Hey

I'm going on a short holiday soon to Japan.

I want to visit some car part shops to buy a few things but I am struggling to find any info on the net. I know there are going to be a heap over there but I want to make sure they are close by and easy to find from where I am staying.

So, does anyone have any links for car part shops? Looking at buying my turbo's, cams, injectors and some other things. I am specifically after HKS and Nismo items.

Aisles of mobile phone holders

Aisles of turbos

Aisles of everything.

im hopefully going over next year

They are starting to open up a few secondhand Autobacs Stores. selling nothing but secondhand car parts and performance bits, wheels, suspension, etc, would be interesting to see.

Akihabara--are there any tuner shops there? It seems like a lot of the ones I've seen in Tokyo are fairly scattered about. More or less, you'll just be walking down a busy street and you'll see a smaller tuner shop with a bunch of tuner cars in front.

In terms of finding everything in one place, Autobacs is good but Super Autobacs is even better. I think there are a fair number of them in the Tokyo area, although I don't know the exact locations--try their website or the internet.

Otherwise, a good thing I've always done in the past, especially if you're looking for parts for a certain car, is to go to a specialist tuner shop so they'll know exactly what you're looking for. I've found a lot of these places are listed in the Hyper Rev magazines that come out periodically for certain types of vehicles (they should have tons of issues for the Skyline).

Not having a dig, but have you even been to an Autobacs? They are nothing like you mentioned above.

Extremely limited range, very small amounts of real performance parts and ultra expensive prices.

[200]: Keep in mind that you will most likely have to order the majority of the parts on your list as even the good parts shops often wont have everything you need in stock ready to go.

If you can head to Chiba, there is a new parts store close by called Crystal that I rate as the best in Japan for both range and prices, and if you need anything they dont have in stock, they are more than happy to order it for you.

Top Secret is also down the road and there is a decent Up Garage close by as well.

Autobacs "performance" aisles... yeah thats a joke. The "performance" parts are usually a couple of short aisles of STi stickers with an intercooler or two on display mostly for current models which are of no interest to skyline people.

Upstairs at Tokyo bay Autobacs sells some nice hotdogs and some kinda ok back issues of popular magazines like GT-R magazine. As well as a small collection of overpriced dealership catalog/brochures which is of some interest but I think I bought them out of GTR stuff a couple years back.

I would avoid autobacs really - or visit Tokyo Bay or Chiba Naganuma at the very most unless you love wandering down countless aisles of Hello Kitty air freshners and pink seat covers for your Toyota Hiace SuperComfort 4x4 turbo deluxe.

what they said about autobacs is correct... but if you want a cool cup holder then by all means got to one...

upgarage has the best prices on parts... used ofcourse but still good.. there pretty descent for wheels...

anything you want new u can order from a shop it will only take a day or two to arrive so thats not to bad...

Guys Has anyone got any updates as i'm going in 2 months and of course i'd like to come back with a bunch of goodies.

I'm flying into Tokyo and will also be around Osaka at some point, i do have some time and money to spend.

      If you are Ecutek tuned then these TCU tunes are anywhere from $550 to $700 usd. If you are not ECUTEK tuned, then it gets costly!

      Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?

      Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it

      All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.

      That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
