further back in here it says that the V66 has 6

cheers mate i lost track there is that many references to the v44, 66 and 88 i dont know whats what lol, i think the vipec site needs to add a v66 and the specs to save all the questions

im gonna be keen for one at $1500 its perfect price, just hope they are easy for most tuners as alot of tuners here are not fans of the autronic and im assuming this is a similiar design. When is the software program gonna be on the website i would love to check it out?

hmm it seems we have to buy them from local tune shops, not direct which puts me off a bit.... hopefully we can sort somehting out as im keen to get my hands on one to test and play with and find a decent equiv for haltec etc.

Let me know if you get hold of 1 trent. now that you have your shop open, id love to come round and finally meet ya. would be good to see the setup you have there. been hearin good things.

Would like to know what you think of this ecu. possibily replace the pfc in my car when ive got it up and running again

Whats everybodies opinion on the V66 Compared to th Haltech E11V2???

Got a little bit of news on the V66...yes its based on the V44 but is a special one off item specifically designed for the Skyline and features direct fire ignition. I was worried it might be a wasted spark set-up but no its direct fire. Still a couple of weeks before i get some in stock...illl let you know when its here.

I have just recently been searching for an upgrade for my PFC and came across this thread. The spec of the vi-pec ecu's looks very impressive, especially considering the price of $1500. I have a few questions about the V66 plug in ecu board for the GTR:

  • On the spec list it states the ecu can be used with MAF sensor. Can it be used with upgrade MAF's such as Nismo and Z32? I was thinking of running the ecu with stock MAF's until I decide whether or not to run upgrade MAF's or MAP sensor.

  • Will the V66 plug in board have the same of number inputs and outputs as the V88 standalone unit and if so how do you wire additional inputs into the ecu as it will be using the factory loom? Things such air intake temp and wideband lambda signal?

  • For the active knock control will the unit use the factory knock sensors or will it need vi-pecs own knock sensors to be fitted to the engine before it can take readings?

As a bit of back ground info I have an R32 GTR with GT2860 turbos and have uprated the fuel system which now includes Tomei 280L pump and Sard 700cc injectors. Ideally I would really like a system which has a base map for my current set up.

  • 2 weeks later...

For any east coasters these are available NOW through Godzilla Motorsport contact www.godzillamotorsport.com or you can pm me on here for details. Units do not have a base map loaded on them so they are not a turn key option. Ordering through Godzilla will get you a preloaded base map so it is a plug in turn key item.

Post Removed.

See post here for why.

Mark at Godzilla Motorsport in QLD has installed a couple in GTR's and one in a GTS-t.He is amazed at how smoothly the cars now drive with the new units installed. The off throttle return to idle is also far superior than anything he has experienced with a skyline before.

Truely a world class product.

ya i was having all kinds of idle issues, granted some of that has to do with my q45 TB with the monstrosity of a plenum i have rigged up to it, but the vipec overcame all that and never stalls regardless.

Great results on the dyno, but i was more impressed with the ease and response we had road tuning. very responsive interfacing and fun to work through. The launch control paired with using traction control at rev intervals and my first crack at this no lift shift (or flatshift) business has made driving an absolute delight all over again

Yeah im itching to get the fully optioned V88 into our drag car for testing. Especially the anti-lag launch and the flat-shift. Sick of having to feather the throttle after the burnout to stop the car stalling too as the Power FC hated returning to idle.

Just been looking through the Vi-pec site...

It looks as if the plug in ECUs are just the board, does it come with a case? asking this because I already have a PFC and dont have a factory ECU case to use for the new board.

Andrew

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
