make no mistake....

I will BAN the next person that comes on here claiming that RB stands for "Race Bred". and wtf? the url is racebread.com ?? that's some fast dough! f**king american skyline fanboys n knowitalls... think I have more braincells than their collective in my left testicle.

THANKYOU!!!!

Because Japanese don't understand the meaning of 'Race bred' in it's English context as used in way it has on the www.racebred.com website, and they'd never use such a phrase for what is supposed to be a simple alphanumeric designation for an engine. The do however understand 'Response' and 'Balance', these two words are used in everyday Japanese language, they've been used heavily since the US occupation after WW2. Anyone thats lived in Japan or who speaks fluent Japanese would know this. Anyone who has just a passing fancy in Nissans or Japan/Japanese cars wouldn't. (ie: the person on Yahoo Answers)

More eg:

ECCS = Electronic-Concentrated-Engine-Control-System

ATTESA E-TS = Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All Electronic - Torque Split

HICAS = High Capacity Actively Controlled Suspension

I can't understand the urge some of you have to resist the meaning the Japanese are using, and sticking to what some random Aussie or whatever said. Where you at all disappointed when you Mum told you Santa wasn't actually real? Seems almost like the same situation...

gazza750: to answer your question, I'll send an email to Nissan but don't hold your breath on a forthcoming answer.

hate to nit pick, but in regards to ECCS i was under the impression it stood for Electronic Computer Control System.... because the one you have written would make ECECS ?

I could be wrong though.....

First of all,

Hello Rezz, nice to see you are still stirring the shit with IQ on your side.

Secondly, Shan, where have you been you snobby well tanned biach!!??

RB...... lets put it to rest, Really Bad (in the Michael Jackson dictionary bad = good)

VQ means Very Queer.... this shows Nissans humour when Renault took over.

Race bread, this is the bread you take to eat at the track if you want to do sik burnouts.

If you want to argue with Rezz you will have to do better than ....der I still thinks RB stands for ...derr... race bred.... derr...

RB.....can also stand for..

Real Bad-ass

Real Ballsy

Real Bitch

or if your Aussie.....real bute.

Or on the other hand can stand for...

Just another Engine serial number...ie...VL....VP....VR or my favourite.....VS...Very slow...lol.

Response Balance.....there is nothing on my car that says.......Responce Balance on my glove-box like the Radial tunned suspension Holden had...

So everyone move on to better pastures.......I quite like the sound of....Real Bitch though... :)

It means f**k all, its just codes for series of engines.

All of the Race Bred, Response Balance shit came after it was out. not during the naming process

Call it what u want, each to their own. but it doesnt actually mean anything.

I'd like to know what some of the following nissan engine codes "Mean" then. hah

CA, LD, KA, MA, QG, CD, CG, E, FJ, L, RD, SR, TB, VG, VH, VQ, Z

here we go... *waits*

Am I the only one that wants to stab EVILTD in the eye?

i have a shank lol. lets get him

You should see his other threads....the guy is a shit stirrer...VTEC Yo!

yeah man ive read one of his threads talking about him racing down a road and not seeing a round about (idiot) and then going mid air throught a bus stop in some honda POS s/charged he reckons

i say ban the mofo

RB stands for Rotary (is) Better

i lol'd

    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
