What Battery?

My battery died on me last night, so today I been looking around for a replacement. I've looked everywhere like SuperCheapAuto, Autobarn and all those other places, but none of them can provide me with one that fits properly without any major adjustments.

So I'm just wondering if any of you guys could tell me what brand/model of battery you've got and where you bought it from and for how much.

when mine died i got marshalls to come out and install one that was suitable

they plonked in a premium high rated CCA battery and installed, tested, certified with warranty etc

was about $180 all up fitted, installed etc, they come to you and do the work

i also had a sway bar in the way so i had no motivation to do it myself

Hmm thats strange as I had a std sized century battery in both my gtst and GTR (both 33's). The only thing that didn't fit with them was that plastic tray.

If you want a sealed smallish battery that is a similar size to the original check out the Odyssey range....just be prepared for the $$$.

depends, if u running a big stereo you want a bigger battery, dry cell preferably, if its just standardish stereo get a battery with about 400cca. i got a dry cell in mine with 670cca.

go to battery world, get them to install a decent size yuasa or something similiar in quality..

i had mine done there 5 years ago for $135 installed..

Ive got quite a large stereo system in mine, so im using the Optima Yellow Top D34, 750CCA. It was quite costly ($370 from memory), but from what the people at Battery World had to say, aswell as a few of my friends running them in their cars, neither of us have had any problems. All you have to do is remove the plastic tray and get a new mounting bracket. Its a dry cell so no spilages or having to check fluid levels.

i went to many places, but still couldnt find a size that would fit without cutting the leads or the terminals.

so i guess ill need to get it installed by someone.

racv can supply you with a battery that fits perfectly. its about $130, they also provide 1 or 2 (i forget) warranty...

Its good.. last time my racv battery went flat cause i left lights on, i didnt mention that part to them on the phone but they came over and replaced it for free

If you're running some heavy electronic gear subs/amps etc.. I'd suggest a dry cell battery, the yellow tops.

I'll go out on a limb and say that I believe the expensive batteries are overated. I had a $250+ Optima in my gtr and within 6mths the battery was faulty (wasn't run flat, actually faulty) where as the only time a battery dies in my van is if I leave my lights on overnight etc.

NRMA will give private usage a 1-2yr warranty where as couriers and taxi drivers get 3 or 6mths warranty maximum because of how much strain we put on them constantly starting and stopping our engines over very short distances (ie; hardly any charging time between cranks).

A comparison on my vehicles:

GTR: Cost = $~250, start/stops approx 1,500x a year (4x a day) is lucky to last 2yrs on average.

= $0.08 per/crank

Van: Cost = $~120, start/stops approx 10,400x a year (40x a day) and I get 3yrs out of them.

= $0.003 per/crank (or about 26x more efficient)

The main reason for the price difference is size and weight more so than quality I believe.

Pulse battries are good and you can get them in small compact sizes i paid $170 at autobarn for the PHB400.

Just go buy a century ,yusa battery in the correct size. Reasonably priced and relilable.

as for oddesey don't waste your time unless its one of the large ones.

Whats a good battery which will cope with a future sound system (2 amp's etc) and fit in the r32 battery tray area? Im assuming ill also need my battery terminals changed?
