You get alot of keyboard commandos on forums, pay no attention to them. ;)

nice power though, too bad about the massive lag, i thought my car was laggy! and i'd be getting a second oppinion on the whole wastegate too small idea...

well first stage of tunning was carried out today, but apparently my 50mm trust wastegate is to small can anyone recommend somthing they have used on a hks t51r. what size or brand would be the best to use..

we only got 590 rear wheel hp on pump fuel no noz.

Assuming all is as it seems, and the quoted numbers are correct..............

The wastegate sizing formula

Airflow in lbs per minute = diameter of wastegate in mm X boost correction factor

The 50 mm wastegate is not too small for 582 rwhp and 1 bar.

The turbo is too big for for 582 rwhp and 1 bar.

I guess that's what happens when you use a turbo designed for 800 rwhp and 2 bar

So you have a choice, increase the power and boost, in which case the wastegate will be the right size.

Or use a more appropriately sized turbo, it's a waste at the moment.

You have the lag of an 900 bhp turbo with the power of of a 650 bhp turbo

:D cheers :)

i think a noz shot should spool it up a bit quicker i have a 100 shot waiting to go in but with the wastegate i was told they cant control the boost through the wastegate thats y they said it was to small maybe their is somthing else wrong i am open to sugestion as i dont no everything about boost and wastegates... :D

i dont have one showing boost sorry but i do remember looking at it on the dyno computer it just went up and kept going didnt level out at all they said the engine limiter was 8500 revs and the turbo hadnt reached full power the line kept going straight up.....

Id kindly ask your tuner to print off a boost and power vs rpm graph and that may shed some light on whether the wastegate is the problem. I suggest a smaller turbo if your not going to boost it harder as the turbo has not even reached is efficiency range yet...HKS state 1.4-2.0 bar for this turbo.

if that is the case there is a big problem. if boost is constantly climbing (which having too small a wastegate would cause) then why is it only reaching 1 bar at 9000rpm? that is insane lag.

the problem is the boost is still climbing so maybe their is a hole in the diaphram i tried reversing the solinoid it went straight to 2 bar ...

so the boost was still climbing...to what...1bar... then they backed off ??

your power graph does not appear that they backed off

did you build this thing to drag...or potter around car parks

i suggest you get another opinion...take the car to Mark Jacobsen, he's experienced with these set-up's

something here does not add up!!

well, is it controling boost? like not boost creaping up top?

thats the bottom line, who cares about the size of the turbo...

if anything the biger the turbine the smaller the gate needed. as more gass needs to pass thru the turbo to make boost...

ahh, woops. what pressure is it stable at?

yes its too small get e bigger one. period. perhaps a hks one thats meant to go with the kit

have we got mark jacobsons number ,,,, also if their was a hole in the diaphram would that cause the boost to climb.

yes, i have Marks number...PM me your mobile and ill forward it to him.

If there was a hole in the diaphram you would have no boost control...as you swapped the hoses over and got 2 bar tells me its ok.

the boost to climb to what?? 1 bar.

    • Checked with amayama and nope, the full S2 manual set is not available anymore. Unsurprising, but still disappointing as the ? on availability gave a glimmer of hope.
    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
