Cruise meeting spot: Lakeside Cafe', Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens, Toowong @ 9am - Depart time: 10am -- Cruisers must sign event registration at cafe' (parking in lot opposite entrance)

seeing as I am lazy and couldn't be bothered reading (and am apparently retarded because I have 300rwkw) do we all have to fill in the form? Ie is everyone on the cruise automatically entered in the show and shine? I am thinking about coming but due to drinking tonight it is no sure thing.

Where on cootha are we meeting up? There's a few carparks around the place, don't want to end up driving around there over and over again looking :(

The cruise is meeting in the car park at Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens, which is at the bottom of the hill, where the big glass hot-house thingy is, and the planetarium - that you can see from the freeway. NOT on top at the lookout cafe'.

There's also a car park directly across the road from the main entrance of the Botanical Gardens.

Everyone who particpates in the cruise and/or the show'n'shine must register first. The $2 covers you for the cruise, show'n'shine and entry, if you just want to have a look. You automatically are entitled to everything, but you are not required to do everything. Its all optional.

If you want to do just the cruise or both, obviously you'll have to get to the Botanical Gardens early to get your registration fee in.

If you only want to do the show'n'shine, just turn up at Lakeside and register and pay there. The cruisers will be expected to arrive around 11am, so if you going this way, then you might want to think about coming a lttle earlier or a little after 11:30am

I'll be there and I'll bring a mate with his R32GTR.

Im just trying to get my head around what this entails. Do we get to drive on the track, and do burnouts/drifts/skids and stuff? Or is it just a car show to support the reopening of lakeside?

Jason

awesome event Scott

great turnout, great cruise

some really nice looking cars there

numbers there i think doubled expectation (maybe even more)

sounds promising about it re-opening

great day

thanks :)

F**k all SAUers but. :) peoples you missed out on a top event

Hey guys just got back from lakeside and i gotta say it looks awesome. I hope the turnout was enough to get it reopened. There was about 6 of us there from SAU that i could recognise. I saw GTRgeoff, R33 S2, pnk32, s!k 31 and a couple of other skylines, including my R32 GT-R and my mates R33 GTST. For turnout we got hammered by the old school muscle and rotor crowds, but they were all so friendly and made positive comments on our cars so it was great anyway. Some of the show n shine cars were joking i hope, as i saw a bog standard late 80's falcon with the bonnet up amongst the showcars. :laughing-smiley-014: Oh and you guys are so friendly im coming to as many SAU events as i can from now on (work might give me some trouble but thats what sickies are for). Next time i hope to meet more of you.

What an outstanding turnout. I'm gobsmacked but absolutely amazed by the amount of support.

A really friendly day and I don't think it could happen elsewhere. I talked to heaps of enthusiasts, got around the track with Noel and Chris for a walk and relived some old times.

Pine Rivers, time to stop holding out. Re-open the track dammit. What greater message do you need? I think there was more there than for the stupid Copper support march.

Thanks for the efforts by the Lakeside Motor Racing Enthusiasts for their great efforts in raising the profile of the plight of our track.

Twas a great day indeed. So many ghosts in that place. The track is still in remarkable condition given the years of neglect. Mow the lawn and go racing actually.

Great representation from most car clubs and a stunning turnout from the bike fraternity. Even the organisers were taken short by the numbers that turned out on the day.

If the powers that be cant see the absolute neccesity of reopening that place after today then it is doomed.

    • That is way more science than even I would use. I just eyeball it, not even accounting for the non-verticality of the tape measure when held on the lip and the centre at the same time. +/- 2mm is good enough for the girls I go out with.
    • So, before putting them in I need to understand the stock ride height. This is how I measured it: First, check the diameter of the wheel's centre cap, it was 52mm. Then put a piece of masking tape approximately across the centre and measure 27mm (half) from at least 3 sides to get a reasonable idea of the centre of the wheel cap. Mark that with a horizontal line as one measuring point. Then, directly above the wheel on the guard, put another piece of masking tape in approximately the centre. Use a string line to find out the point on the guard above the centre of the wheel cap and mark that. Then it is simple, just a tape measure to check the distance from centre of the wheel to the centre of the guard. Final results where  LF: 381mm RF: 379mm LR: 401mm RR: 400mm Pretty even considering they are 120,000klm old factory springs, lets call that 380 front and 400 rear.
    • So....knowing that I have a problem with power steering temps on track and another Wakefield day booked in next Friday, I've done the obvious thing They are very reasonably priced at $1650, considering they are a big monotube shock, double height adjustable (don't have to change pre-load to change ride height), one way adjustable damping and standard sized and customisable springs if you want something other than what comes with them. They come with 9kg/mm front and 4.5kg/mm front and I went with that as a starting point because I'll add adjustable sway bars too https://justjap.com/products/bc-racing-coilover-kit-ds-ds-infiniti-q50-v37-14-current#description Unfortunately they didn't come with rear strut tops so I've re-used the factory ones which was a bit of a pain. Also, the adjuster for the rear shock will be an absolute nightmare to get at, and while there are extensions in the kit I can't see any way you can actually attach or use them
    • I also had 2 bulbs blow at once, years ago in the stagea. made for a fun drive home. The issue was the voltage regulator had failed in the alternator and it was giving 15+ volts. Really, I was lucky all that was fried were the headlight bulbs. So, I'd suggest you check the voltage across your battery terminals with the car running and warmed up. Yes, you will need a multimeter to do so, sorry.
    • Good work to think to check that, and thanks for coming back to post up the outcome.
