So let me get this right, if i remove the 4 hole caps off the top of the RB25DET injectors they would they would be at ~550cc flow?

If this is so then im WRAPPED lol but how come none of the tuners have ever discovered this? would the single pintle flow cause any disruption to economy? or cause unburnt fuel?

people do know, iv heared of people doing this to wrx injectors for at least a year if not more.

on the test bench the one i done just squirted out one large jet rather then four from the factory 4 hole plate, i dont know what this would do for atomisation etc, but at the end of the day its still only 4 jets not some special mist.

Just on the RB25DET 370cc injectors I think they end up in the 550-600's depending on fuel rail pressure . The 270cc variety may be the same thing with smaller cap holes .

I'm trying to find out if Pulsar GA16 injectors are side feed and what they are likely to give with the cap removed because some people may want a cheap mid 400's cc injector .

From what the Americans say about the Subaru and Nissan injectors the spray pattern is like a narrow angle cone .

Just to refresh can some one put up the cc/Hp formula please .

Why would this be any different than fitting aftermarket injectors?

I agree with the ecu (or other piggyback/cut devices) to tune for best power/efficiency, but O2 sensors for each cylinder is a bit over the top.

Yep definitely no need for individual pot o2 sensor.

Get them flow tested and trim each cylinder accordingly. Or as people often do shove the slightly higher flowing injectors towards the back of the motor where its hotter.

So will anyone confirm whether this is a viable option and what disadvantages there are in doing this opposed to buying aftermarket ones?

Which would be either a static pic or some video of good quality, as the comparo between the two is whats going to be most valuable to this thread

Until then, its a bit hard to make a call. Great thread this with some potentially great info, lets just not all spam away asking if its possible until someone actually does some indepth testing :)

I flowed a shaved injector today, the spray pattern was just one fine jet, when compared to a stock injector it just had 4 jets, looked exactly the same just four rather then one.

I dont know what a good flow is suposed to look like, but its was just one big jet rather then 4 smaller ones.

No doubt it would look similar to the well known top feed rx7 550cc 'squirters'. :)

Best bet is to have some one check the injector out who knows injectors, let them know what you have done and have them comment on the spray pattern.

Remember the top feed gtr and r32 gts/t injectors are all single spray.

I'm linishing a set for my friends SR20 atm.

Also I know a turbo suzuki 1300 bike that uses "shaved" WRX injectors (they flow 880 cc or so) and that makes about 280 rwkw on them and does fine.

Also no matter what the jet its going to slam into the valve/head anyway and spray everywhere so I don't see it being a huge problem.

My friend will give it a go and see, aparently the varience of "shaved" injector flowrate is generally larger then proper large injectors from what i have seen.

Personally i run rx7 ser V squirters which are thought to be bad in the spray pattern dept., but im getting similar fuel economy to Cubes (10L/100km) with his GTR injectors.

People here with r33's are getting the same economy (if not worse) with their supposed better quad squirters.

Everyone tunes for the 12:1, so if we all get the same fuel economy and AFR's then i say go for it, as spray pattern wont mean much to the final product -UNLESS its a big dribbler

I dont think its a good idea to play with injectors that much. I went for the Nismo 740cc injectors 4 hole injectors as ive seen too many engines blow up from high flowed injectors or old rx7 550cc injectors. so i went new ones.

    • I dunno about that as a blanket statement. Pitwork is Nissan's "Nissan genuine" thing, and for stuff like timing belts, I have found them to be excellent. Of course, for things like oil filters, you always use proper trusted brands anyway, not whatever the OEM has taken to using.
    • Ahhhh... If you were putting 12V to the led in there, that's likely made it very unhappy. Chances are how you put power, was 12V across an LED that's meant to only have about 20mA through it at peak, and a forward voltage of about 1.8 to 2.4 volts. That circuit is likely only a 3V3 circuit, and will have a resistor in series with the led too. That's my guesstimate on that light, without having touched one.
    • Another vote for installing them and see how you go.  I mean, you already own them, why would you not fit them? 
    • I have had too many of those over the years, my cars have a toolkit or at minimum a cheapy multi tool thing because its too easy to be snookered by some stupid plastic clip that stops you checking the battery terminal isn't loose.
    • Basically, if there is a part# on the nissan catalogue, it is a genuine part. There is a thing called "new old stock" which is stuff made years ago but never sold (or landfilled), but it is super hit and miss what you can buy. Other than some expensive Nismo stuff there is nothing new being made that suits these cars. The only time to be a little careful is (mostly in the US I think, but maybe Japan too), Nissan started rebranding some cheap crap maintenance parts like oil filters as "Pitworks"; stay away from them, if you are buying cheap just buy whatever the local car parts shop carries The three part numbers have an explanation on Amayama: 0V005 is auto, base style 0V015 is manual 0V505 is auto, hectic momo branded ones, maximum F&F points there!
