Just checked out the new HSV range at their website. I like it execpt for the rear tail lights to small or something, just dont look right to me.

Only an extra 10kw was added taking peak power to 307kw, the GTS doesnt have any more power than the clubsport which is disapointing I thought it should have at least an extra 50kw or so. its suspention sounds impressive magnetic ride control (MRC) it offers different modes of handling/comfort. Anyway what do you all recon?

cheers

Im a bit skeptical on the 0-100 time, mainly cos its a heavy mofo of a car......

But I quite like the new shape - I have seen the same red ss around the mount waverley, monash uni area - looks pretty nice. The only downfall is, the car is soo big, that I wont be able to see over the steering wheel....

0-100 4.96 seconds? thats pretty f**kin fast for a holden

I'll believe the 0-100 time when I see it independently verified by Wheels/Motor magazines. They reckoned the old 300kW CB4 powered GTS commies could do 4-point-something, but they never did...and the new barge will be even heavier. Looks like Commonwhores are being riced-up at the factory these days....sorry, just remembered the '96 VS GTS-R 'Bannana Boat'.

They did get 5.1 seconds out of the VTII GTS from memory pretty darn quick. The base model is said to weigh 100kg's more than the previus model. So I recon the HSV version would not be much under 2 tonne bloody heavy for a sports car.

The car is fine apart from the rear lights... A HUGE let down for the whole car.

Bad move by holden, more weight, worse fuel economy. But hell hopefully the LS2 + a little more top end power helps push it along quicker than the previous model..

Nothing wrong with going quicker and quicker from factory. :)

Looking at it more closely it looks pretty good I think, lines flow pretty good. Other than that back bit above the light, thats a bit messed up with pannel joints. Seats look nice and comfy for the average person whos going to buy these. If its true about the braking then they pull up bloody fast.

Stereo I dunno about, I think 11 speakers is over kill if they were to do a true premium sound like the Audi A8 or something, but hey most people again wont know what its meant to be like, so they will think its cool.

Really end of the day doesnt matter cause they cant make anymore atm can they!

    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.
    • Nice, looks great. Nice work getting the factory parts also. Never know when you'll need them.
    • Thanks @jtha7 I will have a look around tomorrow but it is a prick of a spot. These are some photos i tried taking
    • I take it that the knock retard is from bearings tapping a little tune? Thicker oil is a fragile bandaid. You need a much bigger oil cooler and probably the bigger pump being discussed.
    • Hi @Chupapy i had several leaks from coolant pipes being corroded, i also had one leak on back of the head onto transmission. For me that leak was from the turbo water line. Follow the line to the back of the head The hose and metal pipe had perished these are the best pics I took of it at the time
