Just driving into my estate then, from visiting my friend, was driving along at under (about 40kph) the speed limit (which was 50) and there is a lefthand corner (there is a roundabout, but i was turning left.

now, this street is partially obscured by trees on the corner, so i couldn't see too far in.... i go around the corner (still about 30-35kph) and there is a lady, 2 kids and a guy crossing the road just up from the corner (maybe 5 or 10 metres).

I see them when i'm about halfway through the corner, so i brake, with plenty of time/room to spare, and just roll along at about 10kph (so i didn't have to completely stop).

now the woman and the 2 kids walked across the road normally, not a problem with them, but then the guy feels it is his right to stop in the middle of the road and give me a death stare and start mouthing something off at me. I'm practically stopped by this stage and after about 5 or 10 seconds he walks off the road and i give the throttle a bit of a blip so i can put it back into first and drive off (synchro is a bit dodgey sometimes) and the guy gives me another death stare and starts mouthing off again.

then after i drove off, i see him looking at the car and what seemed like an attempt to remember/write down the numberplate.

now i'm not sure what this f**ktard is on / who the f**k he thinks he is or what he thinks he's going to do, but i nearly got out of the car and gave him a mouthful....

grrrrr... i'm f**kin pissed off!

So what happened here?

Some EMO who was having an emo moment chose to you to annoy and guess what? it worked, he transfered his anger to you,

What you should do is realise he is nothing more than an emo little boy and feel sad for him as his life will only get worse if he keeps up that sort of behaviour and also that he was lucky it was you and not some pshyco who would of broken his legs, and be happy thinking that, that may well happen.

Same thing happen to me, i turned left into my street around 10pm again doing around 35k and to my surprise found about ten kids playing in the street totally unattened, the stupid retards wouldnt move so i honked my horn few times, and flashed high beams

finally they moved and i drove to house and waited for the gates to open, while i was waiting a man ran out of his house and startted knocking on my windows, i wound it down and he WENT OFF HIS NUT at me, saying i was speeding and to slow down and give way etc etc,

I said i wasnt speeding, and you shouldnt let your kids play in the street, the man told me to watch how i drove and if he saw me do it again he would drive his ute into me :)

i told him to get over it and then reverese

THE same guy recently has yelled at my brother for driving fast (he probably was) the man said, my 6 yr old down syndrom son plays on the streets and slow down,

my bro replied mate a down syndrom kid shouldnt be playing alone in a street and then told him to piss off

END RANT.....

a lot of people are idiots...

but then again, if i was that guy and it was my family crossing the road i would have given off a death stare regardless of the circumstances, some people are pretty protective...

but yeah i'm come across many an idiot who crosses the road and doesn't even look at whether or not i'm coming down the road and i have to brake because of their incompitance...

Happened all the time when I was delivering pizza.

One time a bunch of kids sat in the middle of the road and wouldn't move, granted I knew them and we have history they just wouldn't move so I choose the biggest gap that the car would get through - problem is his hand was in the way. Warned him - he didn't move. Went over it.

Coming out they held big palm tree branches infront of the car??? WTF? As if I care if dominos car gets scratched?

People always used to ride on the road and not get out of the way thinking they were hell funny.

The kids in my street get off the road REAL quick in our estate, even when I am in the corolla...why...

Well they are left unattended, so I think it was my duty to inform the local neighbourhood watch about unruley kids throwing balls at people houses...After the local newsletter came out I could hear the parents yelling at their kids...good to live in a snobby suburb where your neighbours care what others think of them...

That and the fact that my brother does not slow down as he drives a 4wd...like any other tool in our suburb (I think there is a Prado/Landcruiser/Pajero to every family...

I totally agree with this topic but in my area its pricks on pushbikes. They ride in the middle of the road like they're the only ones around and they get pissed off at you for nearly clipping them when they're the pricks that didn't look where they're going!

One dickhead on a bike had a go at me when I beeped my horn, if I didn't beep he wouldhave been laying on the floor and I wouldhave been the worst person in the world! I gave hiom a mouth full but that don't acheive anything... they make bike lanes & pedestrian crossings for a reason and these pricks don't use em. I say f*k em all!

