slide can't do much more (under the current circumstances) than ask you to send it to Murnane to be repaired. i don't know what difference it makes whether you know them or not this is their attempt to meet their warranty obligations.

if you send it anywhere else it is your choice and your cost.

i would send it to Murnane and discuss GCG findings with them and let them fix it.

+1 to all the above

Mate you have a sliding performance hiflow turbo, under warranty. The only course for your action is to send the turbo to the warranty workshop. Seeing you sent it to GCG (they didnt make it & dont warrant it, obviosuly) who are competitors to the turbo manufacturer; that is at your cost. Without doubt. However, now that you have a list of defects from GCG, again follow the above advice and provide a copy of the defects along with the defective turbo charger, for a replacement item under warranty.

simple really - you just have to make the 1st step by contacting the turbo manufacturing workshop. News to me that they wernt made inhouse. hhmmm. Brings a 3rd party into it and thats a pity, but they made the turbo and they warrent it, so you have to contact them and proceed further down that road. Call the manufacturer and discuss it............

good luck dude

Ive got one of these turbos and I like it

all I want is 2-3 yrs from it and then Id consider it "cost effective" ownership, due to the original 'cheap' price

1. Why is this in FI?

2. SECURITY - For someone who until today, was promoting Sliding Performance in their sig, you sure are quick to turn sides...people are so fickle these days....

3. What is it with everyone getting all litigious these days. FFS, this isn't the U.S (thank fark). Talking it out usually results in a better outcome for everyone.

4. I'm willing to bet if you (SECURITY) hadn't started this thread that Sliding Performane would have been happy to honour your warranty (I suspect they still will if you go about things in a reasonable fashion).

Not having a go or taking sides.....just a commentary.

1. where did you expect it to go? the wastelands?

2. ive got nothing against sliding performance but they pretty much screwed me by telling me to take it to GCG, then telling me my warranty is void by them opening it. its a direct contradiction of what i was advised to do and now im out around $1500 because of this.

3. ive tried talking it out. instead i was dicked around and was given contradicting advice.

4. this started by them telling me that they werent going to pay for GCG's fees and postage as a part of their warranty. i dont want the damn turbo anymore, the problems ive had with it have made me decide to sell my car once this is all dealt with.

well I would like to put in a good word for dynatorque in Arndell park in Sydney. The HKS turbo on my R32 GTS4 stated to develop that nasty smoke cloud at idle and the bearings screamed on rapid spool up. For a very good price they fully rebuilt it, and I also stuck a new dump pipe on also. Car drove like an absolute dream afterwards and even spooled up more rapidly. Just that sweet turbo whistle on high boost... No dreaded sounds...Very soon when I buy my GTR,if turbos need servicing I will be contacting them. They dont charge the earth like some shops do and unlike the myth that most people believe my turbo was roller bearing and they rebuild those no problems

Yeah look this should be sorted as Joe has said

1. He was unaware Murnane makes these turbo's thought Aaron did.

2. Aaron said send to GCG

3. Joe sent to GCG thinking this was all part of the warranty offered by Aaron (as in point 1. he didn't know they were made elsewhere)

4. All of a sudden finds out the existance of Murnane, then told they offer the warranty not Aaron, warranty void due to GCG touching it.

5. Should have been clearly stated that all repairs went through Murnane, not a local dealer for convenience...cause a void warranty isn't bloody convenient (maybe for Aaron it is)

6. It's not fair in my eyes, full refund for witholding the truth to Joe and putting him through this shit

thats exactly how it is.

all i want is a working turbo, if not, i just want my money back in full. ill be ringing the department of fair trading on monday to see what legal leg i have to stand on.

i've got a few guys helping me with this case, and a helpful SAU'er trying to find precedent for when i apply to sue.

i'll pick up my turbo and report from GCG on monday or tuesday.

ive got 2 law classes on monday night so ill be asking both of my lecturers for a push in the right direction.

and just a bit more information for everyone:

i ended up blocking off my bov return pipe and made the breather hose vent through an atmo catch can and i was still getting oil through my cooler piping. i'll be getting my mechanic to write me a report also.

another issue is that i paid Aaron Peters the entire sum (as requested in all of his threads at the time) into his personal account with the description as hiflow turbo. i've got all records of him asking for me to deposit the money for the turbo into this account too.

is that good enough for a receipt? should i contact the ATO to back up my claims in court about the dodgy way of evading tax (to strengthen my case in court)?

i'd be pissed off too. when you look at it realistically, you dont buy a slide oil cooled bush bearing turbo for it to cost you the equivalent of a HKS turbo in repairs, shipping, labour, and the general stuff around.

seems to me you got shafted here. not taking sides. in fact i hate joe ;)

have you asked for a full refund?

i have, but your mum wont give me my money back either

but yeah, i have. my problem is that the refund is coming from murnane motors, not slide. and with the turbo now in pieces my warranty is void as slide has told me.

another thing - i bought the turbo before aaron lost his workshop. all warranty work wasnt sent through murnane then, it was sent to him. i didnt get a warranty document stating what the terms and conditions were.

and they werent in his trader section either.

this thread has run it's course mate. you have chosen to commence legal action. so I don't really see any productive advise coming out of this thread. more of peoples opinions, and taking legal advice from an internet forum is not a very good idea. then you may have to sue a poster for giving you bad advice. don't want that. then Slide may sue us for allowing this thread to continue. don't want that either. I would suggest that since you are about to commence legal proceedings against Slide that it is a bad idea to be airing all your business on a public forum. He's offered you a solution, you have said that to you it's not satisfactory so do whatever you think is right, but there is no need to drag it up here.

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
