I was watching this car shop this evening and they said the GTR is the 9th best sportscar of all time.

That is some big SH.T.

No other car from Japan was on the list.

I saw this on the Discovery Channel.

Just a little FYI.

nsx was a great car but was always regarded as under-powered, thats why the new v10 model i think coming out next year is going to be awesome, they having 2 models a v6 and the v10 mmmm should be nice looks hot to.

Ps i work at a Honda NSX dealer (only 1 in melb and i think only another 3 or 4 in the country) so when it comes out we'll have a couple on the yard mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm cant wait

togue isn't exactly the best measure of a good car, nor is an american tuned R34... I've got more fingers than they have R34 GTR's :)

Most car shows talk about stock for stock based on performance, looks, power, and circuit times when it comes to sports cars.

true, but i just thought i'd throw it in :D

gtr is considered to be the truest japanese supercar....i.e the only japanese supercar.

Its built off a passenger car. How can it be a "supercar", which should have a bespoke platform?

The only true supercar made by a big Japanese car manufacturer is the NSX.

I thought the r32 was built from the ground up , i think the r33 was based off some passenger car (might be wrong)

I think its cos people consider it to be up there with the likes of porsche and ferrari (355) or something - i forget......however i dont know how true that is, but thats just what i heard.

The show was called "The Greatest Ever - Top 10 Sports cars".

Anyone else notice they showed a R33 GTS-T and kept referring to AWD and the R34 LCD display?

Very confusing and annoying.

Mclaren should have been no.1 in my books.

R32 GTR came out a few months after the R32 GTS coupes and sedans. All skylines, regardless of generation are based on a passenger car platform. The first skyline ever made was made as a 4 door passenger car. It just *happened* to win a couple of races so they decided to make a coupe in the next model that was developed.

To classify as a supercar it has to be a bespoke platform... ie designed from the ground up with only one purpose... to be a supercar, it can't have family car variants etc, which is why an evo, skyline etc aren't supercars. This is why the Z platform is considered the "true" sports car in the Nissan family, whereas the skylines are considered sports sedans... When a true supercar is made, you get to customise everything from the trim of your choice and colour (not just pick one from a bunch that the factory offers) to number of gears and gearing, seat shape etc. Basically handmade for custom one off order.

The closest things to japanese supercars are NSX's, GTO's and 300ZX's (all 3 of which were coincidentally sold worldwide, including australia and america).

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
