Hey all,

I'm now posting the set times/dates for the GOR SAU cruise :D

Please advise in this thread if you will be coming ... so we can get an idea on numbers etc :)

Please advise also if your from geelong and if you will be meeting us at the Bunnings on the way through geelong.

--------- details ---------------->

Date: Sunday 10th August 2003

Meet time: 9:30am (melb)

Meet Place: shell/subway, on the exit ramp of Point Cook Rd (MEL:53, B3. The exit after Newland St)

Departure time: 10:00am (melb)

Destination: Apollo Bay (via GOR)

MAP :

map.jpg

--------- details ---------------->

Basically we'll be leaving melb at 10am and head towards geelong, meet any geelong SAU members at the Bunnings on the way into Geelong at approx 10:45 - 11am, this will also give ppl a chance to catch up and let us regroup.

We will then leave Geelong at 11:20am ish (once everyone has caught up) and cruise through geelong towards the GOR and onto Apollo Bay.

Once at Apollo Bay we'll group up and get some Fish n Chips YUMM :) hang around for however long wee feel like then head back as a group or at your own leisure :)

Ill have a stack of directions/exact street names, and where we will park at Apollo bay to hand out on the morning of the curise.. i'll make them up 2nite probably :)

Hope the regs and newbies can make it :) (me being a first time cruiser also lol hehe)

I'm in.

Tip for apollo bay parking.

Don't bother organising anything as there is no real 'good' spot.

And the ones you see on the map will prob be full !

Just let everyone do what we did last time and find the nearest free spots.

It's easier. Plus we can just work it out when we get there.

STILL unsure if i can make it.

But i know the area very well... go for photos at the harbour, also 'paradise' if you know where that is.

yeah 31 i was thinking maybe try and find good parking cause it would be more organised that way.. but from past experiences going there i think we might just all find free spots then meet on a lawned area somewhere :D

We will probabily have lunch when we arrive, then look for some photo spots, to take a few gruop snaps.

I'd love to join, haven't been on a cruise for quite some time.

Missed the MAS and meeting other SAU members there, lots of personal life issues as just ditched my gf that week.

If no other things came up on that sunday, might join you ppl. Hope it's not too big cruise as big ones always draw too much "unwanted attention" ;)

Hope the weather is good, so we'll get good view of the scenery...

Even if it is a BIG meet.

SAU does not attract unwanted attention unless you make it.

If there are idiots ripping patches then of course there will be attention.

But we've never to date (since i've been around) had police trouble on any sized meet.

So don't let that detter you

cheers,

ash

I guess so...

Previous HUGE cruise to Arthur's Seat drew quite a few attention from cops.. but I suppose that's more than just SAU members, as lots of cars were not even Skylines :-)

But I might go this time (80% sure) if not have to do something else on that Sunday.

    • This morning I carefully reinstalled the manifold and started looking at a couple of things I need to do.  Heat wrap arrived sometime today so I popped into the shed with the missus dishwashing gloves and started wrapping the first half of the dump and the screamer/plumb back.  Once I do the second half I'll be able to final fit the turbo and exhaust up.  Also pulled the harness out today and started terminating it at the ECU end. A connector is done, just need to run the remaining wires that arent in the harness - 12v, gnd and couple I/O
    • A31 is pretty much the same thing without HiAIDS I mean CAS, no improvement lol. Not to late to send it.
    • Thanks for all the replies! I also wanted to ask if wheels that were fitted on Ford Falcons would fit the 350GTs as well? In the area I'm at there aren't that many options for secondhand wheels and new ones here are way out of my budget. From what I've seen, most of the wheels that are available that were fitted on Ford Falcons have an offset of +33 to +36, with a centre bore of 70.5mm whereas the stock 350GT's ones are 66mm, can't seem to find any hubcentric rings that fit that difference though.
    • 215/45/18 tyres are probably a little on the low side compared to the factory tyre, it should be closer to a 245/45/19, which will get you about an extra 11mm of height, and should make you speedo read a bit closer to reality. 245/45/19s will be a bit too far the other way and you risk a speeding ticket as your speedo might read slower than your actual speed.  245/40/19s would be correct if you are going to 19in rims, they will give you a similar total diameter to the 245/45/18 tyres.
    • That's something I forgot to put in my list. The aggressive anti-squat in R32 is a f**king menace. I still need to decide if I'm going to drag the subframe out of my car and weld in the GKTech corrector kit. The main reason to dither is the need to switch to spherical joints in the lower arm to account for the twist induced in the rear pivot caused by lowering the front pivot. And yes...we do put better subframes in R32s, and I wish I'd gotten an S14 one instead of an A31 when I did the "take off and nuke it from orbit" HICAS delete all those years ago.
