As for those who reckon a MRS or MX5 is a hairdressers car, you either have never driven one or you don't know how to drive thus can not appreciate the great handling balance these cars can offer.

I've driven one. Slow but handled well.

Its still a hairdressers car. :glare:

With regards to the question.

The GTR is great; lots of grip and is very quick with lots of power. BUT would that not get boaring?

A GTT punching out a reasonable amount of power has less grip and would require a lot of work, thinking and driving to make the setup quick. But would that get a little tiring?

I think I'd almost rather the challenge of getting the car setup better, improving my skills etc.

If I were to push 400rwkw odd I think yes.. I probably would look at the GTR as 400rwkw through the GTST become a little frustrating as it attempts to wag its tail at 160km/h+ in a straight line.

IF I were to push any more than 300rwkw I would most definitely look at dropping the 3ltr in to it. The smaller motors simply lack the spool capability for the big turbo's; as a result become very peak and lack that mid range fun that makes a car feel quick.

Who wants a car that doesn't get up and go until 3rd+ gear? Not me.

After all its all about the driving experience right?

:glare: Yep, that's what it's about.

Really, it comes down to the application the car is being put to. If you have a bent for circuit work, drags, sporting road driving, hill climb, or motorkhana, there is a difference of priorities.

The relative lack of power in those naturally aspirated rear engined hairdressers cars, combined with the sort of grip and chassis balance they offer is what can make them shine in certain situations. But for most use, the 2wd Skyline has a certain appeal and suits my purposes. Given more $$ available, I'd probably have more than one car in the shed.

Haha...I so agree. I sold my 33 gtst for a mr-s 2 years ago and the car sucks balls. Totally slow ass...and not true that it does not break down. i found my r33 less rattly than the mr-s. not to mention you can only take one passenger. May as well a motor bike.

But mr-s is a pretty car though...just like hairdressers

Too pretty that I had to get rid of it....glad I did

None the least, GTR 34 is still the way to go. Gtt is always gtt even with 1000hp. But then again, if you had the money for a gtr 34. Why not go for a evo 7 8 or 9. So much newer and cheaper for a awd turbo beast.

What do you guys think.

RAWR!!! omg this is a SKYLINE forum... not little 4 cyclinder evo chit chat forum lol!!! Evo is just a lancer wif a turbo/d engine lol rebadge crap...

:woot:

GTR FTW

do you know anything?

the only thing the evo lancer shares with the lancer is the name and the emblem on the dash

oviously apperance doesnt mean anyfing?? LAWL its not like u can dress a car to look like a skyline

i seen $9k lancers that are wanna be EVO's

man lancers are lancers = 4 cylinders are WEAK, nothing @ the top

just like the WRX

all they got good going for em is there CHEAP new/er 4x4 turbo family car LOL :laughing-smiley-014:

once again , i ask you, do you have a clue?

not one person here has said to dress up an evo like a skyline so im not sure what your angle is

a 9k lancer is basically a lancer with a body kit

i think its missing the 4wd drivetrain, the brembo brakes, the interior, the chassis differences, engine differences, turbocharged and computer / mivec differences

saying lancers are 4cyl weak is fine if thats what you believe, but check out the world rally classes, its locked to 2 litre which is where the evo and wrx come in

so WEAK means nothing, other than you looking like a fool, go tell the ralliart team the torque they make at 2000rpm is WEAK, it will beat more than your skyline makes

nothing @ top is all dependant on what you want to do and how much power you want, is 800hp enough?

dude if u think the gtr is easy to drive around think again.. loads of grip??? yer when ur going straight.. dont forget the fronts only work when the rears give up and u have the steering wheel resonably straight..

if it kicks out wildly, the fronts wont be comin on very strong at all... b4 my recent buy into the GTR world.. i owned a 350rwkw+ rx7 s5... it was lightning fast and had brakes to match, not to mention its ability to take any corner on, but when ur comin around a bend and the rear end steps out.. nothing is scarier than the GTR... its chassis is so unpredictable.. 1 mistake and ull kill urself because of it.

Sliding/driftin is alot of fun.. but not when uve got torque steer @ the same time that ur tryin to correct it.. its pretty fkn wild... trust me. ive owned quite a few faster cars than my GTR, but non r as wild

mate.. ur fk'd aye!

go and buy a evo.. and fkn join a lancer forum FFS

>< OMG and noooo what point are u trying to prove

lawl yaya wow they got name brand parts :woot: there still a CHEAP car... and say wat u want they look like the other lancers rolling around...

lancers are girls cars

dispite the branded badge gear it beholds

>< since when has the $30-40k lancer wait 'EVO haha' been a RALLY car? dnt tell me them adverts actually make u think ur getting a RACE CAR

:laughing-smiley-014:

enuff said

omg SIGH!!!

well i aint here to argue wif ppl lol bout personal opinions haha

LAWL gd luck with ya evo's n that

P.S

join this forum ... we got some fan boys here :laughing-smiley-014:

u do realise that the evo gets from 0-100 about 2 seconds faster than ur shitbox right???

and im also sure that u know, it'll take the 1/4mile down in low 13's???

can ur shitbox lift the back wheel, WHILE ur braking AND turning at the same time??? no??

wait.. maybe ur shitbox has 4k worth of brakes?? oh wait.. its a gtst.. ur brakes r worth 400...

what about ur chassis?? wins races??? oh i guess not... maybe ur car was worth 80k brand new?? wrong again.. lol

does ur car even have a name for itself apart from modernised Gemini?? no.. it doesnt. get a real car champ and stop playin with lil toys

gee put us rb25 owners down why dont ya :woot:

meh...as long as it drifts its all good

evo 7 you could get for 30k reasonably

evo 8's are around 40k for a reasonale model

evo 7 - 33k

evo 7 - 27k

http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/index.php?ID=11026

im still not sure on your angle. yes we all agree its a skyline forum but your acting like a knob, if you dont like the car then thats ok, you dont have to

but going on that its a wog car or a little kids car makes no sense. yeah cos no skyline owners fit atmo bovs and bling bling wanker rims

the purpose of the evo lancer, much like the wrx is a homogonated (spelling?) model so they can complete in rally competition

the rules of rally state you must run a production class car and it must be a 2 litre

so you build a rally car, make some changes to suit street spec and sell it. this allows you to run in rally class and make a few bucks to cover the R&D

this is what subaru have done with the wrx (world rally experiment) and the evolution lancer, they both exist for rally purposes

I'm with Paul.

I really didn't think much of the EVO lancers until I met Jack monkhouse out cruising around one night.

He has a new blue evo that sounds absolutely tough as; it has HEAPS of low mid range and not the typical fart 4 banger note; the note was very pleasant to hear. It was apparently making around 200awkw.

Hearing that thing cruise around with how much low/mid range it had impressed the hell out of me. A very flexible package.

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
