He stuffed up. Had he done so on any other corner he would have lost (many) places. To get an advantage out of it is just plain wrong. A drive through would have been appropriate.

i still dont think man (boy, whatever) can be penalised for what happened. The conditions were beyond anybodys control and the cars can be unpredictable in the belting rain. Heaps of people went off rick just happened to gain a slight time advantage with his. I can see where your coming from, but i think in common sense prevailed here

Well I take the viewpoint that they are paid huge amounts of money for a reason. Teams also spend huge money on getting a few tenths advantage - so why hand it to team Wankinshaw just because Kelly can't drive?

By the way - during the podium presentation he looked like someone had run over his dog. Any truth to that rumour?

BB you are probably right about Ingall. He looks for all the world like he has lost his mojo. Can't qualify worth a spit. Current rumour is he may sign for Holden again. Dunno for whom, however.

I am in love with Glen Seton at the moment.

after seeing him drive a sports sedan at Oran Park GP last week, and lapping in the 1:03s!! (quicker than V8SC) I somehow think I am far too harsh on all these guys. Plus I have his FPR V8 seat in my car and he signed it for me

the Sunday telecast was shown at 10.30pm and was only 2 X 20minute highlights of teh 60 minute races!!!!

Well I don't know about everyone else, but it doesn't come as much of a surprise to me that channel 7 is making a complete dogs breakfast of the broadcasts.

You can bet your house the the remainder of the season being messed about to allow them to broadcast the AFL.

Ok, this is a bold comment. But 2006 will be remembered as the year the damn broke, the high water mark. V8 Supercars will start to decline in popularity over the next few years.

Surely the big ticket prices, the ham fisted money grab by Avesco and C7. The fact that the drivers are becoming wanker sports stars and not approachable sporting identities. Boring car liveries and i whilst the racing is still rpetty good....no series can continue to grow. Especially one reliant on only two manufacturers and a series that is becoming more swayed towards the big established teams with serious bank.

Rumours are around that DJR has been all but purchased by Carlin motorsport, meaning that many fo the big teams are owned by European parent tems like 888, Uncle Tom and Prodrive and now Carlin.

Big call! But you are right, 2007 may well be a high water mark. Bit like the late eigthies F1 entries.

Given that Holden & Ford are starting to wind back on their largesse there will be less money in the category. Whilst this won't affect Team Wankinshaw or the likes of 888 some of the teams further down the grid may well be in struggle town. But motor racing has always been about those with the biggest budgets winning the most races.

I hear what you say about the ticket prices - but there again $100 dollars or less isn't huge money to pay for a sporting event any more. That a number of the events are sold out (Wanneroo, for instance) makes it hard to criticise the circuits for their pricing structure. It usually just means one less $20 pie to be eaten on the day.

I have been going to the touring car series for more years than I care to remember. Hell one year not long after the start of the category I ended up standing nest to Tomas Mazera in the que for the pisser. Is that what you mean about accessible drivers?

For my 10 cents worth more than anything the cack handed way channel 7 is going about the tv broadcasting will hurt the category.

As for DJR well they struggled for money ever since the dodgy brothers over at Westpoint shafted them. Hopefully there are enough bogons out there wanting the Jim Beam merch to keep the mob formerly of Daisy Hill up front.

Voltaire famously said of the holy Roman empire that it was neither holy, nor Roman, nor an empire. In the same way I wouldn't call the racing exciting - putting the wet races to one side most of it is processional. The offtrack politics & goings on is more interesting than the racing....

For those Queenslanders who may be interested the Stone Brothers are having a 10th birthday bash at their workshop. Date is Friday the 1st June between 4 & 8pm. Drivers will be there stoking the bbq, apparently.

I completely agree with you roy. i can say that at the end of the year when JB has retired i will stop supporting and watching the series. The V8 category is starting to show some big holes in its previously been able to hide, **cough being sued by chinese government **cough

i'm really enjoying watching SBS and seeing all the "smaller" categories actually race each other. But then again I am biased toward the Sportscar / GT categories due to working and knowing alot of the teams and drivers

there are a few rumors that the 2L may try and return in 2009, as thats where the current market is growing and flourishing, not in the bigger sedans

AVESCO was claiming that a big part of why they went with Channel 7, was their willingness to push ahead with more unorthodox stuff, outside of the usual motorsports broadcasting. AVESCO & 7 claimed this was the only way to continue the sport's growth, since all the motorsports fans are already watching ! !

I'd suggest this simply means more V8SC heads popping-up in cross-promotional rubbish, with no real added value for traditional motorsports fans. I really, REALLY liked where it all sat with Channel Ten - except for the Saturday race usually being shown at 10pm Saturday night. I know Channel Ten had right of last reply, but I'm guessing AVESCO couldn't find the phone, to answer when they rang.. . . Which could have something to do with the truckload of ca$h that Ch.7 dumped in their offices !

Oh well, We can all take some consolation from the fact that Ch.7 paid SOO much for V8SC, they can't AFFORD to screw up too badly!

p.s. I'm going to keep trekking to Bathurst every year, no matter what (that's the motorsports whore coming out) but I didn't bother hitting Winton last weekend, like I have in recent years. hhmmmmmm.. . . .

have a look at the times the v8's are being shown in Adelaide

many of the rounds are being delayed around AFL, winton had a 1/2 hour high light package for the 2 races on Sunday and was shown at 10.30pm. This happened becasue channel 7 has teh rights / has to show 1 game more than what is shown on foxtel, however it only needs to be in 1 area. So on Sunday the collingwood, westernbull dog game was shown here in SA instead of the V8's

not to mention the issue over in NZ cutting the race short so they could televise the podium (apparently we prefer to watch the drivers spray champagne than race!!!)

and its now just VESA, the "Australian" was dropped as they now race overseas. (and may have had something to do with legal proceeding against AVESCO for fraud but that a different issue)

think thats enough of a rant

either that or make v8 supercars include non-australian built v8's

(although they are getting very good at building them: 600+hp from a NA 5L is a pretty good effort)

Do they do them in the scutineering garage or in the teams garages.

I'm tempted to get up early and have a look but not if its done in there own garages.
