enjoy

but some really bad stuff happened. :D the shock is still sinking in

went into this carpark at glenny station and connected to it is another car park. looking straight on it looked flat, BUT it was infact slanted like a hill and i didn't see it. End result cracked front bar already. Pretty bad, i'm quite depressed about it being first day and all. The front is too low, it scrapes too much, even in driveways, its about 12.5cms off the ground. sigh is there anyway i can get this without changing the springs.

i can handle the damage and live with it, but i just dunno how to explain it to my mum. If you look in the pics you can see the two cracks in the middle, even the right indicator fell off.

how much would it cost to repair something like this.?

thanks:o

heheh, welcome to the world of aftermarket frontbar meet driveway humps tragedy!

12.5cms not too bad, you just need to drive more carefully and not to trust any driveway/carpark entrances.

if your car's been lowered, best bet is to change spring and raise it back to factory height. I don't see any other way, except you have an aftermarket height adjustible coilover suspensions.

u wanted a 400R bar, and got a GTR and all u can say is, "oh well" ?????

dude, u wanted a 400R, i'm assuming u paid for it, u should bloody well get it.

oh.... nice car, those p plate stickers look mean.... what they add, bout 100rkw's??? :P

hey looks good chop!! now we can sort out a date for the meet

Can't wait inark, but still gotta settle some minor details first like insurance and then I'll be all set

Why are u scared of ur parents seeing the cracks?

Yes of course! they barely let me get the car you know!

u wanted a 400R bar, and got a GTR and all u can say is, "oh well" ?????

hehe actually I didn't pay for it, he said he would change it for me for free but i guess he didn't have any left, but damn my wheels are shocking, gotta repaint them.

Hey Chopobo, were you at glenny tonight, i thought i saw a r33 like yours parked in front of the chinese restaurant at the bus stop???

yeap that was most likely me in front of that chinese restaurant near lucky cup. i left when this woman gave me a greasy look. very uncomfortable. im not going there again.

Nice car chop.. you can try weilding your crack then a respray..

eh? how do you weld plastic?

i dun think i can do it myself. prolly get someone to do it. how much would it cost?

is it cheaper jus changing the whole front bar?

chop first time i took my car home from the importer i couldnt even get it up my driveway no matter what angles i tried, and yes i ***ing cracked the front of my 400r bar on the first day 2. My car was so farking low the front bar used to touch on speed humps even if i went fully sideways on em, i had to leave my car at my gfriends house for the first 2 days i had it. I ended up going back to the importer and changing the springs, now it just touches a little on the way out of my driveway.

U live preety close to me hope to see u on princess highway so we can have a run :P

    • My thought is if you were just moving it forward and the upstream geometry remained the same, then no difference at all. But because the current one has the filter direct into the AFM inlet, you effectively have the best chance of a completely symmetric air flow profile upstream, and in, the AFM, whilst the aftermarket inlet thingo has a (small, to be sure) bend between the filter and the AFM. That would bias the flow to the outside of the bend (downstream of the bend) which might well reduce the size of the signal seen by the AFM, for the same total flow rate. Having said that: If you're proposing to make your inlet look like a hybrid of your existing one and the aftermarket one, such that there is no bend where the filter is clamped on... then I say it will be just fine. If there is going to be such a bend, then, if you can align the insertion of the AFM blade such that it is at right angles to the plane of the bend, then there is a better than even chance that the centreline velocity where the blade is will remain more or less the same, and the velocity will just be a little faster to the outside of that, and just a little slower to the inside. **This is not professional investment advice and you should consult a suitably qualified ouija board, tea leaves or the intestines of a goat for more accurate prognostication.
    • Hi Tao, Thanks for your reply.  It's been a while and I managed to get the valve stem seals replaced with the head on the car.  Unfortunately this didn't solve my issue, the car still smokes a lot after idling (to be honest during idle you can see a bit of blue smoke from the exhaust), same after deceleration. I will try disconnecting the valve cover breathers, do I leave the PCV valve in? By engine oil drain pipe, do you mean the turbo oil drain?
    • What about if you just give it direct 12v and earth?
    • Hi guys . Can someone help me  I bought an Android screen for my Nissan fuga but it won't turn on
    • My guesstimate, with no real numbers to back it up, is it won't effect it greatly at all.its not a huge change in position, and I can't see the air flow changing from in turbulence that much based on distance, and what's in front of it. Johnny and Brad may have some more numbers to share from experience though.
