umm the audi R8 outperforms the porsche 911 turbo, which is I guess the GT-R's goal to equal, so doesn't come as a surprise... its simply a different class (and price bracket) to a GT-R. plus at the end of the day it was the fact that the Audi allows the driver to interact better with the road and conditions than the GT-R ("makes you feel like it could go faster if it didn't have you")... which a lot of guys on here and potential buyers have been saying... too much computer, not enough stick.

Well theres a video of Jeremy Clarkson testing the GT3 and the R8... and if the turbo outperforms the GT3, and the GT3 out runs the R8, I dont see how the R8 can be in a different class than the R35 GTR...

ummm... the reviews Ive seen comparing the R8 and Porsche TT, have shown that the porsche is quicker in a straight line and around a track. The crap about that it interacts better, is just the magazines way of not upsetting audi. The GTR was quicker in every respect, handled better in every situation, had a far superior gearbox, was compared to a veyron, and was just as nice looking. Then in the last paragraph they go and say its Audi that communicates better. What a laugh.

they always say crap like that on top gear ^

very annoying, i agree

"this car is perfect in every way, but on the other hand, this old rusty bicycle over here reminds me of my mother's sunday dinners. therefore i pick the bicycle"

Exactly. I don't know about the comment on Audi politics but the GTR was noted to be faster than the R8 in every way as well as being built better.

You have to take the reviewer into account as he is the oddball in the equation here. He probably just isn't comfortable placing the European car behind a Japanese car.

Apparently some of the awards were as follows....

Fantasy Car of the Year...Ferrari 430 Scuderia

Sports Car of the Year...Audi R8

Supercar of the Year....Nissan GT-R and was described as follows:

'The GT-R is monstrously good. It locks on like a missile. Seriously, this thing hooks up and accelerates like a Bugatti Veyron. Its body control is breathtaking, too - you just know that this car has been meticulously engineered down to the last tiny grommet. I seriously doubt that there is a car on the planet that can corner faster or more aggressively than this.'

Not bad for a Datsun :rofl:

Having driven both 911 turbo and the r8, the turbo definitely feels quicker. Put your foot down and it hauls arse, about the only thing quicker i've driven is the 360 CS. I havent been able to find some decent roads for either though so punting them through a twisty section of road might show a weakness in the Porsche, though i doubt it. What boggles my mind is that the GTR is meant to be quicker than the 911 turb's, and that thing is insane!

    • Hi GTSBoy, Excuse my ignorance but what does a "Bad" Knee point mean ?
    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