Hey Jason,

I hope you calm down and feel better about the situation soon.

In reality that tosser's life seems almost over to me anyways, a wife and kids and they are walking instead of cruising around in a Stagea

this country is filled with idiots

more so than any other i would say. on a per head basis we seem to produce more dumb ass hole people than anywhere else in the world. usually violent idiots at that. Well done though for keeping your cool about some cock head on the street and just laughing it off as a loser unhappy about his life.

You should have just run them down flat and use them as pizza toppings!

i hate that too.. in next sorta town from were ilive is half old people and half young familys..

i guess the young familys rekon every driver on the road is old people and dont mind if they just walk over the road when ever.. so i now make it a point of coming as close to a pedestrian as possible.. this is also in car parks...

CARS STILL HAVE RIGHT OF WAY...

what ever happened to look left and right before walking?

You should have got out and gave him a complete serve yourself.. sounds like they deserved it.

"I was going well well under the speed limit, I stopped WELL short of you, and there was no possible way I was going to injure you - now get the f**k out of my face and cross somewhere a little safer next time, as maybe you won't be so lucky when some ACTUAL moron comes past and collects you".

I have no tolerance for people like that, and it seems the only way they learn if you start harking back at them - then maybe they realise they were the ones being a little stupid. There are designated places for crossing the road, yet these days it seems nobody seems to care.

Hell yeh, I would've gotten out and had a crack at him. f*kn tosser.

See in our suburb, we have the sudanese people. I have no idea what country they think this is, but I tell you, a car goes a hell of a lot faster than a f**king donkey. I swear to god one day they are going to get hit. Middle of the night, walking down the middle of the bloody road... YOU CAN'T SEE THEM!!!

Baaahhahaaha... smile please ;) try living in Footscray... we have the worst of everything here but i'm not going to get into the racial comments now, but lets say they come from a country where they can use their O/S licence to drive here... and have you seen how they drive O/S...?

There was an incident in the Mall @ Footscray a month or so ago where this lady reversed and instead of hitting the brake she pressed the accel. pedal and slammed straight into a dude drinking coffee on the side walk outside a cafe. Well the dumb bitch had no licence... she was african but dun matter what she was she had no f*kn licence cos she was FOB and driving around.... Bit of a boo boo... :) silly...silly... people.

someone stares at you and you get upset?

f**k man, what are you doing driving a skyline?

Clearly the guy did more than stare, he was mouthing off and attempting to write down the number plate.

I've got to eat lunch but ill write more about this soon.

