Looks good!

I'd like to see how you plumbed up to the factory pump too, I'm collecting all the bits to put swirl pot and couple more 044's in at the moment, not sure whether to go for braid or the push-on hose that earls do!

dont use the push on hose for unleaded fuel.

both gates and speed flow say their hose is unsuitable so I would assume Earl's would be the same.

I think they all say that, same with the stainless braided, only one suitable is the teflon and unless I win the lottery I cant see that happening!

what should I use?

We can supply you earls teflon lines at a very reasonable price, email me for a quote.

180or200 - For ideas you might want to see how we connected up the factory lines and used the standard pump as a lift pump.

Dave - Curious as to why you kept the standard TB? I would have thought you would go have gone the Q45 for that power level. Also keen to see how the brakes hold up on a track day with the wastegate so close to the ABS unit.

your thread doesnt show the actual connecting to the plastic part of the tank though

Sweet engine bay Nytsky!

As quoted previously, turbo dump pipe should be as big as possible. Thats why you see see turbo drag cars just have enough piping to direct it away from where it might melt something and that is it. Bigger = better after the turbo. Obviously on a street car there are physical limitations that you have to work with.

The GT3076 has been pulled off and will be replaced with a GT3582.

The new turbo has the new .70 surge slotted comp cover and .82 housing in single entry.

T3 or T4??

I'm debating whether to go for the Twin Scroll GT3582R T3 0.78 or T3 0.82 or T4 1.06, arghhh the choices!!

Have been in an EVO running a twin scroll 1.06a/r GT3582R, the spool is seriously seriously impressive.... I have a .82a/r GT3076R and I'd honestly not expect to feel too much compromise going to a T4 GT35R.

  • 2 months later...

how is the car going with the new 3582, im just finishing up my 26/30 build with this turbo and would be interested to know if this turbo will give me 550hp at the wheels

oh and how much to get my comp cover slotted cos i would really like to have that 51r spool noise

It has been garaged since Powercruise.

Adding a few bits and pieces.

Unfortunately the noise from the 3582 is nothing like the 3076 i had, even with the surge slot cover. Makes me want a T51R KAI now

Thats interesting dave, i can play waltzing matilda on my surge ported 35/82. Wonder if the 30 bottom end makes a difference.

Hi Noel,

It does produce a noise, id say half as loud as the 3076.

Was nice to meet you at Superlap on the weekend :)

DOOOOHHHH! I never connected the dots. GRab me by the ear next time mate. would love to have a good yarn with ya.

    • I thought it could be an issue because the standard plate was flexing when stressed. Maybe the original gear set will hold a bit better without flex? Last time on the dyno it made around 670nm at the hubs. Now it have bigger turbo and better intake but have not been on a dyno yet. The car is being used from family trips to drag race events. So the shifts can be a little violent. It is grinding if I shift to fast so was thinking I should overhaul it soon.
    • From the factory on RB26s there's a fitting on the intake manifold collector/"plenum" that provides pre-throttle boost signal. That's how they did it back in the day, I figure it's fine to replicate it.
    • I would be surprised if that wasn't the issue. It's probably telling you, that even if you remove the plastic liner, you may have some other clearance issues that may occur too in some scenarios. IE, tyre to guard. It looks like someone has already rolled the lip, but you may still have issues in the future IE, turning and hitting a bump etc. The fact it changes how bad it makes the noise when you are going backward vs forward is highly indicative that it's the tyre rubbing. They do make a terrible sound, even if you're only pushing a project car that has a liner hanging down on a tyre!   Has the car been lowered? If it has been, what is the measurement from the centre of the wheel hub to the lip of the guard straight up?
    • Summernats cruiser?
    • Mark's a bit smarter than people give him credit... He'd convince the person that is to become dead, to drive him to the forest first. That way his car has no evidence in it, and he's free to dispose of their vehicle permanently how he sees fit too...
