Was a SICK day & I really had a ball. Drove my Race GTR for the first time in 2 years & also took my

new R35 out for a few fun laps as well. Good to see the Skylines out numbering the Porsches & Ferraris!

Fun to see a $700,000 Ferrari doing off road work in the paddock as well!!!

Congrats on the laps times Martin - you really know how to boogie.....

Hey John,

What im curious about is which of the GTR's you had more fun in?? Hows the 33 go compared to the 35?

Nope, was a private track day. No spectators are really alowed at these days, as they don't want 1,000,000 people wandering around and getting in the way. You gotta know someone to be invited and go as their 'crew' :)

i was only invited because i complain a lot. :)

Like a little whiny bitch :)

And you got to sit in an R35GTR, then had the gall to complain you didn't get to actually drive in it .... pftt :P

haha yeah the roar of Munro's R33 was beyond belief down the pit straight wall .... but you gotta expect that fron straight pipes out of a 600+ rwkw beast :)

Despite my sore ears you couldn't wipe the smile off my fae :)

dont think ive ever heard anything so unapologetically loud before...

haha, same, was an awesome day.

Yeah the race GTR is LOUD. The R35 is QUIET. The amazing thing is that is is not much slower.

To answer the question.... on the track the Race car is raw & crazy. nearly 500kg lighter with the

holinger sequential box it is just awesome. Didnt get a lot of laps in due to brake fluid going off

but did pull a few low 17s just getting used to it & it has lots of potential. Cant wait for another go.

The R35 is just amazing. Had a roll on from 90kays with my street GTR behind & the midnight purple

R34 GTR with 480rwkw & he got 1 car length & I slowly pulled him in. Unbelievable. Was shocked.

They are freaks & I havent even touched it yet (go actuators/midpipe/COBB etc)

Does feel heavy on the track though, but did do a few 19s in it.

Keir was doing low 16s !!! in his R35. As I said they are freaks.

So race track - Go R33 (stay off pit wall if you value your eardrums)

Street/hills - Go R35

Making everyone deaf - Go my street R33 on wastegate

Nissans Rock.

hey munro

pls pm me your address so i can mug you for your cars :)

-D

so whats the end result with the 32 bro??? what broke???

so how is the paint on the lancer??? my mate rang me and said you got it done there. thought you would have sold it by now

Got the 32 back today. It was the clutch pedal box, one of the welds snapped off so everything has been strengthened. Price seemed a bit steep but i guess that's what you pay for repairs these days. Also now i got a crook old shaking with the wheel when i drive along. I think its time for a wheel alignment.

The lancers paint is awesome all i had done was a touch up from where a kid split the paint after hitting it. All good now. Havent really had the car out on the streets for anyone to have interest in it really.

Damn....... that's a hard spotting act to compete with!! :P Haven't even seen an R35 in the flesh yet - let alone race one at Mallala!!

Saw a damn nice black Stag at 12pm heading north on Brighton Rd in Glenelg today - custom plates - JBT (or something like that). Anyone's here? Looked tough as.

    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
    • See if you can thermal epoxy a heatsink or two onto it?
    • The other problem was one of those "oh shit we are going to die moments". Basically the high spec Q50s have a full electric steering rack, and the povo ones had a regular hydraulic rack with an electric pump.  So couple of laps into session 5 as I came into turn 2 (big run off now, happily), the dash turned into a christmas tree and the steering became super heavy and I went well off. I assumed it was a tyre failure so limped to the pits, but everything was OK. But....the master warning light was still on so I checked the DTCs and saw – C13E6 “Heat Protection”. Yes, that bloody steering rack computer sitting where the oil cooler should be has its own sensors and error logic, and decided I was using the steering wheel too much. I really appreciated the helpful information in the manual (my bold) POSSIBLE CAUSE • Continuing the overloading steering (Sports driving in the circuit etc,) “DATA MONITOR” >> “C/M TEMPERATURE”. The rise of steering force motor internal temperature caused the protection function to operate. This is not a system malfunction. INSPECTION END So, basically the electric motor in the steering rack got to 150c, and it decided to shut down without warning for my safety. Didn't feel safe. Short term I'll see if I can duct some air to that motor (the engine bay is sealed pretty tight). Long term, depending on how often this happens, I'll look into swapping the povo spec electric/hydraulic rack in. While the rack should be fine the power supply to the pump will be a pain and might be best to deal with it when I add a PDM.
    • And finally, 2 problems I really need to sort.  Firstly as Matt said the auto trans is not happy as it gets hot - I couldn't log the temps but the gauge showed 90o. On the first day I took it out back in Feb, because the coolant was getting hot I never got to any auto trans issues; but on this day by late session 3 and then really clearly in 4 and 5 as it got hotter it just would not shift up. You can hear the issue really clearly at 12:55 and 16:20 on the vid. So the good news is, literally this week Ecutek finally released tuning for the jatco 7 speed. I'll have a chat to Racebox and see what they can do electrically to keep it cooler and to get the gears, if anything. That will likely take some R&D and can only really happen on track as it never gets even warm with road use. I've also picked up some eye wateringly expensive Redline D6 ATF to try, it had the highest viscosity I could find at 100o so we will see if that helps (just waiting for some oil pan gaskets so I can change it properly). If neither of those work I need to remove the coolant/trans interwarmer and the radiator cooler and go to an external cooler....somewhere.....(goodbye washer reservoir?), and if that fails give up on this mad idea and wait for Nissan to release the manual 400R
