Nothing special

Bloody autosalon car....

With the times you were getting at MDTC you will be into the low 9's next time at wakefield if you drive it the same way.

I'm back at wakefield tomorrow, hope to crack a 10 for it's last NA outing there. Should be fun.

new engine, almost ready

Oh well here it is.

It started as a nice street car when I bought it albeit with a massive body kit...which is now safely tucked away under my parents house, so its back to a standard non M-spec front bar, no skirts and the little drift lip/wing/spoiler

Split an oil cooler line 2 weeks after I got it and junked the original motor, so got it rebuilt and It lasted 2 years before breaking a piston ring.

So now its getting a standard bottom end I bought for 200 bucks.

while im was doing this I thought id get a few goodies for it.

Its pretty basic for a R33 Chassis wise consisting of Jap Spec Tein Super Streets, Adjustable rear upper arms, Adjustable Caster Rods, Tomei Hicas Lock Thingy, RDA slotted rotors on the front with QFM pads in there now, Used to have APexi Pads which were by far better but I cant seem to find them anymore.

Engine/Driveline Wise Its got an Ebay exhaust manifold, 38mm gate, and a KKK K27 Turbo, Greddy Copy Plenum, OS Giken Twin Plate Clutch (the good 600hp one) 50mm Radiator, Oil cooler and relocation kit, Used to have a Power FC Pro...but I sold it, so its back to standard Injectors, AFM and ECU untill funds allow. So no track time untill thats all sorted

Wheels are 17x8 URAS NS-01s all around with average firestone tyres...mind you the went ok at wakie when I was there last.

Finally it has a "drift" brand seat which does ok but sits too high for my lanky ass.

So Semis are on the list aswell and so is a better drivers seat and a some what less ricer interior :)

mmmmmmm nice turbo Dave, it looks familiar. was'nt the one on the R32 internal gated???

lol, can't weld plastic to metal steveo! and I wouldn't want to use the shaft weleded as a shifter. gearnobs just screw on my man.. there are a few getting around. snap-on screwdriver handle gear knobs. they even make snap-on screw driver handle keys. so it looks like your starting your car with a screwdriver.

and yes the snap-on screwdriver gearknobs and keys are the height of cool! I might grab some next time I see 'em. :) I'll even buy you one for Christmas steve and we can weld it to your shifter on boxing day. :P that's the kind of guy I am.

You cant weld plastic to metal? Wow, news to me :D

I meant cut off the metal shaft half way and weld big man

So we've had dildo knobs, screwdriver knobs, whats next?

lol it will neva live down its autosalon beautifulness :)

Not fussed about beauty just how it goes!

Yeah i was pretty chuffed with the 43.7 @ MDTC (keeping Ant honest) but i totally agree with it being capable of sub 1:10's... i know it can do it easily as the 1:10 i was doing was just so so terrible... brake shudder, +5mm toe out on rear (stock toe arms are fubar'd) and only able to get 3 laps out of it before it became undrivable... but thats motorsport and i know next time its a 1:09, or if it is a special day.. a 1:08 sumsing.... :P

Let me know who the silvia goes/went today!!!

mmmmmmm nice turbo Dave, it looks familiar. was'nt the one on the R32 internal gated???

same turbo, new housing :) i am not going through those boost control issues again.

So anyway, despite a horrible understeering pig of a car at the start of the day and me thinking i'd be lucky to be doing 13's i was surprised to see a best time (freak lap) of 1:10.3 or so from a previous best of 11.7. Not bad for the addition of some rear camber and a few poly bushes.

Added a bit of front toe out, dropped the front tyre pressures to the point where it was feeling pretty good and managed to get it to 10.1 with a lot of 10 second laps strung together. My mate was also driving and managed to crack a 9.9 something in it during the last session the bastard.

It really needs a bit more front camber but i just didn't have the adjustment left in it to get any more so it would still understeer horribly in a couple of situations but was reasonably happy everywhere else once i figured out how to get it to turn in.

No prob, if you have a vin I have fast so I should be able to get the number if you dont have it at hand.

Ross

Hey Ross, I've decided just to grab the whole pump assembly from the states mate as it's quick and not too expensive. Thanks againfor your offer though, very much appreciated! Did you go ahead with you rewiring kit in the end?

Oh, and good news, engine is apart and all is well. Thank fark for that!

    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
    • Nah, that is hella wrong. If I do a simple linear between 150°C (0.407v) and 50°C (2.98v) I get the formula Temperature = -38.8651*voltage + 165.8181 It is perfectly correct at 50 and 150, but it is as much as 20° out in the region of 110°C, because the actual data is significantly non-linear there. It is no more than 4° out down at the lowest temperatures, but is is seriously shit almost everywhere. I cannot believe that the instruction is to do a 2 point linear fit. I would say the method I used previously would have to be better.
