I've moved on from HPI.. has to be something pretty decent in it to buy it now.. Get Autosalon more now instead..

There was a thread about this 4 months ago.. alot of people were wondering why there were so many ads from the same company the editor owns..

Always an interesting topic of convo aussie car magazines.. BRING BACK SPEED.. not the best I know, but atleast it had more than 50 pages in it.. Although I don't mind autosalon..

Yeah, I am a subscriber to HPI and I am getting a little dissappointed with it too. People have a whinge when there are too many Skylines in it, but lets face it, there are HEAPS of Skylines in Oz now and they are the most popular import, so why shouldn't the magazine have more of them in there??

I really liked Speed but it was shortlived. Would like to see it back too.

Auto salon Mag is gay...pick up the current issue and read the page that describes what it is like to drive a turbo.....It was the gayest thing I have ever read....and I read the script for broke back mountain

Yeah I liked SPEED too (maybe because my GTR was in it!! lol), more for the quality images and feel than anything else. It was certainly not a publication you could hope to actually learn anything from though with regard to modding. It was the Mitsubishi 3000GT of car mags, looked great, but not much substance.

i remeber speed it was like a sister mag or something.

not a big fan of HOT4s or autosalon as its all rice.but now they r changing ther diet to a bit of meat.. see a few beefy bits instead of vinyls..

anyway. HPi was real good around 6months ago. but its dying down. ;)

just thought ill let u guys knw whats in it so u can choose to buy it urself or not.

bahahahaahahahhhahahaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what no SCC06 article??

:P

Nah they chose not to publish it as they have "supported us in previous years and its old news"

I wrote up the article and gave them high quality images and nothing, they said that if we could do something original then they would be a part of it, but they have had enough cruises to sink a ship... They also suggested their readers have heard enough about skylines...

Zoom FTW!

Zoom subscriber for years now... Its an educational read...

It is a shame that the magazines are losing quality. I have cancelled all my subscriptions of magazines and I have a subscription with Ignition DVD and when that expires I am done!

Go to enough cruises and read enough forums and all the info you want is on there anyways.

i got my hpi today in the mail.. not too bad of a read i thought

i don't like zoom because its too many datsuns with huge engines in them running 10s and the like.. i like to see original cars modified in their original form to improve on it. not interested when thigns get too abnormal...

and autosalon is too many gay cars that are never street driven

speed was the perfect mix in my opinion. was shattered when it was axed!

thats true.

ive learnt more om my old work mates and the forums than from the magazines. but it is nice to get the GTR special from HPi that was a good read. this issue addresses oil and sumps and pumps.. basic stuff but it was good.

i did like the article on the evo9 MR

if u buy HPI from the shops u normally get an old issue and an old issue of ZOOM aswell. zoom was good but focuses more on drags. drift battle is pretty good. have a guess what that is a bout. but if u need infomation about cars. its not a good idea to just read it only. best is to talk to people who knw ther stuff.

my bro read the s13 RB20 conversion guide once and said that sounds easy lets put an RB20 in the S13 when we get some $$$. hehe

all in all i still think its worth the $10 a month.. :)

another one for speed. i'd rather look at the old issues of speed than buy any of the mags on sale at the moment.

then again, I see why they binned it in favour of quality publications like "2DMAX". :esarcasm:

Long ago I had a good relationship with HPI.. 2 leather covered non VIP cars in one issue was the last straw, it is now dead to me :)

Did everyone else get their Drift Battle? I scoured a heap of news agents here on the Sunny Coast with no luck.

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
