised if the 2.6L Mines car had more torque then the 3.5L VQ GTR that is also turbocharged, the JGTC GTR would weigh less etc etc...But i suppose it could spring a surprise?!?!?!

    • Hi everyone, I've been wrestling with this for a while now and have been trying to find out the cause. For context, the turbos used are Garrett 2860 -5s, the BOV is a BNR32 HKS SSQV IV kit, the car is currently tuned to ~470 whp on 17.5 psi. The car drives normally, pulls well when it doesn't happen, and I can replicate it fairly easily. It does not sound like turbo shuffle or flutter. The engine has only a thousand or so miles and has had this behavior since it was completed. After my engine was built for my R32 GTR, I noticed that the car now sometimes makes an air discharge sound on what appears to be positive boost pressure that sounds really similar to a BOV. I had thought that it was a BOV issue but even when replacing it with a brand new unit, the sound persisted. It seems like it's coming from the passenger side but I may be mistaken. The closest scenario I could find was this post here https://www.gtr.co.uk/threads/maybe-a-boost-leak-opinions.147955/https://www.gtr.co.uk/threads/maybe-a-boost-leak-opinions.147955/ started by @yakshii and it sounds very similar. As in, at partial throttle once I reach positive boost I begin to hear the same psh psh psh psh psh sound like air is leaking somewhere when I keep the throttle in the same position. It most commonly happens in 4th gear at around 3-3.5k RPM and 5th gear around 2.5-3k RPM, which seems to coincide with normal positive boost thresholds. It might be similar to what @Austrian GTR mentioned about his own HKS SSQV. Notable difference would be that when he applies more throttle when it happens, it stops. In my scenario if I apply more throttle during this repeated psh psh psh sound, the cadence of the sound gets faster and louder rather than stopping. If I lift off slightly and apply throttle again, it will normally stop and pull without issue. I've checked all rubber couplers to ensure that they are tight, but have not gotten the opportunity to properly do a pressurized boost leak test. If anyone has had similar experiences or thoughts on what might be the cause, I'd be very keen to hear them. I also have a video of it happening from inside the cabin, if that would make it easier to understand: https://youtu.be/2zqZXcx8jbA
    • I'd want at least $40K for mine, but thats easy to say cos I'm not selling anyway.
    • That's incorrect. We have 4 seasons, consisting of pre winter, winter, post winter and a small glimpse of hope!
    • I spotted a black C34 in Mittagong this morning!
