Yeah Known Richard for a long time now & he will not stuff you around, Good Pricing & a straight shooter will say what your car needs straight off... :sorcerer:

ALL STAR TUNING ON THE WEB

He may a good tuner but he sure as hell is not a straight shooter . I have since had it retuned in 4 hours what he could not do in 3 days. Not a good experience played me like a fiddle.

Went to Matty Spry today for a Dyno tune and got only 169.6kw, he wasn't happy with the result and directed me to AllStar to get new spark plugs.

So 169.6kw with no boost controller was the result with these mods running BP Ultimate

Apexi PFC

Hybrid FMIC

Apexi Airpod

Cat Back

Well he sorted out my car in 2 hours when numerous works shops could not in 6 hours or more!

Lucky for you mate . He is a sleazebag in my book. Any way there are quite a few other better honest tuners out there that do the right thing.

Heres what he did to me

1/ Did not mention his dyno was non existent

2/ I Brought it in at 8am said it would be ready in the afternoon .

3/ Rang me in afternoon saying its not ready and needs cold cranking setup in morning so needs it overnight

This is complete crap as a new out of box power FC for an r33 gtr is fine (found this out later)

4/ He was driving it to someone elses dyno gods knows where and probably driving it home everynight. (+300km odometer)

5/ Did this for 2 more days until I pulled the plug on it.

6/ Returned the car to me with original boost setting actually slightly lower. I told him to tune it @1 bar

He obviously already tuned it to that and either wound it down again or saved a dat file for the simple reason I wanted the car back and he wanted it again for another night

so got shitty Talk about rub your nose in it .

7/ At the time he said to bring it back to finish it off and me being a bit naive at times nodded and a day later realised he was playing me like a fiddle .

8/ The Map sensor and piping were incorrectly fitted that could have resulted in overboost. Sloppy workmanship.

9/ I am a fairly laid back person until someone fks me over and he sure did that.

10/ My car is mint (Auction grade 4.5A) very low K's

11 / Will go over entire car checking serial numbers etc against my records to see if anything has been swapped .

12/ Will never leave my sight again

So mate Theres my Fkn experience with ALLSTAR TUNING

So Why????????????? did I cop that.

He got to drive a nice car and pick up over 600 coins in the process

This isn't over.

I have since found a much better tuner who did it in a few hours as I reset the PFC back to datum.

All i can say they are perfect for getting a straight well pretty much straight AFR curve for boosted aps, and more than helpful if you ask them any question, and a good base to get and improve on results

Well i have the same sort of deal with them too, nothing here is made up all personal experience.

Dropped car off to get ecu wired into ignition (20 min job) the rest was done, some other random work and a dyno tune, i had brand new plugs in there but for some reason they wanted to put new ones in (not calling me either) and did the same with leads, so after 3 weeks for a 2 day job i have a $1500 bill and a dyno print out for 94rwkw, they could not pinpoint a miss with the coil packs i had said it was a unservicable ignition problem (cost me $70 for new coil packs)

Plus the fact my cam timing was out and i mentioned this to him and his reply was "Well it seems to run alright where it is" (Was 2 teeth out (SOHC)) + Many many more little thing but i wont go into it

At the end of the day i went to a place closer to me after i replaced this coil & ran some new wires and 94rwkw went to 296. Oh and that cost me .. $340!

I'll admit the car wasnt perfect when it went in but 3 weeks later bad communication and alot of bullshit costs is not on.

All of this has pushed me to learn how to tune my own cars.. getting there.... slowly.

Oh and rofl when i paid and went to leave he started making comments about my shit box blah blah shouldent even let me leave, duty of care blah blah, go on, try to stop me taking my car you goofy looking fish "Richo" richard.

I got a tune by richo, I wasnt overly impressed, the tune was safe but strange things started happening after it, his service wasnt up to scratch and when I had issues with various things I rang up a couple of times, the first time he told me the PFC was shit and I should just go to another ECU (after he did the tune he told me this mind you) and the second time I got someone else and was told he would ring me back, but never did.

Also, we dyno'd it on the stock ECU when I rolled in, I rolled out with a 6 kw decrease in power with the power-FC.

And the _only reason_ i went to these guys is because of a thread on here giving them big thumbs up, not until after the car was there did i start finding these other topics  Lesson learnt.

Ah well that was a little while ago now just thought i'd warn people.

hi everyone i have also had a bad experience with allstar and i have also posted my story on this fine forum we have here but apart from telling our stories and hopefully warning each other about the less reputable tuners out there is there actually anyway to report bad tuners? i mean dont get me wrong here this is not a personell thing anymore my skyline is running perfectly now having gone through 4 performance shops trying to find the right tuner but is there anyway to get some justice? instead of just complaining to each other, although it does warn each other but how do we warn these so called tuners that they need to lift their game or the authorites will be on there doors asking questions?

ok so 2 things;

1. For every good story you hear about a tuner/workshop there is a bad one also.

2. I have never heard of a shop that has never had a bad word spoken about them before sometime or another so that really puts them all in the same boat yeah?

My good experiences with Matt Spry, Mercury, Allstar, Godzilla are all good in my mind and I got value for money but to another person they might not seem as good.

Then there is 3 workshops around that have dudded me in the past and ill never go to again which seem to get a good rating from time to time from other people.

Lastelly if you have a bad experience with a shop, tell them... They might be able to fix the situation if they are aware of the problem...

Hey Everyone

I just got back from Allstar tuning this afternoon. Went in at 08h30, got a Dyno tune, and new castor bushes fitted. Finished by 12h00. I had no drama, Richard and staff were friendly and helpful. They gave me plenty of good advice. My car feels better now, pricing was standard, although i did get a discount for being a member. My car is a R33 auto, fairly standard. Only mods are a Apexi pod, Fmic and 17 inch wheels. Power on my car is not fantastic but good for near stock, 122kw atw.

They recommended a haltech computer for around $3000 fitted and all the rest. I don't have such extravagant wealth. I will say though, my overall experience was a good one. They let me wait around and chat to them about all sorts of crap. I am happy with them.

    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.
    • No those pads are DBA too  but they have colors too. I look at the and imo the green "street" are the best.
    • I’m not sure what happened I told them about sonic tunes free OTS tune and the next the I know .. I was booted..   To funny
    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
