Hey guys;

I've been toying with the idea of a Stagea as a family car for a long while.

Recently, have noticed that M35s have suddenly become very reaonably priced -

2002 M35 Stagea $19750

2002 M35 Stagea with Leather and TV/DVD $22000

There are still many Series II Stags selling well in excess of these 2 low km examples.

Any thoughts as to why these M35s are so cheaply priced?

coz they are as ugly as a thalidomide baby?

just sayin.

Hey.......the eye of the beholder :)

If I can refer to a previous girlfriend, she performed really well and had great mods, was fun and looked good.

Then I was required to get a new girlfriend newer shape with average mods, but was far better to drive all the time.....and looked different to the other one.....

Once again eye of the beholder........

I wish I had the answer to that question, very good value buying though I'd say.

Probably somewhere between: where they should be priced, real costs from purchase in Japan to being on the road here - and the fact that "literally" no one knows what they are still.

The price probably won't go back up though sadly...

They are now 6 years old and hard to get registered in Japan. Past experience shows that as soon as any car gets more than 5 years old the prices drop as more and more become available.

Cheers

Gary

Yup....

1. Although advertised as an AR-X they are not

2. The silver one is a sports pack (Still good value)...looks to be an RS but without the gauges

3. The white one is a poverty pack with options. TV(Needs to be converted to PAL)/DVD Navigator(Doesn't work outside japan....also it does not mean that it play's DVD's as it is a DVD Navigator not player) (Still good value)....looks to be an RX

4. Headlights are illegal(not that thats a bad thing)

5. Dual Climate control....check it first!!!

6. Fuel prices(If you care about those thing's)

Hey Dale, at last something we can agree on!! :(

Also... my opinion.....

These are very average cars in Japan.... and therefore because most people want something a little different, the prices are lower. There are lots of them at the Auctions.

It really comes down to supply & demand.

And they are FUGLY....

(apologies to all current owners.... haha)

Oh and most S2's have also fallen drastically....... :)

I spend more on tyres than I do on petrol. :(

Rego and insurance costs more than petrol. :)

Depreciation makes petrol look cheap. :)

    • Bit difficult to follow. Have a look below and see what the standard R32 layout was like. Note there was a restrictor in place immediately before "turbocharged pressure control solenoid" that, if removed, magically got you 1 bar boost.
    • I might be way off the mark here.. there must be a T junction under the manifold. That takes manifold pressure through a check valve prior to the T, one side splits out to this bleed off orifice, the other straight to the wastegate actuators.
    • Carrying out some engine due diligence before my first drive in a 260RS that has been in storage for 10+ years, and found two lines that are susposed to be plumbed into the boost control solenoid. One of the lines (the wastegate boost supply line) to actuate the gates, had a bolt in one end blocking it. The other line (main boost signal line) from the very rear of the intake manifold (RB26DETT) and runs up to the boost controller had this pill in the end of it as seen in photos. Other than the obvious (T28 Ceramic turbos might well be cooked)  Can anyone shed any light on if there is any validity at all with this mod, bleeding a constant fixed rate of manifold boost pressure off through this 3mm hole?  Is it deliberate?  Was this a 90s Jap mod done to RB26's? Or has someone just fitted this without any idea of what happens to ceramic T28s if they are not gate controlled?
    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
