Did the chicken or the egg come first?

Anyone can pick parts of the rules and change them to suit themselves but really it all comes down to how much the polieman knows thats defecting you :(

this is an interesting thing.

a mate of mine in his stupidity 6 months ago was caught street racing another guy late at night in a kariong industrial area.

he was caught with n20 hooked up.

it went to caught and there was no mention of the n20 althought the police noted it in there report. the lawyer stated to him that it would not be an issue. he was charged with racing which is not a criminal offence apparantly, he had to pay court costs and had his car stored by the crown for 3 months and had to pay towing fees and also storage fees.

i have been told by my local area command i can have the bottle safely stored inthe bottle brackets with the bottle disconnected as i have a dangerous goods sticker on the car to notify the transport of n20. how are you supposed to get the bottle filled and transport it safely, have a second car with bottle brackets to drive to get it filled and safely transported to the track..

i was also told that to have issues with carry it with the line hooked up it would have to be proved that the occupant of the car had intent to use the n20.

i would imagine every thing will come down to individual cases.

i dont know why this thread exists, or what its going to achieve other than another my dick is bigger argument. but hey, if it floats your boat, go nuts.

Shane ;)

Wow! A thread full of people with dreams of racing purification?

Racing is (as far as the car used) all about getting dirty. It's all about loop holes ,not getting caught , looking good, bad or ugly and most importantly for some being a shite-stirrer (ala holden powered fords etc.)

Street and racing are two words in an unhappy marriage, full of infidelity.

The street racer , usually has that one vehicle acting as both the race car and the transport. It's a class born out of natural frustration. If asked the question most of the guys worth talking to would trade the regular road/drag car for a spot on a topfuel team as a driver. They kind of realise where the end point is. Lots of them retire the road/drag car and get a dedicated one at some stage down the track (once the light bulb goes on). Or they just pack it all in.

These are the sort of truths to understand before you can get anywhere.

I won't get started on nitrous use, I can't stop once I do. It's all good.

I look forward to the kind of 'real' street car racing that california is sure to have running soon....electric and hybrid drag cars are it man! Nothing like the furious rumble of an electric car smoking the tyres........ action plus!

At the end of the day some people are obsessed with the " How fast can you go in a slow car " Because in drag racing categories street car classes are the slowest...ok maybe the peewee dragsters are but, they are only little kids and they have an excuse.

I don't want to see slower cars. So if you are talking to me with the idea of slowing someones car down for the sake of ideals then you are clearly not part of the racing family, you might be a bastard son tho'.

rev210 when was the last time you raced your skyline at a drag strip?

i can't remember last time i "drove" a skyline....let alone drive one in anger....its been too long...and its not going to be finished this year...Jan is the new target...ill be a donut muncher at Drag Wars

rev210 when was the last time you raced your skyline at a drag strip?

Ha ha ,I don't think I ever really raced any skyline at the drag strip, in the sense that the car I drove at any time was actually remotely fast (although the old nitrous'd gtst ran into kangaroos before getting there even once before adrian ended up with the cursed equipment). In the recent years of skyline ownership I have tried my best to avoid the place lest it suck me back into it's evils as it did many years ago. My time will soon come, the 4 small children in my house need to grow up and I have resolved to do it properly once the time arrives. In the mean time I get to watch from the sidelines and make stupid comments

Re: 6 point rollcage - Is that installed and certified before February 2006, or just installed before then and can be certified post Feb 2006??

as long as you have reciepts of the cage being done before feb yes thats correct and my car is engineered with the NOS kit but bottle must be removed.

As for nitrous systems

ppl use them in america for extra towing power so i dont know what australias problem is

nah you just need receipt of the cage being done before Feb but to be honest after reading it

its the same as before so i dont think its gonna change.

With my shop my engineer has told me that the RTA is getting strict on Emmisions and noise.thats about it

thats the best, ill put 75hp on the Triton when i tow to WSID

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
