Planning to take my car on a photo shoot soon, and was wondering if any of you guys will be willing to part with you "secret" locations for taking photos of cars.

I was wanting to take it around dusk...

ive got photographer and model organised already, just need to think of a nice place to take the photos.

Oh yeah, im south of the river.. so preferably somewhere not to far away from me!

if you want river views, try dalkeith. there are little parks off justland parade with car parks over looking the river.

also, theres one road which has great views of the city, and in the right spot you could get the city in the background.

If you are after an "industrial" kinda background, go down Rockingham road along the strip towards rockingham, and the last big place on your right is the BHP nickel refinery. You won't be let on site, but their is a road that runs right around the perimeter and if you go around the back between the refinery and Kwinana beach there is some good places you can set up with various parts of the refinery billowing steam and stuff. It looks awesome at night with all the sodium vapour lamps on too.

Make sure post the end result up where ever you decide.

photographer and model are both friends of mine... so total cost = $0

ill post up the pics when i do this, it will be this month sometime for sure. Im going to scope out locations next week. I quite like the idea of that BP nickel place. Sounds interesting.

After you can take a look at the pics and if you like it, i dun mind to intro you to the photographer. =)

Sounds a bit odd but someone will mention it eventually....

Just drive around & see what you find. A mate of mine did that with his 33 & found a place near Midland, was taking pics there & then a freight train came past & he managed to get some witht he train in the background. Turning the pic to black & white/grey, it looks awesome. Looks like it was taken in the old days but with a modern car. Now that I've got my kit on I'll be taking some photos around Perth too, I'll be looking as mentioned for an urban graffiti sort of look, but hopefully without the rape if I stop in an alleyway for too long haha

the zig zag in gooseberry hill is awesome at dusk

yeah the top of the zig zag is good or anywhere along the escarpment, you can also try the lookout near bp on welshpool road (top of hill) would look great with sunset and metro areas in the background.

South:

Fremantle wharfs / near Little Creatures / around E-Shed Markets...too many places to mention

A very clean place which was my top secret place for about 4 years until the owners of cars I photographed there started telling others so now everyone else is doing it, is behind the CSIRO building in Bentley. Big loading area to work with, plus unlike most car parks the lighting there is daylight balanced (non tungsten) when it turns dark. I went there the other day to go shoot my Skyline, but they had some other stuff going on there so I didn't bother.

I like my work carpark in Myaree (cnr North Lake Rd / McCoy Street). Reasonably clean, big area to work with.

South Perth foreshore *yawns*

Garden City car park (any of them), though you'll only last until security kick you out. Sometimes you have hours, sometimes you only get 5 minutes to shoot there.

Or click here to see some stuff I did for club I use to associate with :Model / Car Photos

Taken around various place close to Perth (all within 25km radius) Cottesloe, Perth, car wash, Freo, Mt Pleasant foreshore...

I'm actually waiting to get the exterior & interior of my car finished before I do the model / car shoot of my car. Might be at the end of the year I hope.

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
