If you drive a loud, fast, imported car no matter what it is, your gonna get dirty looks and people turn there noses up at you. At the end of the day they can do that but it doesn’t change the fact that you, the owner, enjoy the car other wise you wouldn’t be driving it. Coming from driving a torana to a skyline I have noticed a difference in peoples prejudice towards me when they see me in the car, but when its other skyline drivers, it usually nothing but a bit of a smile, a little rev so you can hear the bov and a thumbs ups. So f**k what other people think about your ride, just dive it and enjoy it. Other wise shut up, sell it and by an excel.

My 2 cents

My point was not to start another type of prejudice but only to state that if you owned an excel that you wouldnt have any trouble with cops, hoons wanting to drag or people having a go at you when you drive through a Residential area.

... but u have fried ur tyres in second gear when some1 was not trying to race u?

no. but i was making a point. you obviously failed to get it like everyone else

speaking of excels, the one that just filled up next to me at the servo was hilarious...

monster tacho, all the fast and furious style decals on the outside, fake bonnet scoop, silver bonnet guard to match the decals.....riced up to the max...good to see he was using 98ron premium in the beast....lol

ive had my car since december last year and have only been pulled over once for a random breath test and the copper commented on the car which was good. if u dont do anything stoopid u wont get hassled.

ive been followed a few times, but what are they gonna do if ur doing everything right?

i was sitting a set of red light on Bourke Rd... not even moving... NOT EVEN MOVING!!... and a cop on a bike rode up next to me and said "after they turn green pull over" so i did. he told me to get out an stand a couple metres away.

10 mins later (10MINS!!) he came up and handed me two fines, one for a side mounted no. plate and the other for having my front wheels over the white line.. apparently i was "failing to obey traffic signals"... it would've been 6 points lost and $350+ worth of fines

Got out of it all... you can have a side mounted no. plate and i wrote a complaint saying that i was NOT over the white line and that i would fight it all the tooth and nail in court with my witness... sucker in biker cop, better luck next time!! lol @ you

PS i even kept the letter from johonny hopper saying "we will withdraw the fine"

my excel was louder than my skyline :pirate:

lol exhaust holes for the win.

rofl. some chick on the hume with a similar riced up excel thought it would be a good idea to fly past me after i over-took her. i lol'd, cameras all up the hume now. haw haw.

lol. i love clapped out VN's with there monster tacho and shift lights in auto's that all think they drive bathurst winning cars. they are my amusement everytime im in shepp.

LOL. Currently in shepp there is a clapped out VN with a monster tacho and 20"s. The guy thinks he's gods gift. The wheels would easily be worth more than the car...

No matter who I am with, everyone says "why would you bother doing that with a VN...", Hilarious.

haha yah, seen it. its pretty beatable. so ive heard.

reece on a side note, where in shepp do you live?

pm ;)

Ive owned my stock GTST for over 4 months now and have NEVER copped anything from police (never even been stopped by police) and I only had a few people drag me... one was a Merc with an old chick and her toy boy, a VT SS and recently I had a modded 180SX drag me... as far as abuse goes, never had anything remotely in a skyline.

yeah good post JaR... Normally i am a very average driver. Stick to road rules and speed limits. Iv been given a 14 thousand dollar car, why would i want that into a pole. Touch wood if i am a dick one day and end up dead or in a pole its my stupidity. Thats one of the reasons why i am undertaking a defencive driving course for my 18th birthday.

i guess haha. My brother has had a bad car accident where his first 180sx was written off... I dont want to go down that track. Imagine is someone dies and its left on your shoulders.. how will you sleep at night? Personally if i were to do stupid stuff on street, id do it alone.

well good, even if a person acts a dickhead on the road, it is very terrible if they were to injure/kill themselves in an accident, not because of what the effects of image to imports ends up because of it, but because of the value of someones life at risk, that is the most important thing, no matter how much someone is a dick.

I dont normally jump on these posts as no one is perfect, me included but "id do it alone" is never alone. You may well be in the car alone however you are not alone in life. You dont want to see what it does to your parents and if your brother has already done it, try and imagine putting it them through it twice.

    • @Haggerty you still haven't answered my question.  Many things you are saying do not make sense for someone who can tune, yet I would not expect someone who cannot tune to be playing with the things in the ECU that you are.  This process would be a lot quicker to figure out if we can remove user error from the equation.
    • If as it's stalling, the fuel pressure rises, it's saying there's less vacuum in the intake manifold. This is pretty typical of an engine that is slowing down.   While typically is agree it sounds fuel related, it really sounds fuel/air mixture related. Since the whole system has been refurbished, including injectors, pump, etc, it's likely we've altered how well the system is delivering fuel. If someone before you has messed with the IACV because it needed fiddling with as the fuel system was dieing out, we need to readjust it back. Getting things back to factory spec everywhere, is what's going to help the entire system. So if it idles at 400rpm with no IACV, that needs raising. Getting factory air flow back to normal will help us get everything back in spec, and likely help chase down any other issues. Back on IACV, if the base idle (no IACV plugged in) is too far out, it's a lot harder for the ECU to control idle. The IACV duty cycle causes non linear variations in reality. When I've tuned the idle valves in the past, you need to keep it in a relatively narrow window on aftermarket ecus to stop them doing wild dances. It also means if your base idle is too low, the valve needs to open too much, and then the smallest % change ends up being a huge variation.
    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
    • AHHHH gotchaa, I'll do that once I am home again. I tried doing the harness with the multimeter but it seems the car needed a jump, there was no power when it was in the "ON" position. Not sure if I should use car battery jump starter or if its because the stuff that has been disconnect the car just does send power.
    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
