I was stoked - PB for me of 15.9 (on street tyres). Even tho its not great its still more that two seconds quicker than i'd done before, and no offs. I still had brake problems. Pretty sure they're dragging causing overheating so its caliper rebuild time.

I hope no-one had anything expensive break. :)

The underside of my car is just caked in mud. I would have liked a bit of rain on the way home just to clean it off.

No expensive damage for me, just an exhaust stud ripped out of the head. More of a pain than anything, as it will require removal of the manifold to get access to it to drill and helicoil.

Great day all round, managed to get down to 1.17s by the end of the day, not too bad for a noob on street tyres, if anyone has any fotage or fotos of the black 33 GTR i would love to get them off you

Good w/end.... action packed, full of drama and speed :)

Cefiro went ok.... had a cooling problem first session but was quickly sorted... only could muster a 1:15....couple off my PB, putting it down to having the car sitting about 2" higher and running on cheese grater 205 tyres..... but overall i had a great blast...

Oh and a massive off on the back straight... LOL

PS - Gees Liz hope the car is back on track for next time.... just wasnt your w.end dude! ;)

What a great day. Nice to meet a lot of new faces. LadyBytes your GTR is one of the neatest Ive seen in a long time :-)

I was supprised to see so many skylines at the track there was good mix of cars. My favorite for the day was my mates GT40 Replica. 15 years in the build and he drives it like a rental!!

It was my first track day in my new R32GTR. Run a best of 1.10.7 with a basically stock car (has exhuast Mines ecu buddyclub coil overs and some near worn out semi slicks)

What an awesome car to drive so easy compared to my old car. I have changed from a Datsun 1200 coupe with 230rwkw ca18 that was pretty well setup.

Anyway I hope to see you all again on a trackday soon.

Cheers Andrew (another AndrewLOL)

PS: I have for sale on ebay the rims and semi slicks I had on the day.If anybody is interested.

POST THE VID!!!!

:spank: that was close! glad you survived it ok!

Yeah it was one of those "oooohhh SH*T!!!" kind of moments... Although interestingly I noticed I didnt say a word on the video :(

Jon,

congrats on the new PB also :D

And VERY lucky with that vid mate!!

Thanks mate - I'm glad I was actually faster with the semi slicks. I was having nightmares about getting out there on the semis and putting down a retarded time.. lol

what a day huh! lol

OMG jon, what a close call!!!! I'm soooooooo sorry about dumping the fluid on the track I'm sooooooo glad you and Brendan managed to escape it! Did another car come off behind you guys?? I heard tyres. Judging by that video, it looks like I was dropping coolant before the bang.

bunts....my radiator pretty much exploded. But given the massive bang involved, I managed to pull off the track pretty quickly (but not quick enough sorry Jon!) and baby it in to pits (4wd style! lol).

Haha dont sweat it Liz, I was more worried about your car when I heard that it was yours dropped the fluid!! I just hope everything is ok after driving it back to the pits!

Aww thank you Andrew *proud look* all this time I just thought I was being totally biased LOL I had quite a few people ask me on Saturday if I wanted to sell it and I've only had it for about 6-8 weeks... it was a great boost to my confidence in buying the right car (not to mention my ego) LOL

haha we watched it a few times and commented on the fact you didn't say something like WTF!! Probably too busy pulling your heart back out of your throat.

It was my first time on this track with the GTR. I was running street tyres and pulled 1.15's. Definitely not getting the same grip as I can get with the GTS-T using Federal 595RS's, you really feel them bite in and grab, but very happy with the GTR handling. I need more practice out there though and can't wait until I wear out my Falkens so I can put some 595RS's on it.

Hi William - you were going hard out there... I have some great video footage (Scott using my vidcam) of you really giving it some at turn one. Looks like you had a lot of fun and know your car well. We all thought your lines were pretty good as we watched the vid Sat night. I'll have to get a copy to you, you will love it.

You should look at coming down for some of the 'Speed off the street" days at Wakie for $100 a day.

guys had a ball out there....finally got out on a track. Managed a 1.16 which im happy with.....there is soooo much room for improvement...

that was a crazy moment when i spun and then saw 2 skylines spin, Jon was close but i wasnt as worried as when i saw the gtr heading straight at me.....lucky the guy was quick thinking enough to stop sliding and turn the other way...

other then that it was great throwing the car around...

found my new love...

Which GTR?

ooh. 1 100th of a second between Liz and Corrine. Chick battle is hotting up.

lol.. I only went out for 1 timed session. So that might not have been me. I was out on the passenger session (no timing) and the session after the passenger session. which was session 4 I think?

well i did notice you seemed to get a lot faster in one session. :D

way to take away my fun.

Haha sorry. Would have been nice to have that girl vs girl competition but I will let Liz have her glory.

    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
    • I don't get in here much anymore but I can help you with this.   The hole is a vent (air relief) for the brake proportioning valve, which is built into the master cylinder.    The bad news is that if brake fluid is leaking from that hole then it's getting past the proportioning valve seals.   The really bad news is that no spare parts are available for the proportioning valve either from Nissan or after market.     It's a bit of a PITA getting the proportioning valve out of the master cylinder body anyway but, fortunately, leaks from that area are rare in my experience. BTW, if those are copper (as such) brake lines you should get rid of them.    Bundy (steel) tube is a far better choice (and legal  in Australia - if that's where you are).
