I still can't really believe I'm writing this, but I turned up at the end of work today to the car park to find my loan car (courtesy of Doyles) has been flogged. Full tank of fuel too.

If anyone see's a white '89 EA Fairmont registration UYU 678 (& Doyle crash advertisement) please call the cops.

Thanks

Already thought of that. Had it planned to get some. Now I wish I'd had them already!

Bit of a worry 2 times it a fortnight, almost wonder if it's the same guy, which if the cops had done their f*@%ing job would have been locked up by now.

I'm going to be causing a major storm at work tomorrow too believe me!

mikes got insurence on all the cars so i dont think he's going to have too unless theres an excess as mike doesnt charge for loan cars :s

hopefully you would have dug into the cops abit after this happening to you again plus your work should probably get some cameras up to catch these people!

sucks man! remember though, it comes in 3's :D

heavy duty chain wrapped in rubber + heavy duty padlock = cheap wheel clamp. i keep one in my boot should i find myself parking in an area i dont trust, wrap it through the wheel spokes and around the strut.

hopefully the cops actually do something this time around.

lol i like the chain idea just dont forget about it when ya drive off lol

Sorry to hear Jared, what a pain hey!

i was going to post on here last night, something like; 'i bet there will be some sorta rampage on tonight - robberys/smash n grabs etc"

- and surprise suprise, reports of an overnight crime spree on the radio this morning! Probably had nothing to do with this particular car - but anything's possible eh!

Not in my car, but I've had that embarassment on my bike with a brake disc lock.

Sux to hear about the "loan" car being stolen ... thats just f**king stupid. :ermm:

My old man received a phone call at home from the Cops tonight. The Loaner was found a burnt out shell, no doubt after being used to commit some sought of criminal act.

As far as insurance goes, yes Mike does loan them out to customers for free, but there is a $500 excess I will have to cover + I've lost several hundred dollars worth of clothing etc. that was in the car (from staying at the girlfriends).

Whatever I take to work now (if I decide to keep working in said shit hole) is going to be an excessively secured shitbox so no one bothers touching it

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
