Hey guys..

Im considering upgrading my car (S2 96 r33) to a r34 gtt.. or even a 33 gtr

But i was wondering if anyone here has done so?

What are you thoughts? Did you like the feel of an r34 better than your 33?

Is the 34 too big?

Not worth upgrading?

So please if you could list some pros and cons that would be great!!

Personally i dont know if i could sell my car(love it to bits).. But have owned it for 1.5 years now (i know it isnt long)

Or on the other hand, i would love to own a 33 gtr (but i think the costs to maintain a gtr would be much higher)

Im still at uni, so i dont work full time to afford things quickly..

Or i might just keep it till uni is over, find a full time job and then upgrade..

Cheers for the help!!

I have a freind with an r34 gtt. I drive it all the time. It feels heavier. Substnatially heavier. It feels a lot slower around corners. People always say r33s are boats compared to r32s. I feel the same about r34 gtts.

In terms of powering them up, they're both capable of being powered up similarly. Power depends on your mods, and with the same mods, power is usualyl similar.

An r34 gtr is a completely different story.

I have also driven another friend's r33 gtr numerous times. In terms of traction in relation to power, e.g. on take offs, and when you plant it, the gtr has a lot more traction. The cornering is hard to describe. It feels less nimble because it's a lot heavier, but at the same time, it also has more traction.

Ok the R34 feels like a MUCH newer and better car than the R33.

Personally i think it feels more nimble than the 33, but not no-where near the 32 in that regard (ive owned all 3 - currently 34 gtt).

The R34's interior is less spacey and the car is slightly less length, i think you'll find weight is fairly similar.

The 34 gt-t would be an awsome upgrade for you in every single regard, inside/outside its such a nicer car. In terms of engine mods, even though there's a handful of kw more claimed by nissan it's only really at the bottom end you find the neo much better to drive, won't make THAT much more hp on standard turbo so don't let that throw you off.

I do agree with the above comments on the GTR, its interesting how it feels heavier in the corners yet will still find much more traction! In a straight line its soooo much easier.

If your still at uni, keep your R33 and sell it once your done with your studies and into a job, worry about the car afterwards (unless you have years left hahaha).

I do agree, that the r34s do look a lot bigger.. I dont really like the interior either.

The 33 is simple and so neat!! Maybe i might go the gtr route one day..

Yup i think i will take your advice jazza. Finish uni, find a proper job then think of upgrading..

But the 33s are everywhere.. Prices have dropped like crazy >_<

much nicer sitting position in an r34, It felt like I sat much higher in my old r33.

Interiors aren't that great in most early to late 90's cars to begin with... (Supras especially, yuck) but nissan did the right thing with the triple guage clusters in the GT-t.

The r34 has a much nicer overall appearance IMO, though I have to say the rear end styling of the r33 is still my fave.

But yeah, stay with the 33's... the less r34's going around the more special I feel

Yeh i 2nd that call hahaha

Prices on all the models have dropped heaps! Its just funny that R32s and R33s are similar in price lol

Not here in N.Z, most r32 gtst's you see for sale here are normally around 6-8g for a decent one (any cheaper than that and they are usualy a used and abused heap of crap) ,series 1 r33 gts25t's go from anywere around 7-10g, and series 2 r33's normally sell for around 12g for a high km junk one, and then anywere from 14-18g for a mint condition low km one. Some have even been advertised for 18g+ from car dealers.

Wierd!

Over here 32 gtst's and 33 gtst's can be similar in price when they are similar in condition/mods. Generally series 2 r33s will go for abit more, but you can import them for SFA.

You don't pay the tax's/duties we do on the car's, hints the awsome prices! NZ car prices for the win hehe

I did the reverse, R32GTR S1 to R32GTST S1 to R34GTT then to R33GTST S1 (although I still have the R32GTST). Personally, compared to the R33, I found the R34GTT much better, newer, more nibble, more power (before and after mods), nicer gearbox/clutch action, better brakes, faster ABS, better interior, more responsive engine, nicer dash.... all the sorts of advantages you would expect a 5 year more modern car to have.

:( cheers :ninja:

Hey guys..

Driven the 34 gtt and 33 gts-t own a 33 GTR

34 did seem a much better package and more modern, everything felt more refined than the 33 GTS-T's I've driven. However the extra power, traction and cornering ability of the stock 33 GT-R moved me to it. You pay more for a GT-R but it is a jap "super" car, a gts-t is mearly a fun car in comparison. If you are seriously modding then things might be different.

Thank you very much for the great info!! Keep them coming if possible. .

Doesnt the 34 seem like a much bigger car than the 33 tho?

I like the lines of the 33.. very neat and simple!!

Maybe im just too attached to my car lol..

Did you guys pay more for insurance on the 34?

32 feels very small, 34 feels fairly comfortable, 33 feels like a bloody family car! hahahah

Each to their own but the 34 is more compact inside than the 33 is. I even had gauges etc in the 33 sittin on the pillar etc and it still felt much more spacey than the 34 does.

Drive a 34 before you even think about making a decision, you'll understand what ppl mean after you do that :(

R34 GT-T > R33 GTST. Simple.

R34 is quicker, handles better, looks better, has a better interior and is FAR less common. What appeal does the R33 have left?

The only reason you'd go an R33 GTST over an R34 GT-T is price.

R34 GTT no doubt is a nice car. But it would be hard to justify the extra $10k you'll be paying for marginal improvements. If you had to choose between the two, you would get the R34 based on it's looks. I personally like how it looks more aggresive, especially with a Nismo front bar. R33's looks are more subtle & sleek.

I currently have a R33 ser.2 Gts-t. It is a 'fun' car, except for in the wet :glare: I think I will be going AWD next time so I don't have to worry about traction so much in the wet.

hmmm, after reading this thread , im almost tempted to go drive a 34. i own a 33 s2 4door gtst and i thought it was quite nimble (it has modified suspension). i do find it a but gutless (160odd rwk with an exhaust). ive driven a s1 and to me it felt 1/2 as good to drive. im very interested to hear more :glare:

    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
