oh well guys, the gtr just wasnt up to the task!

started well but went bad pretty early on, we couldnt get 5th gear after the 8th mile runs at warwick because i miss shifted and spat a circlip of the end of the shaft inside the gearbox. that was okay as we were going to fix it friday night, but we still had to do 4 x nine hundred metre airportruns, so ended up running the engine in fourth gear for almost ten seconds as 8200 rpm, after the third time it didnt like it and started to make a nice noise from the bottom end. real shame as we won all those runs even with out 5th gear !!! :)

in hindsight it was not the smartest thing to do, as when we worked out the math, the oil pump was pulling out of the sump at 1.5 litres a second , so approx. 13 litres in 9 seconds at those revs.

luckily i heard the engine note change at idle and shut down, so almost no damage.

the boys from sydney in another r32 gtr came fourth which was pretty impressive.

mark was pretty happy with his 1/8th mile run 6.9 @ 106mph!! hehe

cheers russ

nah will be right vic snowy, but just going to see how we go in sydney before planing any further.

engine will be running again this sunday!! :D

we pulled the engine out last saturday afternoon, going in this sunday.

there is a street sprint on up here in two weeks which is a blast that we really want to run, wont have a dry sump setup for it yet though.

roy it was john bright/craig burgess that came 4th in a grey gtr.

i saw the most immaculate r32 aus delivered gtr i have ever seen, yesterday, f**king amazing! still smelt new inside. with original rubber on it!

cheers russ

LOL..if you are quicker then me at PI without running me off the track i will consider it...Though my spies tell me yo have been getting tyres etc on the car. Cheat! :)

hahahhaha, will i ever live that down :)

Yeah i saw your boss at trackside when i was getting some 2nd hand re55 since mine were showing belts and you can't get new ones atm anyway... he couldn't say enough good things about you - one of the best workers he's ever had - i had to triple check we were talking about the same guy :)

Giant - sorry to hear about the car, but bloody impressive that even in 4th you managed to win the 800m sprints, thats just nuts

Yeh Bright. They ran in Vic eith what i thought was a black R32 with plates very similar to mine. They were meant to readt Brighty and looked like BRI61Y or something. Perhaps he got a new ride. They are obviosuly good steerers...first time out at Sandown i think they did a 1:20 flat, maybe even a 19?!?!?

Ferni. LOL Ted is a champion bloke. Couldnt ask for a better boss. The fact that he is a die hard motorsport nut just makes him all the more cooler to work with/for.

I have to say it seems dutton really are doing it well. I just got their email about NSW and they look very slick and have all angles covered. NSW should be a great event with wakefield and the khana stages and then sunday at eastern creek AND WSID. plus they organise cheap car transport, discounted navi (with stages plugged in) and the live timing with SMS is cool too. If you have the dough and want a no fuss event it seems to be a pretty good way to have fun.

hi all the nsw round is only weeks a way and this year there are

3 r32 gtrs

1 gts4 me

1 350z

1 200sx

my car is all over the shead and will be ready next week

it looks like we will be starting

friday at wakefild park then going to goulburn airport the traveling down to fairbairn park hill climb and sutton road complex

satday at wakefield park full long circut then back to fairbairn park and sutton road complex

sunday we are at eastern creek raceway and wsid

the entery list looks like going to be a top weekend of raceing

I thought I could go to the R32 brotherhood for a co-driver. It seems I was wrong  So no Dutton for me as it wouldn't be as much fun doing it by yourself. The fact that so many Vic guys are doing it now... I really want to as it would be fun/healthy competition. Plus, need to beat my old team mate in whatever super duper sports car he rocks up in.

Yeah but he's under instructions from the boss that he's not allowed to try and win. They are just going to look cool. lol

So look out for a Ferrari F430 Spider in NSW driving like a grandma and go say hi to James. lol

Well, i think he would be better off in teh EVO. God knows the F430 has more grunt then my car and no doubt harder to drive quick...and he was terrified of my rwd car....and its worth nothing compared to the FUzz. Thats like being in bed with a stunner and not being allowed to touch

Yeah but remember they are there for advertising purposes only. If they drove the EVO they'd be one of 11ty Billion. But everyone is going to notice a rag top F430.

I think in Vic they might use the Exige S and give it a bit more of a punt.

He is the manager. Does nothing for the mystique of Ferrari and ultimate performance if its being beaten by Mitsubishis and 70s Cleicas :nyaanyaa: May as well join Rent A Bomb rather then P1 :domokun:

Anyway...may have to try and word up the Stig and see if he wants in on the '32 brotherhood

    • Mixing things up - installed some leather recaros to match the leather seat covered rear seats. Interior looks pretty schmick now except for some slight wear on the steering wheel which I will monitor and address if it becomes worse or actually noticeable!
    • Didnt realise RB's had more then 1 head.
    • I'm normally copping my own abuse from neglecting my daily drivers. "Those suspension bushes will last a bit more", "Don't worry about the oil leak, just keep topping it up". The project cars I'm always doing things slowly on them as I'm wanting them to be done better, and neater, and nicer. Luckily I don't have to deal with 18 year old Matt's "Learning to wire" stuff in the project cars. And there's only one piece of wiring I'm displeased about in the Landcruiser, and it's about to be cut out... However, the box loads of parts that have been going through this place lately for the Landcruiser... Brake pads Brake Rotors Full handbrake overhaul Wheel Bearings Seals Swivel hubs Steering Boxes Half the suspension joints Shocks Air bags (Ones to go in the rear springs for towing) Water pump Timing kit Lower timing case Harmonic Balancer Radiator Lots of other little seals and shits Gas struts for the bonnet New power window switches And god knows what else I've forgotten... Ha ha ha I have my fingers crossed the pinion seals don't start leaking on the diffs, that the transfer case doesn't leak, and the gearbox input shaft doesn't leak, nor the rear main seal. As they're about the only seals I haven't replaced in the driveline! I'm seriously eyeing off buying new caliper rebuild kits front and rear brake calipers... I'll probably recheck all the valve clearances soon too, and hopefully, it should be all good and sweet to haul some long distance trips again!
    • Every time I pull my 3x gauges out of the console and see the crack-addict way that I did the wiring, and I just can't bring myself to tear it all apart and "make it nice", because it is currently working. In fact, the last time I was in there I probably made it worse.
