btw....what is still to be done??? when and where to debut it? I'm sure you know getting it to the first day is really only the first step, still lots of work getting it to handle well, will be a very tidy runner once it is sorted

looks rubbish. try harder next time

LMFAO !!!!

My update: The FD is still in a million bits, but hopefully on the track post-Targa; on the bright side I sold the Evo III and its doing Targa in a few weeks with new owner... on the dark side I bought yet another FD and this one is now in two million bits... may see the track post-Targa 2020 !!

To reply to you duncan, the new intake has to be built and the radiator has to be dropped three inches.

Also i have been waiting for the new balancer and cam gears from the USA

this is the 180SX wit the sledgehammer rear gaurd flares done! Its now as near to finished as its ever been. If anyone has some Type X bumper extensions for the front gaurds that would be tops!

Lakeside tomorrow

small updates,

finally got my 4inch intake pipe made up, also in the processes of making a box for the airfilter

Also test fitting the new kit

going to run the bn sport kits for drift events (suits the style lol) but will run my nismo bar on time-attack. Will have to make some ducts on the bn bar as the open sections are HUGE! but try some ducts to the brakes

Took the car to the track few weeks ago, did a 59.0 seconds on the short track at Barbagello, was a very interesting drive, running my old tune. was only using the wastegate spring so running 16psi and running the old tune which was 18psi on a 2835pros very very laggy, full boost at 4000rpm and every gear change there was lag, Also my endless pads started to die after the 1st few runs so had to take it easy on the brakes.

However the car was awesome the next day for the drift prac. amazing at the amount of speed i can carry sliding :D

Still got along way to go regarding suspension setup.... Finding it bit hard to get any info in regarding base setup so me and my mate (who is a ferrari mech) have just been playing around with things so far we have gone with 38psi f/r, dampers +8 and rebound +10 front , dampers and rebound +10 rear (from the softest setting). I was happy with this car was very balance good grip. Will need to change things around for drift as the front end is alittle to grippy and pulls the front end into the apex too much.

but overall really happy with how things are going  its great to be able to get back on the track after being away from it for 3 years

fark me you had some pace today, was great to watch.

My shitter at carnell the other week. I was going to go to lakeside but blew it up at QR yesterday.

Maybe we should start a black 180 car club :D

hell yeah, the black 180's were out in force yesterday! shame yours didn't make it. It looks good - the CA front bars are so much tougher (and more practical) than the SR front bar. I have a good stock 110,000km SR20DET blacktop in the shed if you're looking for an engine?

Ahhhhh Harry, I was looking for an SR20 a few weeks back! Pity I didn't know :D

I was trying something new......... Air cooled RB25, didn't work out for me ;)

Massive split in heater hose/turbo water line and cooked the engine bad.

exact same way I killed my last motor

    • I certainly fall into the annoyed camp, but glad to hear that if it's happening at low boost then I'm not likely going to blow a turbo and end up with metal shards in my oil. Just feels like it prevents me from really driving it without hesitation and "peak" performance. Wonder if it's the VCAM, it did an impressive job of shifting the torque curve and faster spool, but maybe now it's "too fast" and there's too much air for how open the throttle is.  Based on some other threads, will also do some reading on synchronizing the actuators. They are the default actuators that come on the Garrett's and I would think they would be set the same coming from the factory, but if the turbos don't actually work exactly the same way at the same time as previously mentioned, it would be worth making sure the actuators are actuating together properly
    • I went down this rabbit hole before, ended up sourcing a motor from the UK (I'm in Japan) which also didn't function correctly. With the original motor, I disassembled it and reassembled it and it works somewhat, sometimes. What I could deduce from all my screwing around is that there is calibration of the gears on the inside of the motor and two ramps on the main gear which activate switches that operate the motor and move the sunroof either to retract into the roof or tilt. Where I got stuck was that, it seemed in my case that one or both of the switches that are activated by the ramp on the gear did not always activate and thus the motor did not move, causing it to sometimes not retract or tilt (apologies, I've forgotten which way it didn't work.).  Of course this part is discontinued at Nissan now, it's the same part in the S15 but no other models. I also contacted the manufacturer of the component for schematics - forgot the name, they're based in Gifu - but they declined to share the information due to being bound by an NDA, sadly. Looking through my pictures now, it seems I last had a crack at this in 2022. See, I so kindly wrote "open" and "close" next to the switches. If you figure it out, please do tell me. Those little switches, with the red buttons may need to be replaced.
    • It says 300ZX, does that make it an Aus delivered car? Funny how back in the day I just couldn't care less about Z32's and these days I am just in love with them. Back when Nissan was into pushing the envelope. 🤣
    • Hi guys, just after some guidance with an R34 sunroof that has stopped working correctly. It still opens and closes perfectly fine, but it no longer tilts/vents up or down. As a result, the rear of the glass now sags a bit as it drops down slightly in order to retract into the roof, but now it can't pop upwards into a flush position. I’ve probed the pins on the back of the switch connector with a multimeter and it seems like both switches (for open/close and tilt/vent) still work correctly. Any ideas on what it could be, or where I should even start in terms of diagnosing? I'm sure someone's had this issue before but I haven't been able to find anything online relating to this specific issue, most of the issues are with the seals leaking or the motor failing entirely. Thanks in advance!
