CRD having a poke around the new platform's chassis and power/drivetrain is already putting them ahead of the other Oz tuners. They'll have more direction in part development and tuning just by having it on hand IMO.

CRD appear to be pretty khuneckted :P

It appears that way. Im still sceptical.

Have they paid for the thing or are GReddy using it as a demo. That would make more sense. No doubt Nissan knows about the situation here in Oz with the grey import rules and messers Buckley and GReddy are part of Nissans performance chain - they have been for decades. Theyre not some local shop selling other peoples products. For CRD to get their hands on one and claim to be on the road to development gains before the official release is dubious for me no matter which way i look at it.

Yeah, feh sure, i can just see GReddy singeing that bridge with Nissan Japan right now, dontcha know?

They've had a relationship with Trust going back years now. I guess it's just strengthened lately and it makes sense to leverage this opportunity for marketing in the region. CRD own the car.

Greddy's relationship with Nissan Japan wouldn't even register this as a blip on their radar.

Don't think crd would "own" it, so would be interesting to see how much "development" the Japs will allow CRD to do...

Hope they do something special with it... :)

Incorrect.

CRD owns the car, the signage was part of the deal as they are partnering with Greddy

There are a handful of them in Sydney now that will be road registered shortly, so tough titties to Nissan.

CRD's car will not be the first road registered R35 in NSW.

For CRD to have the financial ability to buy the R35 for development purposes already places them WELL ahead of other tuners in Australia as has already been said, and I have no doubt we can expect big things from this particular car. Don't be surprised if you see CRD pushing the limits of the VR38 before other well known Japanese workshops do :) Mind you, considering the replacement cost of a VR38 is in the region of $40,000 AUD, you'd want to have some serious coin in the bank before you went trying to test the engines limits!

jesus what is all the negativity about?

Australia led the early development of 32 gtr performance through Gibson motorsport, I think its great that CRD have the means and the guts to buy an r35 and start developing parts for it. Good on them!

Its good to see an aussie company having a chance to show everyone what we can do. I honestly cant think of another tuner in Oz that deserves the chance to show the world more than croydon.

Look forward to seeing what they can do.

Thanks for clearing that up Blitz

This is were it gets interesting, Gibson were not allowed to bring there touring car over and particapate with the Japs... someone was worried

Im not sure if I want to see the Japs getting beaten at there own game, wouldn't be suprised if it happens..

Cheers Tomek

nice work! I think it's great for our scene. I don't really care who owns it, it's here and I'm sure CRD will do some great work with it. and personally I reckon the colour scheme/graphics look pretty cool. Well done CRD I say.

Exactly.......I remember an interview with Jim and Mark [Richards/Skaife] where they said that the original Aussie R32's had to be modded just to get them competitive and reliable. I also seem to recall that Nissan japan took these idea's and ran with them for a lot of their own race teams.

Although things have moved on from those earlier heady days, I don't see any reason why CRD and other Oz garages can't contribute to the R35 development.

sorry, that makes absolutely no sense at all.

Why does that make no sense at all are you of the opinon that no one outside japan is capable of moding a R35 GTR ?. It seems to me that if any workshop has access to the car at the same time as japanese workshops there would be no reason they would not be able to develop thier own parts in a similar time frame. As much as i love japanese aftermarket parts they are not always the be all and end all of aftermarket performance. Take the australian made APS turbo kit for the 350z wich is a popular kit in japan and according to a japanese fellow i spoke to at tsukuba that had one fitted to his car is better quality and makes more power that the turbo kits offered from japanese manufacturers. And like has already been stated australia led the devolpment of the R32GTR so I see no reason that australian companys cant be at the forefront of development for the R35GTR makes complete sense to me.

    • Put a fuel pressure gauge on it. Replace the turbos. Probably completely separate issues.
    • What copper washer do you guys use on the bleeder bolts? The existing one I have I had no idea where to find it in a local store, I did buy some online but that are only 1mm thick whereas my old one is 2mm+ thick and when I put the new washer out and squeeze the top radiator hose I can hear a bit of air but not with the old one. Does this matter? The new one doesn't leak, but the inner diameter is a bit loose whereas the old one threads on the bolt.
    • Howdy all, after being out a few weeks ago on a spirited drive in my GTR I have 2 issues that oddly have appeared at the same time. Whilst accelerating quickly through the gears all of a sudden i’ve lost power at the top of third gear (below redline around 6000rpm) for no obvious reason.    From that point onwards the car has been running rich on idle, won’t really rev under load without a ton of black smoke and the odd backfire, and dying as a pull up to a set of lights unless I keep the revs up around 1500rpm. In addition when shutting down the car that same night (I was 10 minutes from home) I noticed one of the turbos was significantly noisy on wind down when shutting off the engine. After letting the car cool down overnight it starts up fine, although once it gets to temp the revs start to creep up and down, the exhaust is darker than it should be and it also sounds like it’s running rich (fat note) I’ve put a new set of plugs in it - no change, the old plugs all seemed OK with two of them being somewhat richer/fueled up than the other 3 with 1 being borderline. I’ve smoked tested the intake system via the front of the Turbos, found a split vacuum hose going to the factory boost gauge sender, which I have since replaced.  Also found another leak on the gasket coming off the rear turbo outlet, have also replaced this. After fixing both of these leaks - still have the running rich issue. I’ve also tried another pair of AFM’s - no change here After pulling off the front turbo intake pipes, there is obvious shaft play in the front turbo, which now hisses loudly on light revvs although I can’t see why this would make the car run funny even under idle. I’m curious to know why it’s running rich before I potentially replace/rebuild turbos. The car is completely stock <50,000kms  other than an exhaust. Oil and coolant are all clear. I haven’t bothered with coil packs as it looks like they won’t be the issue due to condition of the plugs. Any help appreciated as I cry myself to sleep!
    • No probs at all. I used to love trying to dig up obscure info for those in need where possible going back 20+ years on SAU.  I did have another look and couldn't come up with any closer match. I'm leaning towards those skirts in your first pic are custom fitments, cut down/extended or from another car entirely and modded to fit an R34 sedan. I would've thought someone in Japan had them and taken a photo at some stage over the last 2 decades but there's nothing. Someone out there must know surely.
