GTR = Stays true to its family genes

Supra = Has sold out cause it ain't good enough, is more German/Italian supercar than JAPANESE.

If Nissan stuck a V10 in the GTR, would anyone stand a chance?

but they didnt so who gives a shit?

sounds and looks f**king awesome, looks more like my kinda car :)

I doubt that this car can match the GTR's performance around the Ring. Reason is that being a v10, it lacks torque compared with turbo charged cars such as the 911 and GTR. And torque is more important in regards to fast lap times than horsepower. Thats why you don't see Ferrari's with fast times around the Ring. I doubt that the LF-A can even match the performance of the current F430 Scuderia - which is a stripped out F430. The LF-A looks more like a luxurious supercar than a stripped out racer, and Lexus is known as a luxury car manufacturer than a fully stripped out pure performance car. But hey, it's just all speculation at this time.

Yep this topic has run its course. If you want to discuss something that is not an R35 GT-R please do so in the General automotive forum.

Edit: On second thought I decided to re-open this as it's only a small minority not posting nicely. If that continues i will be removing their posts only.

if it indeed gets to $250K AUD, then you'll have to compare with a GTR V-Spec, and with the "standard" GTR doing 3.3sec 0-100km/hr and the V-Spec shedding 100kg's with a touch more ponies......... will be interesting... :P

To me the 7:28 ring time was just to stir the pot a bit. Prob a prototype, slicks, and full stripped interior, just maybe a shakedown to see what the potential was. Whereas Nissan had video-taped their run, all we have heard is like 6th hand information about the 7.28 time.... who exactly was the first person to get that out? Was it Lexus like Nissan did? or just some net rumour that found a hungry audience?

wow good point about the vspec, i wonder if it could crack into the 2's for 0-100 :D considering that the time of 3.3 was recorded by edmunds on a dirty surface that they claim did not have alot of traction.

Umm no its not the new version of the supra at all.... same as how lexus is200, ls400 etc arent toyota soarers/celsiors etc....

Pretty black and white (in colour)

Looks pretty supra-esque to me. the roofline, the rear, the intakes on the sides, the long front overhang compared to the short tail....

Big fan. Toyota have made 4cyl, 6cyl, 8cyl, its a logical step for them to step up to a 10 at some stage. I give it 2012 til someone puts one in a hilux.

As for it vs the R35 - i say different horses for courses? Theyll each have their preffered applications.

EDIT - watched the last vid - it says its expected 2009, with a price tag of 15,000,000y. That converts to (today) $165,000. I wonder what we WILL end up getting it for? Thats cheaper than i expected.

having owned a supra and having a ls400 as a cruiser i would have to say that i would join the toyota regiment here

the gtr is nice but it looks too much like a 350z where this lexus supra hybrid thing is f**ken awesome and looks tuff

gtr has too much girth imo

oh and v10 ftw
