Hello all,

As I am now a proud new owner of a Nissan Stagea I have come to some questions about the car.

It is a 98 model RS S2

1. The factory key with central locking - does it also have a factory immobilizer with that??

- If i was to install a after market alarm will I be able to still use the key buttons or the new alarm remote??

2. I have the touch screen in the car... If I buy a DVD/DIVX player deck - will it still play the movies ok as the screen is NTSC??

- do any decks on the market that you can buy now have the ability or option to select between NTSC/PAL??

3. Are they tweeters on the A pillar where you can see the lines shaped to a circle??

4. Does anyone have a translation of all the Japanese writting/buttons on the touch screen correctly operate the CD player/AirCon??

I had more questions but i'll add them as I remember...

p.s. I will put up some pics once I take some nice ones soon!!

All of the questions you are asking have all been answered before, and most have whole threads dedicated to them

Now, get yo' ass into the chat thread (top sticky) and introduce yourself

1. You can get a cyclops UPGRADE alarm. (S485). Made by dynamco. THis gives you an alarm, 2 stage immob, glass breakage sensor, and yes you can use your factory key remote for all of it.

2. THere is a thread on this unit if you do a quick search.

3. If you just have lines, no. If you have little speaker grilles, yes there are tweeters. Factory option.

4. Beats me.

Welcome, Luke!

I know thats not ur name, but you have been christened.

I got Lil Bobby.

1. see above

2. no idea

3. yes there are tweeters on the a-pillar, well at least on mine.

4. not sure what u mean cos with mine (xanavi unit) the cd player and air/con are mostly in english. the things you need to know are:

top left button is cd player - i gather you've worked that out by now.

down further on the left near the bottom you'll see two buttons side by side. One is tv tuning and fairly useless in australia. The other one (i think its left?) is your display settings, you can change contrast and some other settings but i'm not sure of the specifics. The most used one for me was the bottom right button on the screen will switch the display off - very handy for driving at night.

For a/c the buttons on the right hand side should be self-explanatory. On the main air/con screen the only japanese is on the two big buttons at the bottom of the screen. the left one will show you the outside (ambient) temperature briefly - i've found it to be fairly accurate. the right one will manually change which vents are used - ie. if you want the air on your face only, face & feet, etc. etc. This automatically switches to manual mode, just the same as if you adjust the fan speed manually.

In general i just use the turny knob thing to adjust temperature and leave it on auto. I find the climate control works fairly well

Good luck with it.

...cause I'm feeling nice...

Actually I find my tweeters pretty good. They came with the machine.

Hello all,

As I am now a proud new owner of a Nissan Stagea I have come to some questions about the car.

nice car. sounds like it has the sat nav option.

1. The factory key with central locking - does it also have a factory immobilizer with that??

- If i was to install a after market alarm will I be able to still use the key buttons or the new alarm remote??

no. its keyless entry only UNLESS there is a red or blue chip in the base of the key- then you have the nissan immobiliser. (more common on 34 GTR than these.)

2. I have the touch screen in the car... If I buy a DVD/DIVX player deck - will it still play the movies ok as the screen is NTSC??

- do any decks on the market that you can buy now have the ability or option to select between NTSC/PAL??

buy one that has the option of NTSC output. from there you will have to defeat the lockout so it runs. I know of a couple of units that spit out NTSC.

3. Are they tweeters on the A pillar where you can see the lines shaped to a circle??

usually. sometimes it is simply the panel.

4. Does anyone have a translation of all the Japanese writting/buttons on the touch screen correctly operate the CD player/AirCon??

I do not.

I had more questions but i'll add them as I remember...

a small speaker that picks up the high frequency sounds, basically the opposite of a subwoofer. if you look at a 2 or 3 way speaker you have little speakers inside? they're basically tweeters but in a split system they're not installed in the woofer cone, they're a separate unit.

    • Hopefully it ends up being something manageable, like a hone, rather than a full bore—it would be a huge relief if it’s not as bad as it looks. Hang in there; these setbacks are annoying, but it sounds like you’re handling it as smartly as possible.
    • At the end of the day, it’s all about understanding the odds and being comfortable with the potential cost, whether it’s horsepower on a build or chips on a roulette table. And I have to say, the Laine example made me laugh—some people really do embrace that carefree, “roll and see” attitude!
    • Thanks MBS206, i got that PDF but got abit overhelm with all the connections and tracing of wires. I wasn't expecting to plug the dash harness anywhere. i was just going to use my electronics jumper wires to plug into the right pins like ECU power, ecu ground, ignition trigger etc... I do have a few ratchet straps locking it down tight. Fire extinguisher ready and only a small amount of fuel at a time, enough to submerge the pump.
    • Thanks GTSBoy, i will do abit more digging. I am missing a blue relay near the ECU connector... so i will chase that up in the next few days as well
    • https://yariksteel.ru/manual/R33/Skyline_R33_elektroprovodka.pdf   Page 18 should be what you want for the Dash Cluster wiring. Though, you don't need the dash plugged in to get the motor running. What you want is power as how GTSBoy said. You need to power the ECU. Find in the above link the ECU pin outs (Verify them before just connecting them up from things written on the internet). Find anything needing power, give it power, find anything needing ground, give it ground. Then give the starter motor power through a big cable, and bridge the solenoid on the starter straight to power too.  ECU will be on, and when you give the starter power, it'll spin the starter motor, and it should start. I also hope you have a proper stand, and not just the engine sitting on some wood. You will want it bolted down properly.
