After being booked for the whole day I managed a total of 3 laps on the first run, thanks to the good old ceramic turbine wheel exploding in my turbo (and this is a totally stock engine running standard boost). After removing the dump pipe and tipping it on it's end, it was like tipping rocks out of a steel bucket. Anyway s..t happens and it's now going to get a GCG rebuild/flow job, which will hurt the bank but look forward to future track days !

There is no Boo Boo, lol. I put all the times up there because a few guys said they wanted to see everything not just their best.

I will have the latest hall of fame sorted out in a few days, once everyone has had a chance to grab whatever they want from that data.

Sounds like a Road Trip in the making. Throw in a few Touge runs on the way and its the ultimate holiday.

Yeah its awesome fun, a group of us went as "pit crew" for a mate who went down for a NSW Evo Track day...and of course blitzed them....hahahaha

Had the XR8 ute for carrying the essentials like the esky and the BBQ, yes we had a barbie in the pits to the jealousy of the NSW guys!!!

I'd be keen to head down to some of the NSW tracks as well later in the year, give them a try.
Im with you gorden im keen to try somw NSW tracks...
Wakefield Park is a nice track, unfortunately their timing facilities are some less desirable...

it also has a bit more "technical" aspect to it I suppose, especially the back section...and ther is only one straight...

Yeah, sounds great to me I'd love to get to some of the NSW tracks.

Going to bring that fancy timing gear Paul?

Guys, this will be sorted out for next year, discussions are happening at the moment :D

.....even the mountain runs :D ......

We are looking at buying our own timing gear also so we dont have to rely on track timing

Can you guys pm me the link to where you got your gear? We are currently comparing etc and looking at prices - thanks HEAPS

Edit.....we also have a club BBQ, so dont worry about that :(

I have built the timing gear. It is hard real time to 1/1000th accuracy. I print to 1/100th on the session sheets.

The main laptop in the timing room, the beam at the track, sign and hand controller are all radio linked and run off batteries.

It also measures the air temperature and track temperature and prints it on the end of day sheet so you can see the conditions at every set you run.

The extras that I will be bringing back now that the beam is 100% sorted out are:

1. The giant electronic sign that shows lap times to the spectators live as the cars pass the start/finish line.

2. The pit hand controller that allows the pit lane marschall to order each session in best lap running. It also lets him edit the next session so it is ready to go once the track clears.

    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
    • Does that German restaurant still exist in the old place out the NW end of Goulburn? When I say "out the NW end of"...I am really being vague. It was 1997 when I was last there, and the only point of reference I can recall is that it was on the opposite side of the main drag from the big merino. And when I say "opposite side of the main drag", I don't mean "on the main drag". It was either a couple of streets back from there, or might have even been out in the sticks a bit further. Was an old farm building or mill or somesuch. And when I say "the big merino" I might actually be thinking of a completely different part of town, because I just looked on maps and the big bugger is not where I remembered him to be! The food was good, consisting largely of various German mystery-meat sausage/loaf things and kartofflen.
