I'm sick of driving my GTR around everyday for work. My company has offered to buy me a company car.

If you opinion, which cars are good choises

must have

- good fuel economy

- reliable

- practicle (hatch or wagon)

few choises are

- camry

- yaris

- accent

any others? or comment on the above.

Max budget is $16,000

Volkswagen Mark IV Golf. Volkswagen build quality, tractable engine, innocuous looks, comfy.

Yaris is an option. Its small and built like a Toyota. Might not be enough room, depending on your requirements.

The yaris is a great car though, I own a GTR and a brand new Yaris and drive the Yaris everywhere. And there is far more room in the Yaris than the GTR even with the drivers seat all the way back you can still fit a full size passenger in the back.

I folded the rear seats down on the weekend and fit an entire fully assembled BBQ including pedestal and accessories into the hatch with no dramas. its great.

Mazda and Toyota have a huge range of cheap hatchbacks to choose from, both makes are reliable and both are cheap as hell to run. As alast resort you could even look at... dare i say it... the ford range of small cars.

edit: i think the yaris is a kool car, easy to get around the city in, but dosnt really hav any grunt. will u mainly be driving the car in the city??

ill 2nd the yaris, one of my mates never drinks so ALWAYS drives us around in the yaris, comfortable, good seating, can park it anywhere, good on petrol nice stezza and the cops dont look twice

I've driven a rental one before and its really good for around town. Compared with a accent, it just feels a lot better put together and there is heaps more low down touque.

Calais wold be nice but too much fuel, plusi've got the GTR for grunt and i'm just looking for something a to b and reliable.

Is it possible to lease a yaris for $16,000?

brand spanking new, I'd go for the cute little yaris, or Honda Jazz

second hand, quite a bit to choose from.....maybe an older model honda accord...they have plenty of goodies in them

heap of boot space and plenty of power. down point is pretty high fuel consumption.

can you lease second hand cars?

My work's novated lease compnay lets you lease any car less than 6 years old. It can even be the car you already own.

Is it you or your work leasing the vehicle? If it's you (i.e. you're paying pre-tax dollars for it), make sure you understand the benefits (or lack thereof) of entering into the lease arrangement. You have to do enough KM/year to make it worthwhile.
