Sau Vs Wrx Nulon Drag Day @ Heathcote, Rd 2 - Wrap Up And Results

Recommended Posts

Was a pretty good day, my first time ever doing 1/4 mile drags! Definitely not as simple as it looks to go quick. Felt a bit uneasy ripping my semi slicks to pieces with the burnouts but oh well. I think the mph was a little off :) Well done to everyone, it's a shame there were not more cars running. Favourite car was the Buzz rotary weapon. The creatd r33 gtr was flying, 10.5 is quick in anyone's language. Anyways, I had a ball until I ran out of fuel :D Now time to get back into the circuit action at Calder next Sunday :(

Was a great day.

By the way - there were a few members who didnt get their times to be yesterday. If you are one of them, please make sure you PM me before 6pm Monday (8th). Any times submitted after this time will not be included.

Trophy and prize presentations will take place at our General Meeting on Tuesday 16 Octoebr at Bells Hotel.

Hope to see you all there,

B

Thanks Matt, had a good run with you in the GT-R on one pass.

I had a pretty good day, the drag radials didn't go as well as I'd hoped on the GT-R, but I'm getting semis fitted to it all round next week so that should help, ended up doing a 12.2 in it.

Had a ball in the Datto, it went 11.6 (about 0.15 off its best, the 60-foot times were way off), enjoyed doing a bit of opposite lock off the line on a few passes.

Also took the opportunity while it was quiet to teach my girlfriend how to race, shes only driven the car a couple of times before on the street but still managed a 13.3/108mph and beating one of the lancers in the process, just got to get her to launch right now :(

Thanks to those who organised it, was a good day.

And to the idiot in the WRX that cut me off on the highway on the way up there, did it help you get there 5 seconds quicker?

smaller turn out than june but still great day.. we left at lunch time as some friends had to get back to melb..

was my second time on the strip and managed to break into 12's with 12.69 with average 60foot so i reckon there is more in the car..

thanks to organisers, Bec i will pm you my time..

thanks also to Al and Paul for advice, Thebuzz Ben for letting us have a look and chat about the datto..

cant wait till next one :(

hehe was an awesome day today great weather and even greater group of guys ...

I honestly thought i was going to have massive trouble breaking a 13 second pass .. tho during the day i ran a number of times in the 12.5 bracket ending up the day with a best of a 12.56 ...

Im stokd my dodgy street tires held up for the job

Thanx too all the organizers in this club and WRX ... Tops

Tony ...

No worries mate anytime, thanks for the interest in the car.

Had an awesome day, not as quick as I had expected considering the mods done since June but nevertheless, enjoyed seeing some very quick times laid down by several cars and bikes.

thebuzz - I am glad it wasnt me your g/f beat! I tried to choose my oposition carefully and limit it to rex's!

Was also a much quicker field than June this time. I managed a 13.74 which was better than my 13.86 of last time. Was hoping for low 13's but didnt happen. I can feel the time it takes between gear changes which is too long and where I am losing most of my capable time.

Great to see everyone again and well done to the organisers, thanks :(

LOL

I was at the Wine and Food Fest. at Heathcote on Sat..didnt know this was on...I thought I saw Adam's black R34 go past me when i turned off to go back to dalesford...would have been a good day for the drags...bit warmer.

Sorry I could not make it, - wanted to run the 55AMG to see if it is quicker than the GTS4! :)

maybe next time....

It was surprising not to see more cars there. It was good to c Matt improve his time by over a sec in 1 outing.(12.77) Sorry for making u rip up the semi-slicks buddy. Pete (Silver R32GTR) went PB @ 12flat on Street tyres, which was fantastic, It will be good when he gets the semi-slicks on it. Poor Harry (R34JET) did a head gasket and Raditor but shows promise with 118mph. Hopefully next time there will be more cars and I might have my animal ready..

Thanks Justin, I wouldn't have improved my time without your tips/advice on the day! Was good fun. Shame about Harry's car, time to upgrade those cooling mods! Tuff gate too  Hope to see him on the track again soon. Pete's R32 was very nice, looks hot.. and quick as well! Looking forward to seeing your GTR finished :P

Hi guys

Im Pete, Silver GTR owner. I ran a PB of 12.003sec on the day. Setup includes: 14 psi, 18x9 street tyres, approx 234 kw atw. Next stage power mods should see 330-350kw. With this power and semi slicks hopefully I can get low 11's next time. Anyone posted a good time with similar power? Best 60ft was 1.71sec, what should I expect on semi slicks??

Was a fun day, thank you to the event organisers!!

Matt hope to see you at the next track day. My car is almost ready, just need some decent semi slicks.

Cheers

Hey Ben. Just wondering how much power the GTR is pumping out at the wheels?

Cheers

Pete

    • Nah that is not actually a lot. Just painting my GTR frontend and the little bits to make sideskirts/nismo flare pieces work correctly/fit on the sedan/mount up correctly came to about $7000. Is it a lot? Sure. None of this is economical. Economy would be shelling the car and buying a 2010 Corolla to commute in. The perspective of all of this is different.
    • I have the re003s’ on my 06 XT Forester Turbo and I highly rate them for street wet and dry
    • I don't see any issues here. I've been saying all along this is a big job, the price reflects that.  When the car comes back perfect I'm sure it will feel like money well spent.
    • Remember, take original quote. Double it. Then add a bit more. It's how any project goes.
    • So, I started this repair and got as far as "fixing" the holes with some fibreglass. God all those years working on boats came back quickly. I decided I'd reach out to some rust guys just to see what they would say about it. I came across a guy about 40 mins away and went to see him. He said the windscreen needs to come out, that there might be some more bits around the windscreen and he'd quote them at the time. But his quote was $300 to remove and replace windscreen and $3k for the damage he can see. He said he could respray the roof for $1200 and the bonnet for another $800 (somebody has previously rattle canned it, its horrendous). This is $5300 + any small additional bits. It's a lot, I get that and the name of one of my fave youtube channels 'Not Economically Viable' comes to mind.  I'm not being financially rational, but I've taken him up on the quote. He's opening a new shop in November with more room, so we're waiting for that. I'll leave the currently missing headliner out until then. I'm looking forward to it being fixed and having the paint looking nice again (lots of clear coat issues on the roof too). / flame suit on.
