Hi Russell,

You own a very sweet BCNR34 there...

I havent been back to Malaysia for about 2 years now and I loved it especially Sungei Wan shopping centre but, from what I've heard though - there are much newer and better shopping centres built now...is this true?

When I was there, I didnt see any skylines at all - just protons with ferrari stickers on them *lol*

Anyway, I hope to be in KL in March so I'll be in touch for a ride la!

JUN: Haha.. Sungei Wang? There are quite a few new ones now....

The Skyline Club we have is also quite active.. theres a link to that on my blog..

We have heaps of those Protons! We've also got heaps of, 'Wajalutions' & 'Wiralutions'.. proton derived EVO wannabes..

I hope the car will be ready in 4-6 weeks, as after that I still have to run-in the engine.. and hit max rpm & boost soon!

Nice...Any chance of meeting up with you and the Skyline club around March?

Are there many import parts shops over there?

I own a R33 GTR and will be needing some new parts...

What do ARC radiators go for in Malaysia?

I may not be around in March, as I do 6 weeks work in the US and 6 weeks time-off at home, but you can still meet with the club when they have their friday night meet-ups in the Sunway/PJ area.. the club is big, but during the meetings we only get a handful of members, as most of them are busy working men..

Other times, we meet up with other groups, & have big convoys with Supras & EVOs as well..

There is a link to the club forum on my blog..

As for parts, 2nd hand parts go for about half the price of brand new, but subject to availability.

I do not know prices all that well, but I can get in touch with my mechanic mate back home for some quotes.. he is the man in the know and with all the contacts..

When I got my ride, it already came with the ARC radiator, but it sure is good, when the other cars have to stop to 'cool-off', my temp is still ok.. so must be doing something right..

Hey Russel, just got back from a month trip in Malaysia. I was staying at USJ5 not far from Sunway. Saw a nice blue 34 GTR racing a blue STi on some of the local roads there... wondering if it was you..

Roads there are crazy, and its easy to speed without getting caught. I miss it.

My cousins all go down to Putra Jaya or something late at night, awesome place to race when its deserted.

I'm from Malaysia (Melaka) and best car I saw the last time I went (2 years) the best car I saw was a TT Supra

I did see a R34 GTR for sale in the papers at the time too and it was selling for around $100,000 AUD which is a SHITLOAD of money for ordinary Malaysians.

How many R34 GTRs (or even Skylines) are there in Malaysia? I'm guessing not many!

Hello Wink, yeap, skylines are expensive here, and the R34GTR is still around that price range.. a lot of the enthusiasts are waiting for the 2007 GTR to be released, with the hope that the R34 will drop in price. Im not sure how many R34GTRs there are in Malaysia, but there are quite a few. Everynow and then we spot them, and post them on the 'skyline spotted' thread on our forum.

Craig: Hehe, yeap been to Putrajaya for a ride.. nice deserted roads, especially at night.. my car is actually at Sunway now, but I dont think anyone would be able to drive it, as the engine is on a hoist! But there are quite a few bayside blue GTRs around, I just havent met the owners in person yet. The most popular R34 are probably white GTTs.. you see them all the time.

Im from KL too and i still come back here at least once a year (as a matter of fact im in KL now haha) and everytime i come back there seems to be more and more imports on the road. Ive been back for 2 months or so and ive seen a heap of 34 gtt's and a few 34 gtrs. The rarest skyline is the 32gtr which ive only seen once and thats coz i know the owner haha.

Oh btw the 2nd hand parts here are dirt cheap compared to Aus. Im assuming that the people that can actually afford gtr's and the like here in Msia arent really bothered with 2nd hand stuff at all.

Btw russ which workshop do you go to? GT Auto?

bring me and Yawn for a ride in your beast bro. we're both back in KL for our uni holidays and wouldn't mind sourcing out parts if they're going for good prices.

loads of 34 gtt's running around nowadays compared to before, with a rising number of evo's / scooby's on our roads too. gotta love having a performance car here as driving in vic is sometimes a pain in the a*s with crazy popo's giving out random defects. :P

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
