We have a 25 with as much or more mods that makes only 295rwhp@18psi even with a GT35 turbo ,much less than a stocker will make with the same turbo.Cams were so far out that it only made about 130psi cyl pressures even tho the block was shaved so far that the pistons were touching the head. There is a lot of shops trading in Australia with no idea so be very carefull as this guy payed for a race engine. The 295rwhp was a very small peak at about 6500rpm with less power than a stock rb everywere else and less torque than a basic RB20. Best thing to do is get someone to dial cams in and retune.

lol $40,000k? for only 360rwhp?

HAHAHAHAH your mate has been owned big time..... does he not know how to do anything himself?

If he had 40,000k to spend on an engine he should of bought a twin turbo jza80 supra and spent the money to have an 800hp monster but each to his own i guess....

I have spent like 2k on my car for engine mods and am making in the vicinity of 260rwhp.

I know that to go up i must get a new turbo, computer etc but i would still want to come out f*cking short of 40,000.....

I hope that 40,000 inlcudes bodykits, wheels etc etc....

Yeah well thats what im saying $40,000 for only 360rwhp is a joke.

And no it does not include bodykit, wheels etc.

my rb25det is making 274 rwkws at 17psi and 346rwkws on 24psi and im running gt3040 600hp garrett, spent half the money you have and thought that is alot! post up your dyno sheet, your power curve might give an insight to what is robbing you of power!

This is the best he has got out of it 390 rwhp.

But current tuner only got 360 rwhp.

It should be more for the money spent.

So where did the 40k go? All on red?

The parts you listed dont even come to 15k mate im afraid to tell you even with assembly of the motor

Unless your mate paid $3000 per rod, and $3000 per piston.

So its either your telling stories, or your mate is

The parts listed are a fair cry from 40k. Doesnt even come close to knocking over 20k

I'd say the figure of 40k was including things like rims, suspension, body kits etc etc etc etc.

But as cubes said (i did not have the time earlier), they are a LOT of things missing.

Even the turbo spec iteself.

All thats been listed is about 1/2, and its not enough detail for the items that are there, let alone whats missing

Maybe the FMIC has pressure drop, maybe the head gasket a whopper and its dropped the comp ratio substancially meaning mroe boost would be required.

Subzero, get your mate to signup and give the FULL detail and history, no-one can really help unless there is basically a thesis on what parts are there, whats been done, whats been tried.

What has not been tried etc etc. Its a lot more detailed that just listing some of the parts that have been used.

Simply saying a car isnt performing and asking for answers is like asking how long is a piece of string.

Ps. im moving this to Forced Induction.

Ok i have the reciepts right in front of me.

See, now we are getting somewhere. :D

Your finally listing all the parts that we've asked! Now expect a longer post qith lost of questions

Now we just need listed whats occured thus far with the tuner...

Have they been asked about it?

What was thier response on it all?

Have they worked with Microtechs in the past?

Are they an expirienced workshop?

What was the reason for not installing cams?

Just while we are here, in "section 2 & 3" that you listed your mate was ripped off something severe. :sorcerer:

More-so section 3 which i'll post here just to put things into perspective for you.

Section 3's total for me came to ~$9,800 not $15,000.

Gt 35 -40 turbo - $1750

custom plenum and throttle body - $1700 (v.rough)

custom fuel rail - $600

injectors - $850

Dump pipe - $250

3"exhaust and 3.5 high flow cat - $1100

custom exhaust manifold - $1500

oil catch can and braided lines - $450

radiator - $600

Labour and dyno time - $1000

Now, if he did pay $15,000 for all of that, it raises an instant question... who he is getting the parts from?

And take the over pricing in section 2 into account (roughtly 3k).

If it was the workshop in question, then i would be instantly changing as that pricing is very very incorrect.

So your mate has, just in parts, forked out well over (in my opinion) well over $8,000 more than he should have.

You should note sprys dyno used to read very very low. he has had it calibrated within the las 4-5months but 12moths ago i made 460whp at PITS then went straight (same day) onto a brand new shootout mode dyno and put down 530 in my gtr...

See, now we are getting somewhere.

Ok the tuner mainly works with motec and bagged microtech not good but have been going there for years and didnt trust anyone else.

When we got the results of the tune 360rwhp, he said that the map sensor was not up to the high psi that it was running with the microtech.

so he reduced the psi 22 down to 19.

No hasnt had much experience on microtech.

Yes experienced workshop.

Didnt put cams in, ran out of the $$$$$$ as you can see it had already cost a shit load, and they said it was making good power without them???

