im kinda upset the US will be getting this GTR, i always thought the older ones were exclusive.

yeah, that annoys me as well. ah well, at least we'll be able to get ALL models, whereas they have only really got the R35 :domokun:

Australia charge a shitload on import tax eh. we get ripped big time. Australia charge so much so as to protect the local industry.

Import duty is not the problem mate as it is only 10% now and it will go to 5% sometime in future, just like it is on 4WDS and commercials. Luxury tax is the one as it is 25% and that is levied an all cars regardless if they are made here or O/S .

i got bored.

and i figured the answer was somewhat self explanitory anyways.

its all about economy, marketability, and tax.

the us, europe, etc, will have a larger potential market for the new gtr,

australia has a smaller market.

australia has massive amounts of tax, on top of tax, on top of tax.

america and europe, dont.

simple really.

higher priced here due to the buyers they will attract ?

not to mention the governing body wants the general populace to drive the slowest vehicles possible reducing road fatalities etc ?

f**k i hope the gtr doesnt turn into an overhyped import like the old ones.

they are amazing cars but most people i know when i tell them i have a skyline think it is some godly car that can get 1000 hp with a new comp

regardless though i cant wait to see them in canada?

""""""Transmission is 2 Pedal Twin Clutch MT -->7<-- Speed. All models include base model will have Paddle Shift, No 6 speed manual!

Nissan Japan is developing 6MT but for only the Race version in the N1 Japanaese Super Endurance league."""""""

I wouldn't take that guys word for it. He's just made a random website of rumors and innuendo and stated it as fact so I'd probably ignore it and wait until Nissan say something official.

yeah i didnt believe it for a second but what an idiot to post something like that!!!

Has any price Been stated yet or a RRP Yet?? Buy the time it gets here in Aus it will be Old News in Japan so why not bring the price down a bit!!

Repost:

Yep the GT-R cud be priced around AUD150k ovr at your end and here in Spore its gonna cost at least SIN$288K but then its already on the road here:

http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/Asian_Make...%21%21_P2166566

Dont know the number allocated for Spore but one importer have at least 16units on order and delivery slated for Jan '08.

Even with import duties LCT etc its still way above what it should be, i think nissan have missed the boat and its not going to be as popular as they think it should have been done for under 100k. Prob also the fact that the 350z sits too close to it, another car which we pay too much for. Fark the local industries, they should build a product which doesnt need to be bolstered by the government. There is no real great trade in the car industries, people have ruined it.

guess all those people joining the back of a 2+ year waiting list for a new F430 or 599GTB must be really cheesed

what are Nissan supposed to do? make 50,000 of them with hand built engines in the first 3 months?

Not really Fussed how many they make! just a bit Disapointed how much it cost for a car 2 years old when it gets to Aus!!!

    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
    • I don't get in here much anymore but I can help you with this.   The hole is a vent (air relief) for the brake proportioning valve, which is built into the master cylinder.    The bad news is that if brake fluid is leaking from that hole then it's getting past the proportioning valve seals.   The really bad news is that no spare parts are available for the proportioning valve either from Nissan or after market.     It's a bit of a PITA getting the proportioning valve out of the master cylinder body anyway but, fortunately, leaks from that area are rare in my experience. BTW, if those are copper (as such) brake lines you should get rid of them.    Bundy (steel) tube is a far better choice (and legal  in Australia - if that's where you are).
    • EMU Classic. For what I need it to do I see no reason to upgrade. Link and Haltech would both cost an extra chunk of money for a lot of unutilized features
