Yeah i have read some... Its just that its so damn big, there's so many different conversations about what i wanna know its all just a little confusing... Basically, i've got a perfectly good RB30ET block with f**k all km's on it, im planning on puttin the R32 RB25DE head on it with all aftermarket bolt on's... I just wanna know whether the E and ET blocks are basically the same and whether i just need to use the RB30E spec pistons to get the appropriate compression ratio??? If not, what would be best???

If you are thinking about putting the head straight onto the rb30et block standard then it wont work. HOWEVER if you change the pistons to the NA spec then it will be ok.

The pistons in the rb30et are too low compression and the NA pistons should be used.

If you rebuild the rb30et block and put forged pistons in it to raise the compression up to the same for NA then it will be good.

Guys the RB30 vented coil pack covers are going to be cut soon any suggestions as to what is going to be on there would be great i have come up with at least a few say 2 or maybe 3.

"RB30 DET"

"RB30 DOHC"

"RB30 TWIN CAM TURBO"

"RB30 GODZILLA" for 4wd ones

"RB30 TORQUE MONSTA"

Maybe a "RB30 DOHC TURBO"

or " NISSAN 3000cc DOHC TURBO"

What did it say on the stock RB20/25 covers before?

r32 rb25de head stock with det valve springs big front facing plenum 80mm throttle body q45 afm. bottom end stockish rebuilt. shot peineed rods, and aftermarket rings, crank collar, either rb25 oil pump or n1

what would this turbo go like on it?

called a gt45

Inlet (Exducer/Hot Side) T-4 Flange 70.1mm x 82.55mm (2.76" x3.25").

*A/R 1.05 Exducer

*A/R 0.66 Compressor

*Cooling/Lubrication Oil

*Outlet (exducer/hot side) 4.25" V-Band

*Inlet (compressor/cold side) 109mm (4.25")

*Outlet (compressor/cold side) 86mm (3.38")

*Compressor major diameter 98 mm

my goal is 400-500rwhp. On a 20det modded manifold When would this size turbo start spooling and when would it hit full boost? 15psi. unsure of what exhaust manifold yet, either a 20det stock modded to fit the t4 flange or a whole custom mild steel one.

Can anyone help with some info on this? is this turbo 2 big?

Thanks

Too big, by a long way.

:D cheers ;)

PS; Shot peening used RB30 rods achieves almost nothing, spend the money on a set of ARP rod bolts

    • Bit of a pity we don't have good images of the back/front of the PCB ~ that said, I found a YT vid of a teardown to replace dicky clock switches, and got enough of a glimpse to realize this PCB is the front-end to a connected to what I'll call PCBA, and as such this is all digital on this PCB..ergo, battery voltage probably doesn't make an appearance here ; that is, I'd expect them to do something on PCBA wrt power conditioning for the adjustment/display/switch PCB.... ....given what's transpired..ie; some permutation of 12vdc on a 5vdc with or without correct polarity...would explain why the zener said "no" and exploded. The transistor Q5 (M33) is likely to be a digital switching transistor...that is, package has builtin bias resistors to ensure it saturates as soon as base threshold voltage is reached (minimal rise/fall time)....and wrt the question 'what else could've fried?' ....well, I know there's an MCU on this board (display, I/O at a guess), and you hope they isolated it from this scenario...I got my crayons out, it looks a bit like this...   ...not a lot to see, or rather, everything you'd like to see disappears down a via to the other side...base drive for the transistor comes from somewhere else, what this transistor is switching is somewhere else...but the zener circuit is exclusive to all this ~ it's providing a set voltage (current limited by the 1K3 resistor R19)...and disappears somewhere else down the via I marked V out ; if the errant voltage 'jumped' the diode in the millisecond before it exploded, whatever that V out via feeds may have seen a spike... ....I'll just imagine that Q5 was switched off at the time, thus no damage should've been done....but whatever that zener feeds has to be checked... • I think Fitmit had some, have a look on there (theyre Australian as well)
    • Hah, fair enough! But if you learn with this one you can drive any other OEM manual. No modern luxury features like auto rev-matching or hillstart assist to give you a false sense of confidence. And a heavy car with not that much torque so it stalls easily.
    • Actually, I'd say all three are the automatic option. Just the different trim levels. The manual would be RSFS, no?