So whats the problem with the power curve, is that bad the way it drops off.

And thanks for everyones input so far its been a big help.

And just to clear things up.

1) All mechanical work was down in a experienced workshop.

2) The dyno sheet shown above is done at pits with the result of 390rwhp, no mechanical work was done there only the tune.

3) The current tuner has detuned it to 360rwhp and said it was the map sensors in the microtech. He had to reduce the psi as it used to miss and breakdown in high boost.

Yeah that is a big difference which one is accurate.

Well if pits was 390rwhp and the current tuner was 360rwhp his must be really low LOL. So that might be in our favour.

get some cams. after spending $40K on this thing another $1500 or so (cams and installation) would be well worthwhile. then go to somone who really knows the microtech product as it sounds like the current tuner is perhaps a little un willing to work through any problems with the current ecu.

btw, pls come clean! I'm assuming this is your car. just like the time I went to the doctor to talk about my mates case of c0ck rot. lol.

When i was at Chasers motorworks i was talking to the mechanic there and they were in the middle of building a motor for a r32 gtr, the motor pulled out and put back in including forged pistions and all that normal shit people do, including 2 gt2861's dyno and everything cost around 10k, when they tuned it they got 265awkw on 1 bar.. and probably get more out of it..

This other dude i know that had this s15, under 20k on every mod he done from stock incl clutch and ecu and tune and full rebuild forgies and shit seen him make 300rwkw.. For $40k i'd want a full blown race car lol

This is the best he has got out of it 390 rwhp.

Whats the 'new' rear housing?

.82? What was the old rear housing? Do you have dyno chart for that also?

    • I'd be very surprised if you can buy new OEM mats. But if you can, I want some too!  Do you have links to the variations you found? Also, where are you located? I found that Nengun is happy to list items to purchase but when you do buy them you'll get an email that it's actually discontinued. As far as I know the variations in floor mats are different colour schemes as well as automatic and manual having a slightly different shape. The automatic ones fit into a manual car without issues, but I think you'd have trouble fitting the other way around. I have photos that show the shape difference if you care. FWIW I bought sets of used floor mats in decent condition at yahoo auctions.
    • Hi 🙋‍♂️. Just bought my Unicorn but the interior need some minor work so it would match my expectations ;). I noticed it is hard to get used oem floor mats in good condition so i started to dig if there's any chance to buy set of new ones. I found two websites - nengun and amayama and it looks like one can still buy factory new floor mats in Japan, but thers a small issue. Some mats (i assume genuine, oem ones) are marked as G4900 and these are "discontinued". The ones you can buy are marked as G4911 but i have no idea if these are also oem, made by other producer or some lower quality replacements that looks entirely different. Can anyone help? 😃  P.s. there is also some strange indication - 0V005, 0V015 and 0V505. Any idea what does it mean? Would appreciate any help with this 🙏
    • Hi, Marek here 🙋‍♂️. I finally fulfilled my longtime dream - recently bought Stagea and now waiting for it to arrive in Poland. There's only few of these in my country, and one of the owners  recommended mi this forum as a source of all the info i'd need since now i own one  so here i am.
    • Version 1 aluminium airbox is.......not acceptable No pics as I "didn't like the look.....alot" Even after all my "CAD", and measurements, the leg near the fusebox just didn't sit right as it ended up about 10mm long and made the angle of the dangle look wrong, the height was a little short as well, meh, I wasn't that confident that Version 1 was going to be an instant winner I might give Version 2 another go, there's plenty of aluminium at work, but, after having in on and off a few times, and laying in the old OEM airbox without the new pod filter and MAF, there may be an option to modify the OEM air box and still use the Autoexe front cover and filter.... maybe This >  Needs to fit in here, but using the panel, and not the pod, the MAF will need to fit in the airbox though> I'm thinking as the old OEM box and Autoexe cover that is sitting in the shed is just sitting around doing nothing, and they are relatively abundant and cheap to replace if I mess it up and need another, it may well fit with some modifications to how the Autoexe brackets mounts to the rad support, and some dremiling to move it get in there, should give me some more room for activities, as I don't want to move the MAF and affect the tune Sealing the hole it requires to stick it in the air box is simple, a tight fit and some pinch weld will seal it up tight  I am calling this a later problem though
    • and it ends up being already priced in as though you're just on 91RON without any ethanol. Car will lose a bit of economy as the short and long term fuel trims bring down the AFR back to stoich or whatever it is for cruise/idle for the engine.