    • So, I started this repair and got as far as "fixing" the holes with some fibreglass. God all those years working on boats came back quickly. I decided I'd reach out to some rust guys just to see what they would say about it. I came across a guy about 40 mins away and went to see him. He said the windscreen needs to come out, that there might be some more bits around the windscreen and he'd quote them at the time. But his quote was $300 to remove and replace windscreen and $3k for the damage he can see. He said he could respray the roof for $1200 and the bonnet for another $800 (somebody has previously rattle canned it, its horrendous). This is $5300 + any small additional bits. It's a lot, I get that and the name of one of my fave youtube channels 'Not Economically Viable' comes to mind.  I'm not being financially rational, but I've taken him up on the quote. He's opening a new shop in November with more room, so we're waiting for that. I'll leave the currently missing headliner out until then. I'm looking forward to it being fixed and having the paint looking nice again (lots of clear coat issues on the roof too). / flame suit on.
    • Oh and some up-and-comings; New rear drivers wheel bearing. I'll do that this weekend while the diff is out. The car is already up and the d/c axles and missing exhaust will help with space. This is the last bearing for me to do and I've been dragging my feet on it. I also have some new EBC blue stuff pads for the car and some new brake fluid. I haven't ever flushed the fluid in this car and looking forward to it. I have 600 degree fluid to put in. Not exactly "race fluid" but better than the typical stuff I have been using.
    • A proper clutch/plate type mechanical diff with quite a lot of pre-load and high locking % is better for drifting. Much more consistent in its behaviour. A helical can be annoyingly vague and inconsistent in how it responds under the sorts of abuse found in drifting.
    • Some updates here. I pulled the entire interior out, minus some trim to respray the seats with Colourlock dye. It turned out really nice though I accidentally let the dog in the car after and she scratched up the front seat.  This is what it looked like before, the colour was just washing out everywhere but thankfully the leather was in good nic. Then after the respray   And after the bloody dog jumped in The headliner is out waiting to be retrimmed, but it will stay out now until Nov - see why below. I replaced the stereo/headunit with a period-styled Android headunit. I have no after pics, but I'll get some. This is because of the missing pixels. I tried to fix this twice with replacement ribbon cables but couldn't. Also the bluetooth interface I'd bought for this was crap. Then there's the rusty roof. Pics and info in this other thread. I have decided to get this repaired professionally, but I'll update that thread. This is why the headliner will stay out for now. I'll be getting the roof and bonnet resprayed at the same time the rust is fixed. I also had an interesting issue with my drivers door lock.  For a small period I was having issues getting any 12v power to the car - I mean *any*. It would have no dash lights, nothing. It happened while I was at the shops and I couldn't get in the car. So, we had 2 problems. The most pressing here is that I was locked out. I have only a single physical key hole on the car, the drivers door and no amount of turning would unlock the car. Surely it doesn't need power for this? The second issue is why am I losing all power periodically, The battery isn't dead, its almost like the battery isn't even there. Two issues that were surprisingly easy to fix. You fellow BMW over-engineering lovers will appreciate this. The lock in the door has 5 states; mechanical lock, electric lock, neutral, electric unlock, mechanical unlock achieved at -90 degrees, -45 degrees, 0 degrees, 45 degrees and 90 degrees. Although, the unlock is towards the front of the car, so opposite for LHD countries. Sticking the key in and turning 45 left or right is what is used 99% of the time. It activates the central locking etc. 90 degrees is for dead battery access and, obvs, only un/locks the one door. But because the mechanical lock is never used and is 27 years old, it seizes up. I was totally unable to turn the key far enough to get to the mechanical unlock (At the time of locking myself out, I didn't even know this was a thing). I eventually did it with some vicegrips and teflon spray.  I made a quick vid for other E39 peeps.   The battery issue is totally new to me also - It wasn't making sufficient contact between the post and the terminal. The terminal was bolted on tight, but the car wouldn't have power. After checking the battery with my multimeter I accidentally contacted the terminal and the battery post and the car got power. The battery was only a few years old and in good condition. I cleaned the post and the terminal with a wire brush, bolted it back on tight and never had the issue again. I'm still surprised that despite having solid contact it didn't work. Also, the car was getting Warragamba sized pools of water in the back when it rained. My initial concern was another rust problem. But when I went out on Weds while it was raining and while I had no headliner in I could see a steady stream of water coming through the roof mounted aerial. As this aerial is for the (now removed) car phone I pulled it out and whacked a blanking grommet in the hole. It seems fine now. I'm thinking I might get the hole permanently filled when the rust is fixed. Moving forward and things in progress; The tailgate needs some attention. I have taken all the trim off to clean it all and address some small rust spots. I have partially done all of this but I'll finish it up hopefully this weekend. As all the trim are now entirely devoid of trim clips I have bought a heap of strong velcro and I'm hoping it does a good enough job as any of this trim in good condition is super expensive and usually in Europe as we dont have many of the wagons here. Suspension and brakes!!! This is exciting. In the front; New control arms New sway bar links New lower Eibach springs (the only modification I'm planning on this car) M Sport shocks (these came with the car and will replace the longer shocks in the car) New top mounts Used 540i calipers (stock brakes suck!) New 540i disks and pads (22x296 mm for 528 and 30x334 mm for 540i) New front wheel bearings (thank all that is holy for bolt on bearings!) Annnnd in the back; New control arms New sway bar links Adjustable air suspension arms (fool the car into what the current height is so the self levelling suspension can match the new front ride height) New ball joints I'll also be doing a brake fluid flush while I'm in there. I'm planning on switching the car over to the 16's that came with it so I can clean up and respray the M Sport 17's. They've lost a lot of colour over the years and have some gutter rash. None of this will start until the E90 is back.
    • You mean you will regret it for drifting duties? I don't quite follow.
